ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - St. Petersburg police detectives are desperate to find a 2-year-old St. Petersburg boy whose mother was found dead in their northeast St. Pete apartment Thursday.

Taylen Mosley just turned 2 on March 12. He is now the subject of a statewide Amber Alert.

St. Petersburg chief of police Anthony Holloway said during a press conference Thursday evening that Taylen was last seen with his mother, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffery, around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday outside their Lincoln Shores apartment on 4th Street North.

"Our main concern is we need to find this two-year-old," Chief Holloway said.

Holloway said a neighbor came forward to report hearing "a commotion" coming from Jeffery's apartment on Wednesday night, but police were not called at the time.

"Earlier today, the family did not hear from the deceased, so they asked the apartment manager to come do a check on them," Chief Holloway said.

Detectives believe Jeffery was killed inside her apartment. Her body was found around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The view from SkyFOX showed crime scene tape draped around a parking lot. The doors and trunk of a parked blue vehicle were open, with items sitting on the sidewalk behind it. Holloway confirmed the car belonged to Jeffery.

Police are not sure if Taylen was home at the time.

"That crime scene is very violent on the inside [of the apartment]," Chief Holloway said. "We want to find Taylen. That's our main goal right now… We just want to make sure the child is safe," Holloway said.

The chief asked any neighbor or nearby resident who has cameras or information that could help them find Taylen to come forward.

The chief said police have not spoken to Taylen's father, but they are sure Taylen is not with his father.

Taylen is described as a Black male who is 2 feet tall and weighs 30 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

This perp is another pretty dumb one. And particularly evil and at such a young age.

Overkill of stab wounds to mom and then child found in mouth of alligator and then goes to his mom's with stab wounds and goes to a hospital. Then bloody fingerprint, etc. and more at the scene. Yeah, I agree a defense attorney would be hard pressed to find one other than trying the usual insanity or incompetence route....

The toddler’s name was written on his casket in the style of the “Toy Story” logo. Images of Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Mr. Potato Head were printed along the top. He lay in the front of the church next to his mother’s light pink casket.

Just over a week after the two died, dozens gathered at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg on Friday afternoon for an emotional funeral for Taylen Mosley, 2, and his mother Pashun Jeffery, 20.

Thomas Mosley double-murder case: State wants hospital records for man accused of killing toddler, child's mom

The man who’s charged with killing his two-year-old son and his child’s mother appeared in a courtroom in Pinellas County Tuesday.

Sixth Circuit Court Judge Susan St. John heard arguments about whether the prosecution will be allowed to obtain 21-year-old Thomas Mosley’s medical records from St. Anthony’s Hospital last month.

The state submitted a subpoena for Mosley’s medical records, and the defense filed an objection to the subpoena on April 11. In the objection, the defense says Mosley’s medical records are protected under state and federal rights to privacy and should not be given to the prosecution.

"This Court must act as a shield to protect the Defendant's right to privacy by determining whether the requested medical records are relevant to a pending criminal investigation," the objection states, in part.

Attorneys said in court Tuesday that Mosley had surgery while he was in the hospital, and he was also put under a Baker Act. Prosecutors told the judge they don’t want any records related to the Baker Act, but argued Mosley’s medical records related to the lacerations and to his bloodwork are relevant to the case.

"Based on the affidavit and how we know Pashun Jeffery was killed that day, these medical records are relevant because it will give the state information in its investigation as to the treatment, how severe these injuries were, how they had to be treated, what the surgery entailed, all of that information, which is highly relevant to our crimes of first degree murder," prosecutor Courtney Sullivan said.

Sullivan said they want to see if Mosley made any statements to hospital staff about how the injuries happened or why he was at the hospital as well.

Prosecutors also said toxicology records would show whether Mosely was under the influence of anything else before or at the time of the homicides.

FFS! I've seen, Read and heard the worst. This is one. I am in shock. The father counted on this?. I just...How could anyone do this to anyone?. It's your own child too. Depravity, Horrific and evil are the closest words I can come up with for this. But there are none to really express this.

The Florida toddler who was found last month in the jaws of an alligator was drowned by his father, police said Monday.

The cause of 2-year-old Taylen Mosley’s death was determined to be a drowning, St. Petersburg police said in a statement, which said they confirmed the drowning with the Pinellas County medical examiner.

A police spokesperson said Monday that Mosley threw or placed his son in Lake Maggiore, where the child was found in an alligator's mouth.

You kill your TWO year old son. What was it? Child support? Daddy no wanna pay just wanna play? Fun to do the act that creates a child but no way do you want to deal with the consequences.

It is bad enough to kill the adult, the mother of your child, but your CHILD TOO?

I mean this wasn't just rage or accidental. You went from one killing to the next with time to reconsider or stop. Didn't get rid of her body but you did your child's so more conscious time and decision made. And you left him to gators!!!

What a SICK SOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROT IN HE77.

A not guilty plea. Of course. Hahahahahaha. I guess there's a chance in he77 he didn't do it...

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Thomas Mosley, the St. Petersburg man accused of killing his 2-year-old son and the toddler’s mother, has pleaded not guilty, according to court documents.

Mosley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Taylen Mosley and Pashun Jeffery, which happened after the family celebrated the defendant’s birthday in late March.

Investigators said Mosley stabbed Jeffery more than 100 times. After the toddler’s mother was found dead in her St. Pete apartment, 2-year-old Taylen was reported missing. The same night, Mosley appeared at his mother’s house with cuts along his arms and hands, according to the arrest report.

Authorities later found Taylen’s body inside an alligator’s mouth in Lake Maggiore, more than 10 miles from his home. Officials listed the toddler’s cause of death as drowning.

Court documents show that prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against Mosley. Prosecutors have laid out numerous reasons for seeking the death penalty — arguing the crime was especially cruel, the victim was younger than 12 years old and was more vulnerable because his accused killer had authority over him as his parent, court filings said.

Yeah. The alligator part really bothers me. The idea is just so horrific. Throwing anyone to alligators to dispose of is beyond. Then it's a 2 yr old. And his own son.

He deserves death. I can't imagine the image of they saw of him in an alligator's mouth. And stabbed 100 TIMES!!! He was angry with this child?. It takes 1 stab to kill someone. 100 is rage. Why?. He must have kept stabbing him after he was dead. Not guilty huh?. O.K.

It was the mother I am pretty sure that was stabbed 100 times.. Jeffrey is the mom's last name, not the name of the boy .

Have they released the cause of death of the child, I can't recall; I do recall the alligator part as we likely all do :(

Thomas Mosley found incompetent to stand trial for murders of toddler son, child’s mother

A St. Petersburg man accused of killing his 2-year-old son and the child’s mother was found incompetent to stand trial on Wednesday.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Thomas Mosley, 21, who they say stabbed Pashun Jeffrey, 20, over 100 times inside of her apartment. The toddler, Taylen Mosley, was initially reported missing, but was later found dead in the jaws of an alligator at Lake Maggiore.

Mosley was charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection to the deaths. His attorney entered a “not guilty” plea on his behalf earlier this year and his competency will be reevaluated in April.

Judge declares Thomas Mosley unfit to stand trial

Thomas Mosley, the 21-year-old man charged with killing a woman and their 2-year-old son, has been declared unfit to stand trial now.

A judge ruled Mosley was incompetent for trial after reviewing mental evaluations from two court-appointed doctors. Per their recommendation, Mosley will be transferred to the state psychiatric hospital in Chattahoochee. His case will be reevaluated in April 2024.
