Hall County community comes together to help find 12-year-old who disappeared from her home

Concern has been growing for 12-year-old M G-P five days after her disappearance in Hall County.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that a $20,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of G-P.

“We hope this reward money prompts someone who knows something about Maria’s whereabouts to come forward,” said Sheriff Gerald Couch. “Our investigators and investigative partners are following every lead they get, but so far, none of those leads have led us to Maria.”

“I feel like there’s more we can do about it,” Edward Andrade told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson.

Andrade is the president of the Ambitions Car Club in Hall County and says as a parent he couldn’t stand by and do nothing.

He was part of a group of dozens of family, friends, teachers, and community members Sunday who made signs and knocked on doors near Atlanta Highway.

“About 30 of us, we walked the streets, we had flyers, we passed out flyers,” Andrade said.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released many details about what happened last Wednesday. Investigators say she was last seen at her home that day near Atlanta Highway and West Side Drive.

“We’re just worried maybe she’s out of state, possibly now, there’s no telling,” Andrade said.

With few details and plenty of determination, Andrade says his biggest focus is finding her safe.

“We’re just trying to do our part as a club, as a community,” Andrade said. “We can’t give up.”

Missing 12-year-old Georgia girl may be in Florida, deputies say

Officials are still searching for a missing 12-year-old girl from Georgia, and they believe she could be in Florida.

M G-P was last seen six weeks ago when she went missing from her home in Gainesville, Georgia the night of May 29, according to the Hall County, Ga. Sheriff’s Office.

The girl left her house after speaking to someone on the phone. Officials said she hasn’t been seen or heard from since. “Our only goal is to find M and bring her home,” Sheriff Gerald Couch said.

Anyone with tips or any information is asked to call 770-503-3232 or email intelrequest@hallcounty.org.

if she was talking with someone on the phone, unless I'm just overtired, which I am, I'd think by now they'd have the number that called her or she was talking to. It isn't hard to believe that a 12 year old these days couldn't have met a predator online, or even otherwise, sadly. However this has been a month and one half. she's 12. She supposedly had a phone with her as she was seen talking to someone on the phone. Now I note this was she left the house "after" speaking to someone on the phone.

Hall County Sheriff provides update in case of missing 12-year-old girl

Dozens of investigators are still urgently searching for a missing Hall County 12-year-old girl.

On Tuesday, Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch provided the latest update on the missing person's case of M G-P.

Authorities previously said G-P was last seen at her home on Westside Drive on May 29 and was reported missing the next day. She is 5-foot 3-inches tall, weighs between 100 and 110 pounds, and has brown eyes and long black hair. Investigators previously said she was last seen wearing a bright blue shirt.

"We are all doing everything within our power to bring M home safe and sound. And make no mistake, the men and women of the sheriff's office and numerous other agencies have M's image burned in our hearts and into our minds," Couch said at Tuesday's press conference.

Along with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Couch said investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Homeland Security and the Guatemala consulate-- over 70 investigators are working around-the-clock to find G-P.

So far, investigators said they've received nearly 70 tips in G-P's case and have conducted drone and K-9 searches at G-P's home. Couch said they've also interviewed G-P's family, school officials, her friends and neighbors.

"In the neighborhood, our team has canvassed the area, which means going door to door and speaking with every individual who lives there," Couch added. "Additionally, we used our marine unit boat to search portions of Lake Lanier."
Well I've went back to look at the two pages of posts on this case of this poor missing child as I started wondering what the evidence is she was last seen at her home and when last seen independently by someone other than family which I think we've all learned is an important question. And I've read links and I don't see where this comes from or any proof of same. and then I noticed she was not reported missing until the next day. Not accusing and not assuming but I didn't realize this until now.

WHEN as we ask was she last seen independently, does anyone know, did I miss it? This would be toward the end of the school year. Some would be out, some just ending, depending on your state, sn*w days to make up, school calendar.

Are her parents together and married? It refers to that her dad wants to see her and her family, etc. maybe not in this post, but I've read it in looking back.

This has been like I think I said a month and a half already. Did she leave with a cell phone? Was she in school that day? Are the parents together and who did she live with? Etc. There is so little here for answers of those routine things. I could have missed them, like I said, overtired lately.

I left but decided to come back and do one more thing. May 29th was a Wednesday. Is that the next day when reported missing or the night before before being reported missing?

Regardless it's not a weekend so now I'd also like to know if she was in school or went to public school, etc. Or any school?

There is just one heckuva lot missing here. Imo. Maybe some of these things are known and I've just missed them. But for instance WHEN was the last time she was at school and seen for instance?

Is that info in here anywhere?

And again not accusing at all, in no way, but am wondering 45 days or so in where this info and these answers are.

Search for missing 12-year-old Georgia girl now spanning several states

The search for a missing 12-year-old Gainesville girl is now stretching across several other states, including as far away as Illinois and Texas.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office posted an update last Friday on the search for M G-P. She was reported missing on May 30, a day after she was last seen in the driveway of her home, and her family and community have been making extensive search efforts since then.

The July 12 update by the sheriff's office said searches have been conducted in other states including Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

"Video images and other media led to HCSO working closely with jurisdictions in those states to quickly mobilize and search for M. Unfortunately, she remains missing," the update stated.

