Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I wonder about that as well. Im wondering who provided the headstone because obviously Rayne never had any money and had a career as a parasite on society. She expected the entire world to pay for everything for her kids. I imagine the money or stone was donated and thus is her legal property to dispose of.
Whether it is legal or not, it is absolutely shameless and disrespectful. But Rayne never cared for or protected Cherish when she was alive so why should it be any different now?

I am so very far behind on this thread so maybe it is known this cannot be the case but I don't know so is it possible it was taken to be repaired? I do know this is done, usually the maker of the stone for what the high dollar amount they cost you will pick it up if issues after ordered or over time with the quality or if vandalized, that is also who you would likely have repair it. There would be no question or risk if they came in to retrieve it safely to repair it. Just a thought.
