Amber Alert issued for pregnant teenager suspected to be with 40-year-old man​

An Amber Alert has been issued for a pregnant teenager who is believed to be with a 40-year-old man.

Sophia Franklin, 16, was last seen Sunday night at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She is three months pregnant.

Authorities believe she is with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, who is the father of Sophia’s unborn child. He was last seen at Sophia’s home Monday morning.

Day and Sophia have a no-contact order.

They are believed to be traveling in a 2014 model black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas license plate BBR 20L.

Police Chief John Kreuzinger tells Action 2 News there are now “very few” tips coming in on 16-year-old Sophia Franklin.

Chief Kreuzinger says Franklin has not had any contact with anyone, but her family wants her to come home.

He is calling on 40-year-old Gary Day to turn himself in.
 
Hmm.

Saying she hasn't had contact but her family wants her home sounds as if they think she could make contact if she wanted to. Not sure how they'd know that. Imo it also give the impression she is with him willingly but who knows if that is true either...?

If they truly can't find them then I have to assume either he planned this and had supplies, cash, a place OR someone is helping him/them.

So she's to have her first child unaided and alone wherever they are holed up?

I’m starting to wonder if they are still alive. In similar cases, it ends up in murder suicide. Of course, I really hope this speculation is wrong and they are just holed up somewhere.

I can't say it hasn't crossed my mind as well. It does every time I do a post pretty much.

I tell myself though they'd have found them if that was in the case. I mean let's say he took her to the middle of the woods and killed them both, they'd find the car on the side of the road then by now. I guess he could park in on some trail possibly and MAYBE it wouldn't be found. In a motel room they'd be found by now. I'd think LE would have eyes on any residence or cabin owned by him or his mother/family, etc.

At least these are the things I tell myself to talk myself out of that he killed her and then self. He also could have done that right there in front of her family, in the driveway, etc... Of course though the warrant and Amber Alert could have pushed him later on to feeling cornered...

I'm thinking it's unlikely but probably I just prefer to believe that. They talk as if they think they are alive and that she even may be with him willingly.

The longer this goes on though with no sightings and LE not finding them, the more I wonder... So yeah, I sure do get the thought...

Yeah and she had a cover story and if I recall someone lying for her and I guess the parents did not care enough to in that period of time insist on seeing her in person, PLUS she talked to them on the phone. None of that is going on this time. They at least knew she was alive then.
 
They could be holed up with a friend or relative of his, too.

Honestly, I'm not convinced anyone is seriously looking for them. This is the 2nd time this has happened. We all know how the first time went.
 
I myself have wondered at times if they are looking or if they even know where they are perhaps... It seems unlikely when they are still asking for help and tips but nothing seems really, I lack the right word, maybe SERIOUSr efforts...? Or sincere? Vague too and just very general sounding...

Hard to say but all thoughts cross my mind. Either he really had a plan and they are holed up well or have help, hopefully they are both alive, or something else is going on here or more is known than we know...

Her parents certainly don't seem frantic...

I've wondered if my own state is doing their job and seriously at it or not...?

We know so little after all this time that any scenario is still possible imo...

They also could be in a state far, far from here, one they aren't looking in...

I agree and think that if they have a different vehicle or are in a state where there is no alert, there is not much chance of finding them unless she attends hospital or a doctor for pre-natal care.

I don't recall anything but one supposed "hint" of a sighting in Missouri and that was some time after the fact. I'm not even convinced they headed in that direction because there's been little to nothing. Of course the Alert wasn't out in that state right away either.

Anything is still possible based on the basically zero we know. Hard to say what the scenario is.

I don't see them seeking prenatal care. I can see them in a different vehicle since there have been no reports of this one or they are holed up and it is hidden, like in a shed or garage.
