Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Yep. It's absolutely over the top ridiculous. Yet so many just stay silent, in their own bubble, ambivalent. Hey I'm no angel, I've been guilty of such myself. Scared to mess with powers that be. But i'm far from the worst.

Theoretically people can make a difference but they divide and conquer. The last generations don't even know how to debate without offense. No one can even talk of it.

I'm more and more glad every single day I was raised how I was. Think I've said it a few times.

I'm more and more glad my kids never got into drugs, probably one of the worst causes of things in this world.

This probably all sounds stupid.

I read it, talk of over the top but again our politics, etc .NO ONE involved in 9/11 should not be put to life or death to dial it down which I'm better at I think lately.

Our news is worthless. We see proof of it over and over and over.

I try really hard to watch sane people lol.

You know, everything here, changes a lot like every two or four years, however congress never does.

But sheriffs often do, DAs, judges, many others. IMHO it's both good and bad. Laws vary in every state. I'd hope others would join in here. Federal is different than state, they don't align at all.

Imo you know our system better than most of us know yours.

However, NOTHING can be talked of these days and that's SO ridiculous. Several generations now.

My kids have come through the bs taught, one probably more than the other, but they have.

I know how I sound, but they have minds of their own and they were the generation I started hearing these ones and those ones, OMG and it is when I first realized what was going on in schools, I mean spelling lists were sent home and spelled wrong.

Now I'm way off course.

And not meaning to involve you. People don't even as we see try to save others any longer but will film it, they are ambiivalent, in their own bubble and now we are nixed of talking of anything.

On 09/11 the world came together imo. I know as many do where I was that day. It lasted what minutes, a week, before the BS started? Cable news when I started to realize.

I know what I sound like. And I do NOT care. People need to learn to talk again with no prohibited subjects.

I don't mean to do this on your post, but it's something else. No one involved in 09/11 should have any deal. EVER.

Well we can't talk some things but the year, and this time of year in this year, almost does not surprise me with all the weird sh*t lately.

Anyway you look at it though they are crimes, with people dead.

They are NOT heroes.

I'm not even taking the dive and no intent of doing so, but have read the posts,

A couple of ways all the very weird sh*t in December can be taken. I'll leave that there,

I said in another also weird one that back when I wanted to one day go to NYC but man I changed my mind on that over the years. Another big one wants New Orleans and I long ago dropped that one of my list too. Several others too including not just states or cities but even some various countries. NO thanks, not any longer.

Every single one of these recent cases involve big cities. Kind of odd imo, I guess news is on a political break. But it really never breaks from such either in these later years.

Oh and border crossing too, not all but in a couple now.

What do we have? Green cards.... Killing of a health care exec some try to make into a hero. I told my daughter who was here earlier that he's actually imo no different than like a school shooter, a mall or mass shooter, terroristic, attn seeking type although he only killed one. She has followed it somewhat and she told me that's a very good point and she can see that. Man, I'm glad she can and there are moments when kids get older... Then the woman on the subway. All big cities. Some border crossings.

I can do basically nothing right now. This daughter and I have some pretty good talks that no one can even do online in some places. Because people don't know how to and all the PC. So now we have another...

They had a horrid flight day as I've shared somewhat, weather so many places. I Believe you said there too.

I find it kind of interesting news is ever covering anything as they typically don't and can't do sh*t on crime generally. Funny month. Not funny in the humorous meaning. Constant too.

Morgan Geyser, convicted of stabbing a classmate to please the fictional horror character Slender Man more than a decade ago, was granted conditional release from a state psychiatric hospital on Thursday, Jan. 9.

In his decision, Judge Michael Bohren said conditional release would not post a significant risk to the public or Geyser. Even the prosecution's only witness was in favor of conditional release for Geyser.

The latest petition marked the fourth time in the past two years Geyser asked to be let out of the facility. An evaluation was ordered in November.

The same three doctors who evaluated Geyser last year returned to the Waukesha County Courthouse with a different outcome on Thursday. In 2024, two of them testified Geyser was not ready to move into a group home. Now, they call Geyser a "bright young woman" who is no longer a danger. Doctors said Geyser no longer hears voices and has been off anti-psychotic medications for years.

These people who hear voices in their head, should ask them what the winning lottery numbers will be for the next drawing. If they don't know, then they're imaginary and just ignore them.

So how, less than a year after 2 out of 3 drs saying she wasn't ready and evidently already off psychotic meds for years, she is now ready? What changed?
