Police searching for missing 51-year-old woman last seen Sunday night

Police are looking for a woman who has been missing since Sunday night.

Suzanne Clark Simpson, 51, was last seen in the 500 block of East Olmos in Olmos Park at around 11 p.m.

Husband of missing Olmos Park woman arrested on family violence charges in Kendall County

The husband of a woman at the center of a missing persons case out of Olmos Park has been arrested on family violence charges, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

Brad Simpson, 53, was booked early Wednesday morning on charges of assault causing bodily injury-family violence and unlawful restraint. His bond amount is still pending.

He was arrested off Interstate 10 East on a frontage Road in Kendall County, Olmos Park police said.

The Olmos Park Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety are searching for Simpson’s wife, Suzanne Clark Simpson, who has been missing since Sunday.

During a news conference on Wednesday, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas said Brad Simpson is not currently a suspect in his wife’s disappearance at this time.

Suzanne Clark Simpson was last seen around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Olmos Drive, near Shook Avenue. Police said she was wearing a black dress that she went out in that night.

Sergeant Deon Cockrell said the search began in a woods area near Simpson’s home. Roads are closed off as the investigation continues and will be for the next 24 hours, according to police.

Police said there was a disturbance between the Simpsons after they left The Argyle in Alamo Heights between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Sunday.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Brad Simpson told officers that at 3 p.m. on Monday, their child’s school called him and advised him that their child had not been picked up from school. Suzanne Clark Simpson typically picks up their child from school, the affidavit states.

Villegas said Brad Simpson was supposed to have an appointment with him about his missing wife, but he was not cooperative and didn’t show up.

Police said they spoke with a neighbor who reported he saw the couple in a physical altercation on Sunday night. He added that he heard screams from a wooded area east of his residence.

Villegas said, to his knowledge, there is no history of domestic violence between the couple, but police are still investigating. However, he said many witnesses reported to police that there had been tension between the family.

Villegas said officers searched that wooded area and found two articles that they’re looking into, but he did not give any details about what those items were. He said he does not want people to try to search for Suzanne Simpson without police supervision.

“We’re very concerned,” Villegas said.

Suzanne Simpson’s cell phone is also missing, according to the chief. He said they’re working on obtaining search warrants to investigate the family’s home and trying to locate the cellphone.

Villegas also said they were looking into other properties that the family owns as well.

Olmos Park police are asking the public for tips in connection with Brad Simpon’s vehicle, a 2019 dark-colored GMC Sierra pickup truck. They are looking for any people who may have seen the truck Sunday night after the family violence incident.

Brad Simpson repeatedly invokes Fifth Amendment in hearing on children's custody
Brad Simpson was recently indicted on murder charges in the death of his wife, Suzanne Simpson. On Monday, he appeared via Zoom for a status hearing regarding the custody of his two youngest children.

This hearing was held to check in on how they're doing in their new living situation with an aunt and uncle.

Suzanne had a lawyer in this hearing, tasked with finding her and representing her.

Meredith Chacon questioned Brad directly: "Mr. Simpson, do you have any idea where Suzanne might be?"

In response to that question and each that followed, Brad's attorney asked that his client invoke the Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.

He was also asked about his comments at the last custody hearing when he said Suzanne may have gone to Austin with sorority sisters.

Child Protective Services caseworkers reported to the judge that the children are doing well and attending therapy. A court-appointed advocate noted that the older child has expressed a desire to have contact with his father, a request he also made in October.

Simpson's attorney has previously sought visitation privileges for him, but these have not been granted. The judge decided that the children would remain in their current placement and reminded Simpson that he could face termination of his parental rights.

The next hearing is scheduled for April 8, where updates on the children's situation and Suzanne's whereabouts will be discussed, and the case will be set for trial.

James Cotter, business partner of Brad Simpson, indicted in Suzanne Simpson case

James Cotter, the long-time business partner of Brad Simpson, was formally charged Monday in the case of missing Olmos Park mom Suzanne Clark Simpson.

He was indicted by a grand jury on charges of tampering with evidence with the intent to impair an investigation and possession of prohibited weapons, records with the Bexar County Jail show. The indictment was handed down from the 186th Court in Bexar County.

Cotter posted bond on Nov. 8 after having his bond reduced from $1 million to $100,000. Under the bond conditions, Cotter cannot have contact with Brad Simpson or have possession of a firearm. He was also fitted with a GPS monitor.

Cotter is accused of entering Brad Simpson’s gun room on Oct. 8, at his urging, and removing an AK-47 that was illegally modified and hiding it in his own home, police said. The firearm, which the feds said was modified into a “machine gun,” was not properly registered.

Cotter’s attorney, Robert Maurer, had asked the judge to reduce his bond, calling it unconstitutional. He derided the conditions inside the jail for Cotter.

I sure do hope Cotter was unaware that Simpson was wanting to harm his wife.........

Brad Simpson’s bond modified to allow letters from son; judge rebukes family for gag order violations

Slight modifications were made to Brad Simpson’s bond during a hearing on Thursday morning.

The modifications will allow the couple’s 15-year-old son to communicate with Brad Simpson through letters, which Child Protective Services will monitor.

Simpson is also not allowed to have contact with the couple’s 5-year-old daughter or James Cotter, his longtime business partner who is also facing charges in the case.

The couple’s two adult children asked for no contact; however, they asked for autonomy to decide if that should change, according to the state.

