ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

They didn’t want anyone to know there was an investigation going on. They were probably using undercover cops.

The investigation is over and very soon after the arrests, people started making plea deals. They probably have A LOT of evidence.

I'm sure the victim being a popular celebrity had something to do with it too.
And working up the ladder, getting the low fruit to get the higher up

He's an anaesthologist? Coincidence or what?
Huh? The WIFE is. I might not have been clear. He is an unemployed video game playing loser as far as I I know who left his kids in the car quite often while the wife worked. Ye she is sticking by him, and I sure have words for THAT. I'll save people..

The placement of this post threw me as anesthesiology was just being talked of in Matthew Perry. Until I saw it was about the two year old's hot car death.

No, this man is a total loser imo who can't be this stupid but can be this selfish and unconcerned until he was arrested and then he was crying his eyes out, never saw a tear over his "baby" though.

Was he wealthy? Admittedly I resist Hollywood kind of stuff but other than Friends and maybe a few movie roles did he have a lot or not waste it on habits, etc.? Many live beyond their means and try to keep up with the A List types. All such a persona kind of thing...
So I am curious, do you have anything in local news to indicate supplier etc. are being looked into in the KC fans case/ Not much different really. But they aren't Matthew Perry.

I have trouble In that this doesn't['t happen in all and it is just like overserving alcohol. Either it is wrong or it is not. Despite the individual's own choices or addictions.

I heard he makes $20,000,000 a year just for "Friends" residuals.

Yes sorry the wife. I just wondered if the husband was sampling or even dealing in the stuff and that was the real reason he left her in the car. What does the husband do?

Okay. I would'n't have known that. Not my kidney of thing (I did NOT type kidney, this machine did, I typed KIND) but that makes one wonder for sure... That's a lot of money to water and live beyond one's means and go to black market prices and not have enough money, etc. to do so.

That doesn't mean he either still isn't frugal OR that he might spend more than he makes.
yeah, many of them do live beyond their means even with that kind of income. travel, appearances, keeping up with looking like one has it all... Still, that's a LOT. of annual income. Even after taxes. But then Cali is expensive and so is probably upkeep on any mansion or wherever he might live and so on.

From what I understand, he does NOTHING. Deadbeat. Supposed to watch the kids I guess while she had the career and he could not even do that.

It was said he allegedly had an alcohol problem I saw in one show early on. Not positive news has the facts right on these things but no reason to doubt such.

The man even has an older daughter from another relationship that told cops about being left in the car. So did both this child's sibling and there are texts showing mom told him to stop DOING such. And man, this sis ARIZONA. I think all now how HOT we are talking then at this time of year EVEN if left OUTSIDE in the yard or something. I've been there. I know. Twice.

Even though little time, I need some new cases as the ones I do follow don't have a lot going on and or are waiting for trial, etc. When I do want to follow one and get some time to spend on it.

This is NOT the type I was looking for but I saw it early on and thought probably an oversight,, accident and then in short order all this other stuff came out and so I am now on it. That's generally how it happens. Usually it is a missing child I hope is found quickly but then the real story ends up being found out a parent did it or something and that's how I end up in such.

You know the other two kids are older, I forget the ages but there is quite a gap between the two year old and them... Did he resent having another baby interfering with his gaming and selfishness? I have to wonder also about mom in that if this man was always leaving all the kids in the car over years and not taking care of them and had an alcohol problem, you go have another baby for him to do that with...

I hate saying that but even though upset about this death she stands by him and what is wrong with that? What does it take? He was told. He was warned. And he lied. He doesn't work to my knowledge and puts video games and his selfish habits over the kids. Leaving a kid in a car in average weather anywhere while you bring in groceries or some such is one thing, In AZ in the summer and for hours on end is entirely another thing.

And the man is like shocked he has been arrested. Huh? There's evidence all over the place and he lied repeatedly. I think he really expected to get away with this and i'm torn on if this was an accident or not. It at least was an intentional leaving in the car...

