Authorities seeking help finding Windsor couple missing since July 1

Avillage of Windsor couple has been missing since July 1 and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public help in finding them.

On Wednesday, a family member reported that Bart and Krista Halderson were last seen on July 1 at their home and that they had planned a trip to Langlade County for the weekend and the family has been unable to confirm if they arrived safely, Lt. Brenda Reinen said in a report.

Their personal vehicles are accounted for, so there is no known vehicle to associate with the couple, the Sheriff's Office said.

‘We’ll find them:’ Son of missing Windsor couple says parents were going to lake cabin, but no sign of them

The son of a missing Windsor couple said his parents planned to go with friends to the family's cabin by Sawyer Lake more than three hours away, but says there's no sign of them there and there's been no contact with them for days.

"We'll find them," Chandler Halderson said of his parents, Bart Halderson, 50, and Krista Halderson, 53. "It's better to not listen to the negative theories," he says.

The younger Halderson said his parents planned to travel to their property in the community of Hollister in Langlade County Friday to do some minor repairs on their cabin and carry out general maintenance. He says friends were going with them and driving the group, but says he does not know who their traveling companions were.

Halderson said he received a text from his mother after his parents had apparently left on the trip.

"She got back to me on Sunday, said they made it safely," Halderson said.

Halderson said he contacted authorities after his parents did not return as planned Tuesday, and after a relative went to Hollister and did not find them. Halderson said authorities in Langlade County also checked the property, but found the cabin locked. "The sheriff said it looked like there wasn't anyone home," Halderson said.

Chandler Halderson holds out hope the inability to locate or contact his parents is benign.

"They're maybe at a casino, their phones off, no reception. Maybe they're on a boat, having some fun with their friends," Halderson said.

I'd say reasonable doubt is pretty much surpassed. Imo. And that's just from reading about testimony and facts that have come out and not excessively. It seems they likely have motive, means, opportunity and plenty of it to lead to only one reasonable conclusion. Jmo.
I agree however we aren't on the jury. There have been other circumstantial cases like McStay that I think the jury got it wrong. Let's hope this jury gets it right as 'we' see it.

I am not familiar enough with McStay, I am some but didn't follow it throughout and my memory isn't perfect on it but it just seems to me there's more here. A jury though can do anything but I find that most get it right, the ones that don't stand out because thankfully, it isn't all that common. Imo. They all come so easily to mind like Casey, OJ. And jury makeup varies but this is Wisconsin. I think he's going away.

I think they're just saying why not go to trial, all we (him too) can do is lose. I'm sure for a defendant the thought of taking up court's time and money, etc. means nothing and it's their right.

The State has rested. The defense has also rested, calling no witnesses. Judge John Hyland has read the jury instructions and now we are on verdict watch.

Not surprised--pretty much how it was looking throughout. Not much defense and then they put up no witnesses. Just argue what they can I guess and hope one juror or something doesn't believe him to be guilty. Even then though they would retry at more time and expense.

The Wisconsin jury did its job. I think WI juries pretty much take their job seriously. I think most do in most states. It helps me not to worry as much in all cases that it may go wrong. It always could but they usually get it right. When they don't it can often be put down to the case put on or decisions on what is or isn't allowed in imo.

Online court records show Chandler Halderson, 23, has a sentencing hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 17.
That's about right in there for time for that in Wisconsin. They will do a presentence investigation between now and then I think. Not too far out.

OK for many like @Kimster who like the cell tracking testimony today is the day to watch. The mapping of the cellular data from Chandler, Krista & Bart's were explained in the best way possible. These maps were animated to explain each one's movement by using the azimuth provided by the cellular company. As a bonus, the testimony provided x,y coordinates for each Snapchat that Chandler sent to his then girlfriend.

To add even more evidence, Chandler's google search history was introduced which is how the the second first degree murder charge was applied.

Another powerful day!
If I would’ve had the time, I would’ve liked to hear that testimony.

Chandler Halderson will learn his fate on March 17, however state law requires that he receive life sentences for the two convictions of 1st degree intentional homicide for the deaths of Bart and Krista Halderson.
I'm sure he will get life but I'm not sure on the requirement, could be on these charges but judges in WI have a lot of discretion here with sentencing and decisions in most cases. I don't think it will be an issue in this one though. Shouldn't be anyhow.

He darned well SHOULD have to attend sentencing. Victims' families wait for this day and it is often their only chance to speak and where they have the right to. He damn*d well should have to face his girlfriend and his siblings and all. He can do the deed, he can face the music and do the time!! Not to mention letting him skip it teaches this little sh*t nothing. What he did was not little sh*t but not a bit of thinking twice about it nor anything else. Evil.

Don't tell me he is ashamed now? I doubt it, he just doesn't know how to function without a life of lies--he is EXPOSED.

Here is Scott on this one and "not attending sentencing". I didn't even know about this one in my own home state as I was on a necessary hiatus last summer to fall, etc. to deal with life. I'm certainly not going to get anything done tonight after a day and I do when I have time bring things here so here ya go.

A necessary ad and lead in to the overall video and then the first eight minutes are this guy wanting to not attend sentencing and his opinion of it based on what he knows and what he would decide as judge ending with telling the defendant to not be a wimp after being gutsy enough to kill and dismember BOTH of his parents...

No sh*t. Judge is probably just weighing everything and waiting for rebuttal or arguments or whatever the heck they call it BUT in no way should this defendant not have to attend sentencing as I said above.

Gutsy enough to do all of this, not just one parent but then the other, etc. but nah, I don't want to attend sentencing and shouldn't have to? BULLSH*T. You can't do the crime and then say nah, don't feel like it today. MY opinion. Enough dancing to this sh*t. This is SOMEONE who was convicted. NOT someone who has not been found guilty. He was found guilty. Or poor you. NO your poor parents, gf. and siblings. Etc. You're big enough man to murder well then...

I don't think the judge will agree but if he does, then this world has gone way too far south on the rights of the convicted. Defendants are one thing. This "boy who can murder" was convicted.

I think I'm due for another hiatus. I know the signs.

What a cowardly whiney b***h! But you can kill, Dismember and hide the parts of your parents bodies.

LWOP

GOOD. It should be two life sentences and the other sentences running consecutively, not concurrently.

Why do they DO THAT? I get all say well it is LWOP anyhow, he won't get out but stranger things have happened. I get maybe in a "deal" where they work something like that but why do it in sentencing after guilt at all?? It isn't like it will cost them any more as he is dead after "life" anyhow so why not stack them?

Still that's the highest sentence he can get in WI and he got it.

Also glad to hear the dismembering WIMP had to attend sentencing. I didn't think a judge would decide otherwise and I'm glad to see he didn't.