Judge Joel Perez reprimanded Bart Simpson, Brad’s brother, and Theresa Clark, Suzanne’s sister, for speaking to the media after a gag order was issued barring anyone from doing so. The court decided the following people involved in the case cannot discuss Simpson’s case with the media:
  • All attorneys and their staff
  • Law enforcement
  • Witnesses who have provided statements in Simpson’s case to law enforcement, representative of the District Attorney’s Office or who have testified in investigative or adjudicative proceedings.

Trial set for February 2025 in Brad Simpson's murder case over wife's disappearance
Brad Simpson, the man accused of killing his wife Suzanne Simpson has a trial date scheduled for February 12, 2025.

Husband, alleged killer of Suzanne Simpson will soon be back before a judge

Nearly two months since Brad Simpson saw a judge asking for permission to see his children, he’ll be back before the 437th state District Court in Bexar County on his murder charge. While court records indicate it’s a trial date February 12, it’ll more likely be time for both sides of the case to catch up and exchange evidence.

Simpson has been in police custody since October of 2024. Prosecutors and police say he murdered his wife, Suzanne Clark Simpson, on October 6 and spent the next day concealing her body. The wife’s body has yet to be located, but a very detailed warrant for Simpson’s arrest shows some highly suspicious activity the morning after she was last seen fighting with Simpson outside their Olmos Park home.

The wheels of justice turn notoriously slow, a prolonged process intended to assure the accused’s rights are honored, and it’ll likely be no different in Simpson’s murder and evidence tampering charges. While the court docket shows he’s set for trial February 12, a court official confirmed with MySA this will be a simple hearing. They confirmed there will likely be many hearings and months before a jury trial convenes.

The hearing will be at 9 a.m. on February 12 in the 437th state District Court in the Bexar County Courthouse, located on the third floor at 300 Dolorosa St.

I wonder if he wanted to see his children because he really cares about them or if he wanted to see his children to try to talk them out of testifying against him.
Had the same thoughts when I read it... I thought of Chad Daybell, I thought of Larry (can't think of last name) in the Maya case and many more--influencing their children or families and telling them to stifle or say falsehoods...

Another would be Kouri Richins, holding up a letter telling her brother and mother what to say... So many...

Hearing set for business associate of Brad Simpson in ongoing case
A new hearing is set in the case of James Cotter, the longtime business associate of Brad Simpson.

The hearing is scheduled for February 7. Cotter is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Court documents allege he helped Brad Simpson hide a fully automatic firearm from investigators while looking into Suzanne Simpson's disappearance.

He's asking a judge to remove a GPS monitor and to remove his travel restrictions.

Judge orders slight bond modifications for James Cotter; GPS monitoring stays in place

James Cotter, the longtime business partner of Brad Simpson, made his first court appearance on Thursday morning since his release on bond in November.

Some bond modifications were made; however, Cotter’s GPS monitoring would stay in place.

The judge waived a 75-mile travel requirement. Cotter will be able to travel for work and to visit family without getting court approval, but he will still be tracked, the judge said.

A monthly urinalysis requirement was also removed. Cotter is still prohibited from contacting Brad Simpson, who has been charged with Suzanne Simpson’s murder and from possessing a firearm.

The prosecution said it was in the process of downloading about two terabytes worth of information from the respective agencies involved and would turn it over to the defense.

The judge requested the two parties should come back in two weeks, though no specific date for Cotter’s next appearance was revealed.

But are they even actually monitoring his GPS ?

No real explanation why the judge agreed to this. The hearing was very hard to hear but from what I could tell, the State had no objection to these two things so why wouldn't the judge grant them I guess? So why didn't the State argue such?! I disagree with it, he allegedly was helping out an accused murderer with covering up, interfering with an investigation.

His bond was already reduced substantially and so he was able to make bond and now they just keep asking for and getting more...

You know, I was surprised to learn in another case that GPS monitoring is not what it’s made to seem in tv & movies. It’s not some beeping alarm system that alerts LE when you leave your perimeter. It’s only ever “monitoring” if someone goes in and manually reviews the data.
I learned that recently as well..... it is a shame... it is not effective that way

It ALL depends on the motoring company. It's an outside entity that does that. Not actually LE.

Attorneys tell judge more evidence is coming in the murder case of Suzanne Clark Simpson

Brad Chandler Simpson appeared before Judge Joel Perez Wednesday in the 437th District Court at the Bexar County Courthouse on a murder charge and for tampering with evidence with the intent to impair an investigation.

He’s accused of killing his wife Suzanne Clark Simpson, who disappeared on Oct. 6. She was last seen at a birthday party that evening at The Argyle wearing a long, black dress and black heels. Officials said the search has turned into a recovery effort.

Friends of both Brad and Suzanne Clark Simpson filled two rows of bench seats inside Perez’s courtroom as a handcuffed Brad Simpson walked with his eyes focused on the judge, avoiding eye contact with anyone else in the courtroom.

On Wednesday, Brad Simpson’s attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the indictment, which was denied. During the 5-minute hearing, both the prosecution and the defense said discovery is incomplete in this case and that they would need more time.

The judge offered a 90-day period to reset the discovery hearing, but both sides agreed they could come back sooner.

The next hearing is scheduled for March 12, according to the 437th District Court.

The prosecution will continue to sift through one terabyte of data until then, and wait for outstanding forensic testing to be completed. The prosecution said it’s still awaiting about six terabytes of evidence from the Texas Rangers.