As far as drugs, who knows. Types like this, nothing would surprise me. He's a deadbeat from all I've heard and can't even watch the kids safely when mom earns the money.

and then his mother in law too is on the body cam as if she has any authority saying she understands BUT stop it, this poor man just lost his daughter! You know have some compassion and believe me they were pretty nice as it was to him.

We have a wife and in law in major blindness and denial if you ask me. Yes, he lost his daughter. BECAUSE HE LEFT HER IN A CAR In the ARIZONA SUN for hours and lied about checking on her or anything else. NEVER had the air on as he claimed or so it sounds.

And so I already out of the gate am also not a fan of mom or mom in law. The kids told the truth the way it sounds. And mom did in a text. She helped put him where he is.

They need to get a clue. This is not okay. Maybe he never thought such could happen but tha's a bit hard to believe but you know what, even if so,, it did, and he had been told and told.

The kids are wiser, smarter and better than the adults. Doctor or not.

Sorry. It maddens me. And watching him cry for self, OMG, put me over the top. Just thought life would go on, no big deal, just a child lost, never meant to... It's just outrageous. And maybe even intentional and thought he'd get away with it? Charges are upgraded to first degree.

More on Matthew Perry. These people murdered him IMO.

"He also allegedly taught Iwamasa how to inject Perry with ketamine without proper safety procedures and surveillance, the police indictment says.
In the four days before his death, Iwamasa gave Perry at least 27 shots of ketamine, prosecutors alleged.
He did so even after a large dose of ketamine earlier that month caused Perry to "freeze up", leading Mr Plasencia to advise against a similar-sized dose in the future, prosecutors said. The doctor still left several vials of the drug with the actor and his assistant after the incident, according to the indictment."

At $2k a vial, 27 shots in 4 days would be about $54k worth. Expensive treatment/habit at $13,500 a day, which eventually killed him. $135k 10 days, 30 days $405k, 1 year $5 million.

Wow. That says a lot. It makes his income not so much now doesn't it...

I have not and may not get to reading any link. I keep thinking of Michael Jackson for some reason. They may be addicts but the rich and famous can get anything they want if willing to pay for it and the ones who provide it don't necessarily care.

Like I said, overall, it I snot my kind of case. There's so much of a different justice and different lifestyles than the average person.

I guess he is going down as not that nice guy on Friends in that he was like him in real life.

I don't think the choices he made should be lost here.

And the math you just did is based on what is known and that's a LOT of ketamine. and he already had an adverse reaction.

I probably like Baldwin, will not get totally into this but I know the basics of most such cases. I didn't follow Amber Heard and Depp either but know the basics. Or most of such kind of cases.

Yeah they probably killed him but he also had an addiction, a bad one. And he also killed self over need for it. Jmo.

It won't go to court. Three of them already have plea deals. But i don't agree with this under the radar justice and who is this other victim for whom we only have initials? How common is this ? With his personal assistant acting as his dealer, it is like they targeted him because of his wealth - flies round a honeypot.

@Tresir

That is heartwarming but also sad. Maybe more sad.

I have an opinion of inbreeding dogs and mankind messing wiith such. It probably would not be a popular one.

Her sight could not be saved but she has adapted which is awesome but still sad.

Yeah I remarked on the initials above. What's the big secret that another victim is not named?

I'd say flies around a honeypot is an apt description and very likely.

They have deals already? Wow. Worked their way up I guess.

It's also sad that people get into such things and that he did but perhaps someone helped lead him there too. In general however, the person who has made the choices he did is on him as well but it sure does not excuse them.

Nothing likely would have come of anything like this if he is an average Joe and not a celebrity.

It is one of many reasons, I don't much follow "Hollywood" kinds of cases or they're not one of the first kinds I tend to follow anyhow. I can't say I never have. I certainly followed OJ but look at how justice worked or did not work there...

Such turn me off for the most part.

I followed Masterson to a certain extent but not t first I didn't.

I generally know the basics but hey never really grab me like other types of cases where the victims are truly vulnerable and innocent. Yet those are very hard.

Justice matters in all cases and I just don't like the different justice system for "important" people...