Sheriff Gerald Couch said while tips have declined in the case, the sheriff's office is still determined to bring her home. Efforts have included "intelligence, translators, drones, crime scene investigators and simple determination to find clues."

The post said evidence collected from search and digital evidence has "provided hope for a break in the case and continue to be the best investigative resource thus far."

“In the sixth week since M was last seen, assistance from our community remains helpful in ensuring this case remains in the spotlight,” Sheriff Couch said. “Whether pledging reward money, organizing signage or sharing fliers, each one of you is appreciated. It is also important to note that scammers have tried to take advantage of this incident using social media. Please remember that the sheriff’s office social media platforms should be your point of reference for legitimate and accurate information on the case.”

A $50,000 reward for helping find M remains active, and the sheriff's office says the HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) continues to take tips at (770) 503-3232 or intelrequest@hallcounty.org.

Missing 12-year-old Hall County girl found in Ohio with man she met online

Sheriff Couch confirmed on Friday morning that she had been found in Dover, Ohio with a 34-year-old man she met online.

He says M met Antonio Agustin, a Guatemalan native, online and began chatting with him and other adult men through Facebook Messenger. She told Agustin that she was unhappy and wanted to leave home.

On May 29, Agustin drove from his Ohio home to Gainesville to pick M up and take her back to northeast Ohio, where investigators believe they have been since.

The sheriff went on to say that they found her after she made another Facebook account and messaged her father to let him know that she was fine, but wasn’t coming home and wanted him to stop looking for her.

Investigators were able to use the IP address from that message to track down the phone number and M's location.

Agustin has since been arrested and is being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail.

Man arrested in connection to 12-year-old Gainesville girl to remain in Ohio for now

The suspect arrested last week in connection with the disappearance of M G-P, 12, from Gainesville will remain in the custody of authorities in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, for the foreseeable future, according to Hall County Sheriff's Office.

Antonio Agustin-Ailon, 34, a Guatemalan national living in Dover, Ohio, was taken into custody on July 25 after Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators found him with the missing girl in Dover. Agustin-Ailon had traveled to Gainesville to take the victim back to his residence in Ohio.

The investigation revealed that Agustin-Ailon took G-P from Gainesville on May 29, the day she was last seen at her residence. "After consultation with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the elected county prosecutor in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, we have determined it best to delay extradition to Hall County," said Lee Darragh, District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia. "Based on the information we have at this time, the most serious criminal offenses in this case occurred in Ohio, and the bulk of necessary witnesses even to prove a Hall County case are in Ohio. It makes sense that the suspect answer to what charges Ohio proceeds on first."

Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch agreed with the DA’s decision. "My primary goal in this case is to see justice done. If that means we have to wait for this suspect to have his day in court in Ohio before he faces our charges, so be it. I just want to make sure he has no chance of luring another young girl from home, wreaking havoc on another community like he did ours," said Sheriff Couch.

The DA’s office indicated it will move forward with filing relevant charges in Hall County, likely through a Grand Jury presentation, as Tuscarawas County proceeds with its case.

Jail records detail charges against man arrested for taking missing Hall County girl to Ohio

The man accused of taking a missing Hall County girl to Ohio has been charged with multiple counts of rape, according to jail records in Ohio.

Antonio Agustin-Ailon, 34, is charged with taking the girl from Gainesville to his home in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The girl was missing for 57 days before being recovered safely in Ohio.

Agustin-Ailon is accused of picking the 12-year-old girl up from her Gainesville home on May 29 and bringing her to Ohio. Investigators said she and the man had been messaging online, with the girl saying she was unhappy at home.

The child wouldn’t be found until nearly two months later, when she messaged her father from a Facebook account and said she wasn’t coming home. Investigators tracked the IP address to a home in Dover, Ohio, later finding Agustin-Ailon with the girl and taking him into custody on July 25.

Atlanta News First is no longer naming or showing the girl’s picture, as she is a victim in the case.

Agustin-Ailon has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of pandering obscenity, gross sexual imposition and interference with custody.

Under Ohio law, pandering obscenity involves creating, reproducing or publishing ”any obscene material that has a minor or impaired person as one of its participants or portrayed observers.”

Agustin-Ailon was first supposed to be extradited to Hall County, but he is now been held in Ohio long-term.

“Based on the information we have at this time, the most serious criminal offenses in this case occurred in Ohio, and the bulk of necessary witnesses even to prove a Hall County case are in Ohio,” Lee Darragh, district attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia, said in a statement. “It makes sense that the suspect answer to what charges Ohio proceeds on first.”

Dover man pleads not guilty to multiple felony charges in Georgia girl disappearance case

A Dover man officials allege is linked to the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl from Georgia has entered not guilty pleas to the six charges he is facing, including two counts of rape, a first-degree felony and one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

Antonio Agustin-Ailon, 34, was arraigned Friday in the court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Ernest.

He is also facing one count of interference with custody, a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, a second-degree felony.

Agustin-Ailon will be held without bail in the Tuscarawas County Jail pending a no-bail hearing scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
