Search for missing Maine girl who was last seen 4 weeks ago continues, police say

State and federal authorities continue to search for a girl from northern Maine who went missing nearly a month ago.

Maine State Police officials said Tuesday that 14-year-old Stefanie Damron remains missing despite extensive investigative efforts.

Stefanie, who was 13 when she went missing on Sept. 23, was last seen walking out of her New Sweden home and into the woods located on West Road, according to authorities.

Members of the Maine State Police's Troop F and Major Crimes Unit North began investigating the circumstances surrounding Stefanie's disappearance. The MSP Computer Crimes Unit and the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team were also called upon to help ensure all resources were utilized in the search for Stefanie.

Investigators said they have conducted many interviews and have followed up on leads in Maine, nationally and in Canada. The Maine Warden Service and Maine State Police K-9 Unit have also searched large parcels of land near Stefanie's last known location in Aroostook County.

I just skimmed all the posts again, didn't really have the time but did so anyhow.

I'm not convinced still of anything here.

There are a lot of contradictions, the kids like and are are comfortable in their surroundings but she had run away many times...

Were those other times she ran reported to LE?

Never been a single sighting.

It is a family report that she ran off at all.

As I said before I know of a case the child was running from molestation by the stepdad but was picked up by someone she met through gaming and talked into picking her up. She had NO other way out. So it can be a combined thing.

In that case, everyone thought for months if I recall that it was a bio mom and bio dad and we found out pretty late in the game NO, he was a stepdad. Most didn't believe anything was wrong in the family, but I never bought it.

I'm not sure what the deal is here but no one is clear imo. IF she truly used a flip phone to contact someone then how come they have't been able to track that person down....

Not sure if this was posted. It's not anything we don't already know...... but I'll leave it here
I see it's updated to this month of this year but all appears to be the former information.

They say again police don't think she had access to devices yet somewhere in these posts there is something about a phone. Conflicting info.

Something just does NOT sit right in this one, at least not with me. I'm not sure what it is. Something just seems off.

So they didn't call her in until the next day. Not as if that's forever but it is Maine in late September and I'd think the nights would be pretty darned cool.

Plenty of people move but they moved from Texas to Maine. Doesn't seem like it was for a job or anything as both supposedly were at job interviews on the day she went missing after they'd been up there already a couple of years. Did grandpa live in Maine or did he actually move with them from Texas...

I'm not accusing anyone, I don't know what's bothering me. I mean four people were home and they'd have to all be lying if she did not take off.

What were the parents doing up til then though to support a large family if they did not have jobs?

Smh, I don't know. Something JUST doesn't feel right.

Mother’s ‘Worst Nightmare’ as Search Continues for Missing 12-Year-Old Maine Girl

Police in Maine are continuing their search for a 12-year-old girl who hasn’t been seen since last year.

According to Dateline, Stefanie Damron has been missing from her New Sweden, Maine, home since September 23. On that day, her mother, Lisa Damron, left to complete job application paperwork while a grandfather watched four of the six children, including Stefanie, at home.

“It’s the worst nightmare you wish you could wake up from, and it just keeps going,” Lisa Damron told Dateline. “I just want to know where my baby is. I just want my baby home.”

Maine State Police (MSP) said Stefanie was last seen leaving her home and walking into the woods along West Road in New Sweden. She left after an argument with her sister

“Before we left and stuff, she came up to me — was giving me love — and hugged me and told me she loved me and kissed me on the cheek,” Lisa said- “I kissed her back and told her I love her and, ‘I’ll be back.’”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the Maine Warden Service and state police K-9 Unit have previously searched swaths of land near where Damron disappeared.

The FBI is also helping to search, and currently offering a $15,000 reward “for information leading to the safe return of Stefanie Damron and/or information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in her disappearance.”

she needs to be found...... God i hope they find her soon.....

Last seen walking into the woods after an argument with her sister... I think both parents were out applying for jobs, she had an argument with her sister allegedly and she left the home and went into the woods... Not found. Family had moved, grandfather too, home schooled...

I'd like to know what proves she left and walked into the woods, is that verifiable? Or just what some family member claims...?

I find this one a bit hokey... I guess I mean I am not sold on anything yet.

Do you know more or have an opinion? I would be happy to hear it...

I don't know either... I do wonder about some basic things.

I'm not accusing anyone in the family and don't really have an opinion but I do have questions.

They moved here I forget from where but it was another state far away, I believe somewhere in the south if I recall. If both were out applying for jobs, it immediately leads me to wondering how they were getting by, paying the bills, feeding the kids, etc... I guess I mean did they have jobs prior at all? Grandpa was also there if I recall, not sure if he moved with them or he lived there and perhaps they moved in with him, did he own a home in Maine?

