ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

I posted another article a day or two back on this one. This loser is still at large. Go figure takes her out but not himself as is so often the case, just a female I suppose, expendable to him, I'll get another. I feel so horrible for her family. What a "man". What is that on his necklace? An angel? Hmph. I truly wonder what PiecesOS like this face when they meet the maker. They need to find him already and arrest him.

I don't think it's an angel. But it does look like a Catholic image of some kind.

So the 15 year old kid is testifying at the trial of both of his parents and one of the defense attorney keeps interrupting that she can't hear him... Then it is she couldn't see when he described, etc... Always nicely but constantly... So obvious. I want to SLAP her. Stupid games. I don't think any fool would buy it... I think he is dealing with enough. It did not shake him though. Dead infant brother. I tend to avoid such cases at times but I didn't know what it was about until I watched.

Her questioning was not any more impressive.

Yep. I think this is a live ongoing trial right now. I haven't been watching it but went into this clip because it was short when I was looking for something else. What a strong kid. He seemed to just tell what he knew, not in favor of or against them but most of what he knew does not favor them. I have seen way older family members try to lie and paint a relative innocent on the stand. He is more of an adult than many.

If they paid a settlement. But found no wrong doing. What I can gather is the boy was reaching or pulled out the pellet gun. And Police can't tell the difference.
Yes, the things I have read on this one, I don't see any clear wrongdoing. It was definitely a tragedy and the child was only 12 but they also likely did not know that nor know what the gun was.

Smh.

It's what I have been saying all along. If some to many politicians are truly concerned about the virus and it spreading, the rules do not show that. Walmarts and Costcos remain open where small businesses are hit or closed and it is arguably easier to keep smaller places safe. The LAST place I would go would be to Walmart, Costco, Sam's but I have little fear of going to my tobacco shop. They can easily maintain the mask rule and number of customers and distancing. Yet here they close them all down at one point. Yet the gas stations selling it could stay open, go figure... What is the REAL intent behind that. Some are no bigger than the smoke shop for size... Oh well...

"Yakima County commissioners issued a statement this week saying they agree with keeping the store open, but sharply criticized Gov. Jay Inslee’s orders meant to slow virus spread, which impact small businesses, schools and churches.

“Our local Costco store can remain safely open despite a known outbreak, and yet our schools, restaurants, gyms, theaters, and other businesses cannot,” commissioners said.

Commissioners approved a proclamation earlier this month calling on Inslee to give local authorities more say in managing the coronavirus pandemic.

As cases began to surge in November, Inslee ordered new shutdowns Nov. 15 for restaurants, theaters and gyms."
