Ariel Young seriously injured in KC MO car accident

You know, he must have refused a breathalyzer? Everyone I know of spends the night at least in jail after either refusing a breathalyzer or taking one and failing if the signs of alcohol were there which they were in this case. It makes no difference that the hospital BAC test has to be waited for as they already had cause for all of it.

From this article:

A search warrant application states that Ariel's mother told police "as she crawled from her Chevy Traverse, she observed Reid standing looking at the vehicles and talking on his cellphone," the Star reports.
She then "pled" with Reid to call 911 since she lost her phone in the crash, according to the court documents.

Judgmental maybe but what? Why was he not checking to see who was inside and rushing to see if help was needed?? Would that not be the normal human response?? I have been in accidents and it is the first thing that comes out of my mouth to total strangers even if apparently all right. Are you all right? Are you all right? Are you sure? And the same generally in return.

Much remains to be seen I realize, and I am not throwing him under the bus yet but I just hope it is handled as all cases would be. People are really fed up in this nation with special breaks for certain types. Not saying it is the case here yet but I think we all know of many such things. It will be interesting to see who he immediately contacted after the crash.

Seven is the max? I guess I missed that. Is that the case even with vehicular death?

It is somewhat ignored in many areas, some judges I think see drinking as just a good old boy or redneck thing that everyone does. Football watching at bars, drinking at bars watching Nascar, etc., road tripping, golfing, etc. and then of course driving. Even so the laws are generally stiffer but the judge then goes light.
He went "light" because he didn't leave the scene of the accident and the child is taken care of for life. If he would have taken off and not been able to take care of her the max would have been a "whopping" 7 years. I'm shocked he didn't just get probation and from the sounds of it, so was he. I totally understand the family's anger at this, but the judge didn't have a lot of leeway in this particular case due to state law. Vehicular homicide is a different charge, but still not enough. The guy that killed one of my daughter's best friend only got 5 years and couldn't even stand up due to impairment.

I hate that he was "shocked" because that just means he maintains the arrogance that paying someone off and being "someone" would have him just getting probation. That indicates to me that he likely learned nothing from this nor does he recognize the damage he's done and that money isn't the most important thing in life to most people.

Pretty sure my governor can be bought

Seems gun and alcohol crimes aren't very good reasons to keep people in jail for him. This isn't his first questionable release.
God why am I not surprised?? Are you? They dont even try to not be obvious about it these days. This is so blatant, corrupt and honestly expected. Not dissingi you nor your state. It is what goes on. Like that SD Attorney General. No one of note gets the same justice as others. And most just accept it and stay silent like oh well... Some wouldn't feel that way if it were their family or their child.

I have been worried about you. Hope all is okay and you've just been busy.

What's even more anger inducing is that the governors office did not give her family a heads up. They found out AFTER he was released at the same time we did. 🤬

That is anger inducing, that should have people up in arms. AFTER he was RELEASED they are notified? Or were they even notified by the powers that be, but found out from others or by news or some such instead??