It just all seems a bit odd. Then they are home schooling the kids, and live rural... I mean to me this is pretty major stuff and changes for this 13 year old kid for instance... The parents said if I recall correctly their kids were comfortable "out" there and in these surroundings... I don't know...

13 is a hard age, at least it was for me I can remember to this day even in my old age lol... We lived rurally. I recall being bored. You are too young to drive, you can't go anywhere but you want to, whether shopping, the movies, just somewhere... I guess recalling such leads me to think she may be connected with someone. I got through, but we did not have devices then, SM, phones, computers, tablets, whatever... The age and time just passed for me... Here though you have a kid who was moved, etc. to the middle of nowhere. Did she leave friends behind? Was she still in touch with them somehow?

I don't know. I really don't have an opinion in this one or thought as to what happened... I have not dismissed family, but I also have not dismissed her meeting up with someone she was in contact with and who she found some way to be in contact with... I don't think she went in the woods and died. I don't know why, but I just don't lean that way. I mean it's sure possible, even suicide at that age, but for some reason I think it the least likely, again unsure why...

HOW is your laptop coming?? Very happy for you on your getting one!!!

Finally, yeah, not much news on this case either...

and yeah really just dont know what to make of this case. IF she wandered i still suspect foul play i dont really see a reason that overides the others on her not coming home, even if she was pissed off

I'm not sure on this one at all. We know she had access to devices. I'm torn on her meeting up with somebody the family wasn't aware of or if the entire running-into-the-woods story even happened. Lost in the woods is last on my list of what might have happened here.

I am very much the same. I don't have a real solid theory...

She is 13, dad says their kids are comfortable in their surroundings, who knows is true but I don't lean toward her lost or dying by accident in the woods...

We never get much info generally on families, the day, etc... I find a few things odd there but I am not going to outright accuse anyone. In some cases, I get a strong opinion but in this one, there just has not been enough yet... I do find a lot of things of note... Parents were at interviews, did they have jobs prior and how did the support their kids... Moving so many states away... Home schooling... If you both get jobs, are you going to be able to to home school... Did grandpa move with or did you move in with grandpa and he lived in ME...

I watch a number of YT cooks and life/family blogs and probably 3/4 of them at least home school... YT is their extra little money... Usually the hub works, the woman home schools and tries to get a YT channel going and growing... I don't have any suspicions with any of them, generally mom is home schooling and dad is generally a truck drive, does construction and is gone a lot or does long hours...

However, I have seen a number of cases where home schooling is a cover for family abuse or sexual molestation by a dad, a stepdad, a grandpa and so on... Or beating by both mom and dad and so on...

This family moved, states away... All states have various rules, or at least it used to be, with home schooling. Some more relaxed than others...

In every single case we see, no matter what it is about, man do I wish we could get just some mundane answers but we can't.. In most, a typical question of mine would be where everyone was all day at what time and what they were doing... I wonder such in just about every case... Was anyone at work that day, what time do they get home, did the family eat breakfast toghter, just mundane stuff...

I don't feel there is enough for me to accuse anyone but I do have a slight leaning... But no high percentage... The moving and all just kid of stands out to me... It could be typical, harmless, and normal, I have no idea...

Oh I'd also like to know about any criminal records and if CPS was ever involved, etc. in their former state...

Now she could have herself connected with and left with someone...

I know of a case like that and it ended up I believe in federal court. DArn if I can recall the name PLUS it got taken off as she was a minor... I followed it at WS/JT, not here. Her stepdad had been molesting her most of her life. For weeks, maybe months, we all thought she was with a bio dad and mom, not the case, there is news for ya... Don't know if mom turned a blind eye or what but she was charged with a few things too, don't know how that ever came out, like her charges.... The girl who I THINK was maybe 15 got a gamer, she was homeschooled and moved to the country, not allowed electronics or contact but like kids, she knew how to use I believe the gaming system to talk to someone. She got this guy to pick her up states away, he was from WI, she was somewhere in the south. He told her and they planned even I believe, she took her SHEETS which proved stepdad molested her... Of course adult WI guy and she had sex.... I have to say I struggled with that one. He did ten years in the fed pen but I think she was glad and willing to be with him BUT he was an adult and she was not.... He was living in his mom's basement, and mom didn't know she was there if I recall...

Anyone ever follow that one?

jAnyhow, because of other cases, like that one, my radar goes up a bit in this one... Recent move, live out in the midst of nowhere with no contact, parents looking for jobs...I just find that all a bit odd and noteworthy... Oh and home schooling... And grandpa there too...

I have a leaning but am not accusing anyone yet... Not enough info here....
