Karen Read accused of backing into boyfriend and leaving him to die *TRIAL IN PROGRESS*

This woman didn't do this. I'd be willing to bet that someone in the house did it. Someone in the house looked up "How long will it take for somebody to die in the cold." Karen couldn't have done that search.

Is there a cover up conspiracy?

Two diverging theories - that's a laugh to begin with. The defence theory that the partygoers beat up a fellow officer and chucked him outside to die of hypothermia over a period of 6 hours while nobody noticed.

I don't know for me if I have it in me to watch another trial after Daybell. She and her defense sicken me on top of it but I guess so did Lori so we will see. I watched a fair amount of testimony in the last one but I had to go back to do it instead of live.

Couldn't see the whole article as one has to subscribe but that's okay. That pic at the top lol? He looks like a fool as if he's gazing at her adoringly LMAO. All put on imo, and it truly doesn't fly. At least not with me. :D

We are on the same page on this one I think. That's a ridiculous story that came well after the fact, with too much in it having to be come up with to explain it. Totally ludicrous. Some like to believe it though. Beats me how they can but whatever...

Can't believe almost how Daybell ended and this one starts and how that all worked out since originally it looked as if both would be tried at the same time.

I hope Daybell comes back today! Guilty, guilty, guilty :gavel:
 
Just going by the opening statements especially if it was someone who knew nothing about this case... at minimum one would think what a corrupt group of drunken cops ...... geez

I muted Jackson after a bit. It's jmo and no one has to share it but I find KR and her defense team as disgusting as Lori Daybell and that is saying a lot. Again jmo. I don't' even know what your opinion is so lol it isn't an opinion directed at anyone.

I have the audio on now but not sure how long I will listen.

Way back probably before you were on, I personally think both sides needed to just move some. And more.

It's gone way too far and is ridiculous.

I generally don't agree with plea deals in a lot of things but in this case, she is guilty imo but they wanted to prove intentional homicide which I actually think it was in a drunken rage, but their chance of proving that degree is hard. She wouldn't take her lumps and they wouldn't lighten charges a bit.

I am listening but I can take or leave this case at times.

The video they had in the trial just now showed how close his body was to the flagpole and hydrant. Like right next to them and the road. They were putting him on a body board prior to getting him onto the stretcher/trolley.
 
The D is attacking the ambulance witness and saying last time he testified he said KR said "I did it, I did it," but this time he is querying that this time he said she said "I did it, i did it, i did it". LOL the witness is now adamant she said it three times. They showed the video from the cop car by the look of it. His body was right near the kerb and flagpole. You can see KR flapping and running back and forth.

If i was on the jury that would pee me off right there attacking a paramedic on the stand.

Hate to say it but cops are like that everywhere IME. My hub was a cop in the 70's/80's. Hard living, hard drinking, never a dull moment .......

Yep with the victim and family lost in all of it.

I can't imagine living in the neck of the woods lol. How close to it are you?

I really struggle with Hollywood or circus type trials or where they make it such. I am victim first and justice first and they make a mockery of our system. However, the system need to take care of that too and there should not be that opening. I don't want politics playing into justice either.

I don't want to ever see someone wrongfully accused and I am a firm believer in LE and others need to be HONEST and not doing things for their own benefit because of power, etc. or they wreck cases or it can be used, they need to clean up their act these days, but none of that means to me she isn't guilty.

Not sure if I am in the mood for the circus or not but Brennan did impress me through the pretrial hearings so I will likely watch some if not most.

I get pretty turned off when she is on the screen and Jackson can make me leave it too lol. Guess I'll see. I keep up with it or have though. Until now anyhow.

I did hear that part lol. Witness holding his own I felt overall. Jackson is trying to push stuff. As a juror I would recognize that.

I'd say that's fairly true. Most of us know where our local cops drank. They did have to think a bit before going to a regular place of most people and drinking hard but there were a few places that kind of catered to them and covered in or neck of the woods. It is VERY typical.

The thing that bothers me in this is KR was doing such too as was Okeefe. The entire group was drinking AND driving and so on. That's where the problem comes in when it is one of their own and something happens.

I've said it before and will again, even how Proctor was does not MAKE Karen Read innocent. I think there is a much more easily explainable thing to it all that makes the most sense.

These days though? LE really needs to learn how to keep their noses clean because guilty people are using their screw ups to turn cases around or try to. If one wants to go into power or LE they probably better not drink ever and live a very dull protected life.

I know of things where they covered for their own LE buddy and so forth in my own area. I think that is how that started here, they were ALL drinking, most anyhow...

NONE of that makes her innocent to me though. Every case they ever have can try to blame it on that, or on Proctor, and that is what is happening. It does not mean the accused perp didn't do the crime. I can't believe how many fall for that.
 
I can't believe this first paramedic to testify....first witness called is STILL on the stand all these hours later!!!! This is ridiculous

O'Keefe was not drinking and driving but Karen was.

In the D openings he was saying that O'Keefe's phone was under his body and it recorded his body temperature and the time as his temperature slowly reduced. I will be interested to hear that evidence when it comes up.
 
Imo none of the times she has spoken to a reporter or anything hasn't helped her and the whole botched sloppy stupid investigation doesn't help the prosecution so I'm dead down the middle but leaning more towards her being framed by these guys
