There’s nothing we won’t do to #findMadalina,” the police department posted on Facebook Monday. Search boats and fire officials could be seen at the lake Monday morning. The lakefront is around 2 miles from the girl’s home.

The stepfather and mother of a missing Cornelius 11-year-old made their first appearances in court Monday and Tuesday and saw their bonds set at $200,000 and $250,000 each.

Diana Cojocari, 37, and Christopher Palmiter, 60, are charged with failure to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. Mecklenburg District Court Judge Christy Mann set Cojocari’s bond at $250,000 at her initial appearance on Tuesday. If she makes bond she will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Palmiter’s bond was raised from $100,000 to $200,000 Monday.

Police search lake near missing 11-year-old's house as 'precautionary measure'

Law enforcement officials investigating the disappearance of Madalina Cojocari, an 11-year-old girl who was reported missing on Dec. 15, searched a lake in her North Carolina town on Monday, the FBI and local police said.

“As part of the normal investigative process, we are expanding our search to include Lake Cornelius as a precautionary measure,” the FBI’s Charlotte bureau said on Twitter. “There’s nothing we won’t do to #FindMadalina.”

In court Monday, Channel 9′s Dan Matics learned school resource officers had reached out on Dec. 12 to figure out where Madalina Cojocari was, according to prosecutors. Then, her mom reported her missing -- three days later on Dec. 15, prosecutors said. That was 22 days after police said she was last seen.

Madalina’s mother ‘hindered investigation;’ ‘Begrudgingly’ reported her missing, officials say

New information obtained by Queen City News regarding 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari shows the stepfather drove to Michigan the night of her disappearance following a dispute between him and the girl’s mother.

A Mecklenburg County warrant gave a clear timeline of the events. On the night of Wednesday, November 23rd, an argument took place between Madalina Cojocari’s mother, 37-year-old Diana Cojocari, and stepfather, 60-year-old Christopher Palmiter. During the argument, Madalina went into her room to go to bed around 10 p.m. Palmiter then decided to drive to Michigan, where he has family, to pick up items. Around 11:30 a.m. the next morning, Cojocari went into Madalina’s room to check on her and Madalina was gone.

Palmiter was told about Madalina’s disappearance three days later, records showed, and Cojocari said she waited three weeks to report her disappearance because she was worried it would affect her relationship with her husband.

Both were arrested and charged with failure to report a missing child.

Both appeared in court this week virtually where the state said neither has been forthcoming about her whereabouts. The mother is being held on a $250,000 bond with the district attorney’s office indicating that she hindered the investigation and ‘begrudgingly’ reported her missing. Palmiter is being held on a $200,000 bond. His bond was increased from an initial $100,000.

Cornelius Police confirmed Madalina had been living at the home and Palmiter told police the last time he’d seen Madalina was a week before he left for Michigan. Cojocari and Palmiter were married.

Video shows the last confirmed location of missing 11-year-old girl

A newly released video recorded 29 days ago -- and 24 days before the 11-year-old girl was officially reported missing -- is the last time investigators can say with certainty that Madalina Cojocari was seen.

The video released Tuesday shows the girl getting off the Bailey Middle School school bus just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21.

"Ths is the last time investigators have independent confirmation of when Madalina was last seen," the FBI field office in Charlotte said. "We are seeking additional witnesses outside of the family to narrow down the exact timeline of when she disappeared."

In the video, Cojocari is one of four students seen exiting the bus. The faces of the other students were blurred to protect their identities.

@Kimster this is starting to sound like Cody Haynes.
Child goes to their bedroom, one parent leaves on an errand, when the child is checked on hours and hours later they're magically gone.
Breaks my heart!!!!! I wonder if they are able to track the car somehow? Sadly, when Cody's body was removed from the home (what I believe happened), cars didn't have any trackers and I don't even think his "father" had a cell phone.

A detective wrote that when he questioned Diana Cojocari, she said she “believed her husband put her family in danger,” and maintained she didn’t know what happened to Madalina.

She also allegedly said family in Moldova told her to call the police but she still hesitated.

Diana Cojocari reportedly told the detective that her daughter did not have a phone and that a bookbag with some of her clothes were missing.

She also told the detective that her daughter didn’t have any friends or family she would be with.
