“They were calling each other the B-word, so I figured it was just a girl fight,” Donovan Brinson, who pulled up into his driveway as the fight unfolded Tuesday, told the Columbus Dispatch.

He said the yelling escalated moments later when he took his dog out back, so he went back into his home.

And when police arrived, he said he heard four shots as his wife, Rachel, dove to the floor.

No. Shock therapy is applied to the temples effecting the brain. My grandmother was given it when she had a nervous breakdown.
I never said anything about shock therapy. I was talking about a taser/stun gun, not shock therapy. The gun delivers electric voltage/shock/stun. Regardless of electricity, why would I be talking about temple applied shock therapy to the brain in this case when discussing tasers? I am pretty sure that is not cops' intent with tasers, it is to stop the offender. Lost me.

I've read articles that describe her as 14 and 15 and 16. How old was she really.

I just watched the body cam video of the shooting. The only thing I can say that the officer may have done wrong is shoot four times. Two probably would have stopped her, but I've never been in that situation.

When I saw shock and electric my mind went there. It was my misunderstanding. I am very sorry. I apologize.

Well I would say to that you can't stop to see if one works.

About 20 years ago when dash cams were first introduced a lot of cops didn't want them. I saw an interview with one cop who said he was against them, but one really helped him. Efferdently, a motorist claimed the cop had sexually harassed her. The dash cam video showed she was lying. He said he was really glad he had one and had changed his mind.

either way she was too young to harbor that much anger to go after somebody with a knife

About 15 years ago there was a BIG guy who was hopped up on drugs and had broken into someone's garage and was stealing stuff. Most likely for drugs. Two cops responded to the scene and the first officer tased him with no effect. The second officer tased him as well and it didn't phase him. So one shot him and he died. Some people on another sports board I read were saying the cop should have shot him in the leg. Cops are trained to aim for the body. It's the thickest area and chances of missing are much smaller.

We're talking about a small girl who's moving. Attempting to shoot her leg may have failed and the other girl would have been stabbed. If he had done that and the other girl was killed the cop would be being criticized. Cops can't win sometimes.

And this was a split second situation.

and she definitely was an immediate threat

I would imagine if the situation is possible imminent injury or death to another, which this appeared to be, that authorizes the action and at that point, you fire until certain the risk is over. The People article Mel posted had a good point, that one would think this officer would be lauded for having likely saved the lives of others. Short of some dam*ing other evidence, this officer did not do wrong from what I can see.

Stealing stuff is a bit different than lunging at someone with a knife. Not sure what I think in that case unless the thief was threatening officers or someone else's life. If they shot center mass if he was only fleeing, I can see where that might be argued if it was not life or death.
