ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

So how, less than a year after 2 out of 3 drs saying she wasn't ready and evidently already off psychotic meds for years, she is now ready? What changed?
Doesn't make much sense does it? Did she change what she said and they stupidly bought it? Because it's the same three doctors too... Not like they changed, the panel I mean. Doesn't say much for their smarts imo.

Hard case to forget plus it was Wisconsin.

So a lot appears to have changed sinced the stabbing though.

"In 2024, two of them testified Geyser was not ready to move into a group home.

1. Now, they call Geyser a "bright young woman" who is no longer a danger.
2. Doctors said Geyser no longer hears voices and has been off anti-psychotic medications for years.

3. Geyser now identifies as a transgender man.

4. Therapists said he was sexually abused as a child.

5. They believe Geyser has, essentially, outgrown treatment options at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.

Geyser withdrew their first two petitions. Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Michael Bohren denied his third request, saying Geyser remained a risk to the public.

6. Last May, a doctor diagnosed Geyser with autism spectrum disorder.

7. Geyser was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia. Doctors said neither of those things impacted Geyser's mental health recovery. "

Amazing all these changes in just a decade. I don't think that means there is less risk though.

Didn't know half of these things. My God.

Not only in a decade. But in a year even.

I'm sorry, I don't want this person on the streets. Ever. She killed someone.

‘Monstrous.’ Arrests made in the death of missing Columbia girl found beaten and burned
Two teenagers have been arrested in the death of a missing South Carolina girl, in a case described as “gruesome” and “monstrous,” the Columbia Police Department announced at a news conference Saturday.

Firefighters found the body of Ka’Niyah Baker, 13, inside an unoccupied home in northeast Columbia shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after responding to a small structure fire in the 100 block of Cardamon Court..

Baker’s death was a “horrible” homicide, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said. She died from blunt force trauma after being bludgeoned, stabbed and burned.

Two suspects in Baker’s death were arrested overnight.

The first is a 16-year-old girl whose last known address was in Columbia, Holbrook said. The girl has a history of disorderly conduct, malicious injury, throwing bodily fluids and was wanted by the Department of Juvenile Justice for cutting off her ankle monitor. She was last enrolled at a local high school earlier this month but was listed as having recently dropped out. She was reported missing by her mother on Jan. 12 and is a frequent runaway, according to police.

The second is a 15-year-old girl from Columbia who had also been enrolled in a local high school as of December and was also a frequent runaway.

Fifth Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson said the two suspects were charged with murder.

We should start a thread for this.

WHAT is wrong with people! This teacher was arrested last week. A 12 year old got her pregnant and it came to light when the boy's father thought the teacher's child looked like his son if I understand it correctly. I have not watched it all yet but that's what has been said so far.
