Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Almost nobody goes to jail from corporations. Someone should have done jail time for the Ford Pinto corporate coverup, but IIRC, nobody did. They were just fined. Same with PGE (The Erin Brockovich movie case.)
 
Not sure if this is okay to post but it is regarding a state not fed and my remark is pretty generic on it and not weighted in any direction: I think something like this needs to be explained to the public as to what is going on! These are public elected leaders. As for what I think other than that, I have no idea because they provide little to no information. It could be serious corruption/crime or it could be a witch hunt.

Colorado has gone nuts when it comes to crime, I swear. On the other hand this sounds like that other case and boy we do seem to see copy cat things in the past year.

Have not identified the body but already have an arrest and pretty sure they know who the body belongs to. Must be just waiting formal identification if they arrested someone already.

The charter school in the Nevada lawsuit, the Democracy Prep at the Agassi Campus, allegedly forced students to identify by race, sex and sexual orientation and then labeled some of them as “oppressors” in classes. The critical race curriculum was launched without parental notification, according to the lawsuit in federal district court.

The plaintiff is William Clark, a senior who has attended DPAC for several years and is viewed as White by his classmates. His mother, Gabrielle Clark, is Black. His deceased father was White.

The Clarks contend that William was uncomfortable revealing personal information in the new Sociology of Change class or participating in activities in a separate Change the World class. He felt it branded him immediately as a racist oppressor while violating his Christian faith, according to the lawsuit.

The school “deliberately created a hostile education environment for [William] who unlike his classmates appears to be and is regarded by his peers as white,” according to the lawsuit.

The school rejected offers for a compromise arrangement and retaliated against William with threats to fail him and refuse a diploma, thereby jeopardizing his shot at college, Mr. O’Brien said.

DPAC Principal Adam Johnson did not respond to a request for comment from The Washington Times.

Cooke went missing in Georgetown on January 10, 2002, while visiting her parents on winter break from college. Her family has not seen her since that morning, when her mother left to work.

Now, almost two decades later, the sheriff’s office is looking for someone who was living in the Georgetown area at the time of her disappearance and is known to have associated with her.

She was last seen about 200 yards away from her home.

The person the sheriff’s office is looking for information about is known to be involved in the cattle/horse industry and investigators believe they may have mentioned details about Cooke’s disappearance to an acquaintance, “likely speaking of the incident in third person and distancing himself from any actual involvement.”

Pintos are fine as long as you're not turning left, Have your signal on and get rear ended. Nothing wrong there. PG&E got tagged. Their seepage into ground water gave cancer to and killed people. They weren't properly lining waste holding ponds etc. Among other intfractions. Where I worked 2001-03 I had them as a customer. I hated it.
 
A bit hard to follow because father and son apparently have the same and first last name. At first I thought the molester killed the one molesting but the molester was caught and he killed his father who caught him and then his stepmother. A machete no less AND he enters the child's room with a machete to molest her.

Sick, sad and tragic.
