Search continues for current Mrs. Dallas who went missing under 'unusual circumstances'

More family and friends of a missing Irving mother have joined the search for her after she was last seen near a lake in her neighborhood Tuesday.

Irving police initiated a search. They say they don't treat every missing person's case like this, but they say this one has some unusual circumstances.

Police revealed after being tracked the missing woman’s phone is not on, but they had no major updates.

A day after 38-year-old Lashun Massey was reported missing, members of her Irving La Villita community came together in prayer.

"I want my wife back," said Jeff Massey, her husband.

Irving police say around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Massey went for her normal morning walk around the lake. It’s something Jeff says she's done since they moved to the La Villita community. Police say when she did not come back at her normal time, her husband called 911.

"Witnesses saw a female matching her description around 5:30 a.m. near the waterway near Lake De Clair, which is inside the La Villita residential area," explained Irving Police Officer Robert Reeves.

Lashun is a mother, business owner and the reigning Mrs. Dallas. She is set to compete in the Mrs. Texas America pageant in September.

Lashun’s father, Frank King, and other family members drove down from her hometown in Arkansas.

"I just don’t believe she is in that water. I just don’t believe it," King said. "I haven’t been able to sleep since I heard what went down. It’s just tough right now."

Investigators say they have no indication of foul play. They called in Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens Tuesday to use their sonar because the lake is 95 feet deep, but nothing was found.

"This is an unusual missing persons. That is why we are pushing it out the way we are," Reeves said. "Not every missing person gets put on social media or gets the news media, but this one is a little unusual."

Police would not elaborate more on the unusual circumstances.

I agree with gbear that someone who is afraid of water would'nt chose that as a method to commit suicide. I don't say this has to be foul play, I just think that this is a very odd case. She had plans and goals. Rest in peace, Lashun😕eta
Sorry for being too quick, she hasn't been identified yet.🙈but after being only 2 days in the water, this shouldn't be too difficult?
Same here, I am assuming it is her, I don't usually do that quickly but they did not say it was male, couldn't be her or was a child, etc. She would be identifiable I think as would her clothing most likely.

Yes, I don't get committing suicide and choosing your fear to do it by. I have no problem flying for instance but I don't want to be over ocean for hours. If the plane is going to crash and I die, let it crash on land. That is also my water fear. Likewise, I would rather die on impact in a car than my car slip off or go off the road into water while I try to get out or have the car fill with water. I don't want to be drowning--ever. It does not mean I won't go into a boat with a life jacket or go wading where I know it is just ankle depth, etc.

I also don't like extreme heights. Even though in my mind I would know leaping from a very tall building would kill me quickly, I would get up there and no matter how much I did not want to live, I would be unable to jump and I am pretty darned positive of that.

So yes, it remains an odd case to me too.

I haven't seen anywhere she didn't know how to swim. Drowning is quick and easy. Seems like the in and out of the water may have been hesitation in the desperation of the moment for whatever reason.

I mean no disrespect. But you can't get into someone else's head. Some people cut their own throat or set themselves on fire. I can't see doing that.

Very well could be. Just giving my take and I said straight out that none of us can know what another is thinking etc. or something on that order But it was said she took care around water by her husband, not sure why someone would take such care unless they did not feel confident in the water was my thought. And her dad said he did not believe she was in the water. I was simply discussing thoughts and speculating where there was just some info and not a lot of explanation. Excerpts from articles above:

Lashun’s father, Frank King, and other family members drove down from her hometown in Arkansas.

**"I just don’t believe she is in that water. I just don’t believe it," King said. "I haven’t been able to sleep since I heard what went down. It’s just tough right now."

**"Massey says he doesn’t believe his wife is in the lake, rather someone has done something."

**Jeff told the news station he has a hard time believing that his wife is in the lake because she was very cautious around the water.**

But yes, anything is possible at this point as far as we know.

I read those statements. But when she reportedly seen going in and out of the water that would be where I would focus on.

Yeah, that's hard to ignore, I agree. I would like to hear more on who witnessed this though, time frames, how many. I think in the PC the LE guy said the last she was seen she had come out of the water and left and had not went back in. If I recall correctly. I tried to listen to it late while having the TV on last night too, sound with both, muting one, listening to another, etc. But maybe their word put out brought another witness of her back to or in the water and the area.

Denial for family early on especially is understandable and if she did not like water, even more understandable that they would not believe she was in the water.

I doubt somehow that drowning is a quick and easy way to go. You are suffocating, minutes can feel like years.😐
An average person can hold their breath for 30 seconds up to 2 minutes. Then you take in water in your lungs that first gasp underwater. Drown. It doesn't take minutes.

Wow! This is just beyond bizarre. The only thing I can figure is that she had a mental break. I wonder if she had exhibited any signs of mental illness before?

My thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones. What a horrible horrible time for them.
