Search continues for missing toddler; authorities gather at family home for second day
Multiple law enforcement officers were gathered at the property of a missing toddler's family for the second day Thursday.

One-year-old Kahleb Collins has not been seen since Sept. 4. A search for him was triggered by a deadly crash involving his father, mother, and 2-year-old sister on Sunday, December 8.

His mother is the only survivor. She is currently hospitalized.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was at the home Wednesday night for several hours before leaving.

The home is located on Highway 129, just outside of Winfield.

Deputies could be seen stretching crime scene tape around the front of the home. People could also be seen with shovels in hand.

More crime scene tape could be seen stretched around a majority of the property Thursday morning as well as a K-9.

Missing baby believed to be dead, mother charged in Fayette County

The mother of missing 1-year-old Kahleb Rowan Collins, last seen on Sept. 4 in Winfield and now believed dead, has been charged in the baby's death, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Although his body has not been recovered, investigators believe that Kahleb has been dead for several months. Teams are still searching for his remains.

Wendy Pamela Bailey, 22, is charged with aggravated child abuse, domestic violence, abuse of a corpse and criminally negligent homicide.

The criminally negligent homicide charge is related to the death of two-year-old Ryleigh Collins, who was unrestrained in the vehicle driven by Steven Bradley Collins when it crashed on Dec. 8. in the Glen Allen community. At least they have her for that. She'll be where she needs to be for a while.

Graphic Details: Court records reveal ‘torture’ missing Fayette Co. toddler endured, and mother’s ‘extreme indifference’ to his life

The mother of a missing one-year-old boy told Fayette County investigators her fiancé, Steven Collins, told her he was going to kill their son, Kahleb, and sent her pictures of his bruised and bloodied body, according to court documents.

Wendy Pamela Bailey is charged with domestic violence, corpse abuse, criminally negligent homicide, and aggravated child abuse.

“Wendy Pamela Jean Bailey acknowledged the fact of knowing and failing to intervene on more that [sic] two occasions that Khaleb Rowan Collins was physically abused by tortuous means such as being bound with rope, physically assaulted, and being bound by a rope from a loft.”

Collins sent pictures to Ms. Bailey of their son hanging from a rope with blood on his body, and a photo of him lying on the floor with extreme bruising, followed by the messages, “He want [sic] move,” and “Im [sic] so sorry,” according to court records.

Collins then sent a message stating, “He moving” to which Ms. Bailey responded, “He just looks wore out and tried and hurt hopefully that’s all,” according to court records.

Ms. Bailey also told investigators Collins sent her a text message saying he was going to kill their son.

Her domestic violence and child abuse charges stem from incidents in July 2024, and the corpse abuse allegedly happened on September 29, weeks after Kahleb’s last confirmed sighting on September 4, according to ALEA.

According to a court record, Ms. Bailey told investigators “…upon the death of Kahleb Rowan Collins his body was placed into a bag and stored in an outside storage building for a brief period prior to final disposal at an unknown location.”

Fayette County investigators have not found Kahleb’s remains.

Ms. Bailey is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of her daughter, Ryleigh, because, according to court records, her failure to ensure the toddler was properly restrained caused her death.

Investigators said more charges are possible.

I'm pretty sure that one pic of him on her fb page showed him with a big ol knot on his forehead. Both kids had that defeated look to them. I'm glad she's being charged because she did nothing to stop it. If that is a big knot on his head, imagine that it must have been one of the best pics of him for her to post it like that while announcing her engagement for the public to see. Yikes.

This article has the pic I mentioned. Look at his forehead.

Also read the texts he sent her and her lack of response and/or action.

Judge grants D.A. request to delay hearings in case of missing toddler Kahleb Collins
Fayette County District Attorney Andrew Hamlin is asking that court hearings related to the case of missing toddler Kahleb Collins be continued. Kahleb's mother Wendy Bailey and his grandfather John Bailey were due in court January 15th for preliminary hearings.

In the court filing D.A. Hamlin says the state is in the process of completing the investigative file and asks that the cases be re-set to the next available preliminary hearing docket. The judge has not ruled on the request.

UPDATE: Fayette County Judge Merrell Nolen has granted the state's request to continue the preliminary hearing. A new hearing date is set for February 11, 2025 at 9a.m.

My God. Why did I even look. The date he went missing made me think it might be an older one I had already seen before but it wasn't.

I almost commented before I'd read all posts and was going to say the mom would end up arrested and I'd be pretty convinced this was an attempt to purposely kill them all. I read further and yep apparently out of hospital and arrested.

She's 22 right? How old was he? And did grandpa just watch all this go on as well?
