Gargis said that Kaiden was “visiting with his father in the days leading up to his death,” and witnesses spotted the boy with his father and others off of the “1300 block of Carver Circle on the night of his death.”

“This area is a common gathering place for members of the community and it is believed that other members of our community may have been in the area and may have important information to our ongoing investigation,” Gargis added.

“The community’s assistance is critical to this investigation. Our hope is that the community will understand the gravity of this case and do the right thing in coming forward and speaking with our detectives.”

So far, no arrests have been made.

Among other things, even aside from being in the car, they are going to need to rule out who the blunt force trauma could have happened with/at the hands of who? That was done in the case I refer to and know about, the father in our case placed the child with him and only him in his statements, and the injury (thankfully I guess but not in the same breath?) was of a type it could not have happened days earlier. In this case, it sounds as if there may be witnesses to help with what happened and by who...

Just another person thinking LE and med personnel are dumb, oh let's disguise it as a hot car death. Our case was put forth as SIDS and ya don't get severe skull fractures from SIDS. Probably stupidly figured all would just take his word for it though...

RIP you poor child.

This sickens me. What in the he77 is wrong with people? Two people? Is one a parent? And who is the other? I can't believe in some ways this is not blazing across national headlines!

Family of 3-year-old, Kaiden Garner, spends first Christmas without him

A lot of families here in the Tennessee Valley spent Christmas celebrating. For some, the holidays are not joyful.

Kaiden Garner was 3-years-old when police say he was killed in August.

His mother Lesley said this holiday is a painful reminder that her son’s life was ended unexpectedly.

Every year the Garner family lights a candle for for their late grandmother.

This year they’re lighting a candle in honor of little Kaiden too.

“The holidays are not the same,” Lesley said.

Not the same because Kaiden was killed in August by blunt force trauma.

His father, Blake Townsend, was indicted for his murder and remains in jail with no bond.

Townsend’s girlfriend, Yalrick Pride, was also arrested and charged with child abuse but is out on bond.

Lesley said there’s a void in her heart this holiday.

“I will always feel that emptiness, can’t nobody feel that void. He was happiness,” Lesley said.

Judge denies youthful offender status for two people charged in connection to the death of 3-year-old Kaiden Garner

Two people charged in connection to the death of a 3-year-old in Florence appeared in court Wednesday. Police were initially told Kaiden Garner died from being left inside of a hot car, but investigators later made arrests after claiming evidence suggests Garner was beaten and killed.

Blake Townsend and his girlfriend Yalrick Pride were seeking youthful offender status. On April 28, a judge denied that status for both of them. Wednesday’s hearing has been delayed for months, but finally, Townsend and Pride appeared in court to see if they would be granted youthful offender status.

On Wednesday, they were both denied youthful offender status.

Both were eligible because they’re 20-years-old. When a person is under 21 years of age at the time allegedly commits a criminal offense, Alabama law allows them to be treated by the Court as a “Youthful Offender.”

Townsend is charged with capital murder in the death of his 3-year-old, son Kaiden Garner, in August 2020. Pride is charged with child abuse. If granted youthful offender, the case would have been sealed from the public and tried behind closed doors.

This case will now advance to a jury trial. Pride’s trial is scheduled to begin in December.

Florence trial for man accused in 3-year-old’s death delayed until October

Our news partner at the Times Daily reported that the trial for a man accused of killing his 3-year-old son has been delayed.

Blake Townsend is charged with capital murder for allegedly beating Kaiden Garner to death in August 2020. Yalrick Pride is charged with child abuse.

Investigators said Townsend and Pride tried to make it look like Garner died in a hot car.

Lauderdale County Circuit Court Judge Gil Self agreed to delay the trial to October. The trial was originally set for June 13. Self told Townsend’s attorney that he wanted to make sure there was proper time for him to set his defense.

Father pleads guilty to aggravated child abuse in death of 3-year-old son

A father who was charged with capital murder for the death of his 3-year-old son in 2020 pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse in court on Friday.

According to Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly, Blake Townsend agreed to a life sentence as part of his plea deal. Part of the agreement is that Townsend will provide further truthful testimony in the trial of his co-defendant Yalrick Pride.

Townsend was charged with capital murder after authorities say he beat his 3-year-old son, Kaiden Garner, to death in August 2020. Townsend along with this girlfriend, Yalrick Pride, were both arrested. Pride was charged with child abuse.

True evil does walk this earth.

Now just so no one ever lets them out. Shouldn't have to worry about that and who would have ever thought such things would go on but nowadays they do. Disgusting.

May this poor baby RIP.
