Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Did he even get to prison?? It's usually not immediate even after sentencing.

Part of me wants to think this is fishy... I tend to have those thoughts pop into my head when it's someone rich or power or with influential connections...

One thing is for sure, he certainly didn't get near the justice he deserved to serve on this earth.

Yes he did! He was hospitalized after the guilty verdict due to COVID and the court had to wait for sentencing so he could be present.

It's definitely okay to start a thread for the "Shopping Cart Killer". Crimes is a perfect place for it.

I am going to put this here as well as on a couple of the cases because Scott ran the gamut of cases tonight. It was a really good show:

Scott's always good and very informative legally but some shows strike me more than others or some have cases I follow and some don't. Tonight, wow, this one just struck me really good. He is in high form with cutting remarks and humor. He covered, Stauch, touched on Vallow, covered Murdaugh and says this is going far bigger and it is a criminal enterprise they had going on. He said the bank in question has been there throughout since like 1903 or something and guaranteed the bank guy that got let go will likely need to flip on Murdaugh as banks were involved, lawyers, etc. in this money scheme. I AM paraphrasing.

He covered Durst and made no bones about what type of man he was (not a good one). Just a really good show!

Letecia apparently thinks she should not be required to be in court as it stresses her out. Oh well poor child. Maybe you shouldn't have murdered an innocent child!! I highly recommend watching this one for all of the cases. I probably missed a couple cases even he covered. And it's not all that long either. There is more info on the Stauch than what I mentioned as well.

That idiot barely just was convicted. He kept sliding on charges for decades on 2 definite murders and I think the murder of his wife, Even though she was never found. And I believe he killed her dog too.
