Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

It shouldn't be up to the government to tell people NOT to smoke. They don't tell people NOT to drink. They are all hypocrites and attack what doesn't pertain to them.
 
I figured this was coming because it's 65 degrees already this morning & very humid for being December. Kind of reminds me of last Friday.

We are already getting the high winds and they are only supposed to intensify throughout the day. The roads are very wet even with no rain for weeks because of condensation and between that and the wind, there are wrecks everywhere right now. It feels very much like an early spring storm brewing out there, but we are only supposed to get the wind, but might get a wee bit of rain as the cold front pushes through this evening.

Four years after the fact they release this which shows very little detail... They have canvassed the neighbors apparently and looked into this for four years but they think this late even so someone may know something about a person one can't even make out to be male or female? I recall this case seeming to be maybe mishandled or quieted at the start and then never heard much again and couldn't recall for sure though so googled a bit and found this. It interestingly references Epstein's case/death but goes into how cops and some pathologists etc. get suicide or murder wrong re the hyoid and more.

What do the mysterious cases of Barry and Honey Sherman and Jeffrey Epstein have in common? A U-shaped neck bone to which too much significance is attached during a death investigation

A broken hyoid bone means murder; an unbroken one, suicide ... so went the theory, but forensic experts tell the Star that it’s not that simple — context matters a great deal.

But generally the fracture of the hyroid bone is strangulation taken to the extreme. It takes quite a bit of force. It speaks of a personal crime usually and alot of anger.
