Man accused of abducting Beaver Dam teen pleads not guilty

The man accused of abducting a 17-year-old girl from Wisconsin has pleaded not guilty, and now he's voluntarily agreeing to extradition related to charges in Wisconsin and Arkansas.

Gary Day appeared in court Thursday morning in Nebraska on two extradition complaints.

The 40-year-old man is facing child abduction charges in Wisconsin and interference with custody charges in Arkansas after he allegedly kidnapped the girl in Wisconsin.

Day waived extradition for both Wisconsin and Arkansas, meaning he agreed to be transferred to the jurisdictions without a hearing.

"You are ordered held in custody without bond, the authorities in the state of Wisconsin will be notified immediately," the judge told Day during his first court appearance.

Day is also facing two misdemeanor charges in Sarpy County, Nebraska for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and false reporting.

He pleaded not guilty, and Day will return to court for an extradition and status review.

Day's next court appearance is April 24.

Personally even if she is 17 now, I think that article should say 16 as that is the age she was.

Sounds like he might be headed for WI first.

I almost commented on that but then thought they all plead not guilty initially. Always. I think a judge will even enter that if they stand mute or some such.

I had to kind of chuckle when they said Wisconsin would be advised. I'm sure Wisconsin already knows of the news. Lol. Maybe not by the official court and steps they have to take re extradition officially etc. but they definitely know lol. Of course the steps have to be gone through with the process is what they mean.

BEAVER DAM, Wis. -- A Dodge County Court commissioner set bond at $2 million for the man accused of abducting a pregnant Beaver Dam teen and taking her across state lines.
Well that's good news, don't think I had seen that. That's high for WI who sometimes does notoriously low bonds although that part of the state is a bit better on higher bonds.
