Here's some news near my neck of the woods that has had everyone talking for a few days! The LCSO sent out a presser about it today:

"Possibly from a neighboring town. Are there any close?" Lots of small communities, a horse's ride away from each other.

"Someone knew where that cemetery is. It's isolated." You can easily see it from the main thoroughfare highway 99.

It could be so many things. My theory is:

Someone knew where that cemetery is. It's isolated.

Someone had the means to get lumber and hardware to build that coffin. And some knowledge.

You're gonna need an SUV or pickup truck and at least 4 people to transport that coffin.

I would guess 2 vehicles were involved to get those people to the cemetery. Anyone with enough knowledge to build a coffin would know you can't just shove it out of a vehicle and hope it doesn't bust on impact.

My opinion.
Unless................. they used a tractor!

Okay, another clue. My friend who is a member of the IOOF in Coburg said the IOOF has a rule that if you don't have money, they will bury you in their cemetery for free, even if you aren't a member. However, he doesn't know who takes care of that cemetery since there isn't an IOOF near there.

Now we are wondering if the people who left the casket knew that the IOOF will bury people for free?

that is what I was wondering as soon as I saw what the cemetery was.

That fits with my thinking someone didn't have the money but cared enough to see to it he was buried. But why not come forward and how still did they get him there... Tractor crossed my mind too, so did a low trailer or a delivery truck with a ramp where one could slide a coffin down, etc.

Certainly if they knew that, they could have gone through proper channels to get it done? And not just dump him off and hope they do it? Without an investigation into who he is and how he got there? "Oh, random body in a casket? Welp, let's get him in the ground!"

Unless................. they used a tractor!
It hasn't been super dry there right? If there was a tractor (several tons on its own, depending on size of tractor), carrying an additional 500-600 pounds (person plus casket), I think there would be some tracks left.

I thought the same thing, but then, how bright was it to leave him there in the first place?

IMO, He was made a coffin because there wasn't money for the person to bury him or a proper coffin. The first question I have is being it's a rural area, He was a big man of 350 lbs. So no one recognizes that description?. And one person could not have moved the coffin by themselves. Even a thin person. The weight of the person plus the weight of the coffin and the cumbersomeness of it. Why not call the proper authorities to give him a proper burial. The state would bury him. This way he was going to be buried with his identity. At least the state would have given the poor man a number.

It's a tough one to call. It would seem like foul play in one respect as why not otherwise like you said ask for help or the state to bury someone? But then bringing him to a cemetery seems to show a level of care...

I agree that in no way did one person move this man imo. Or even place him in the casket singlehandedly.

No way. Right. Normal burials there are 4 pallbearers. Not using a normal coffin, But it's still wood and heavy and the size of the man. And I mean no disrespect. Great point of just placing him in the coffin. I'm not trying to be funny saying "Dead weight". But a smaller person is hard to move due to that. This man, No way. I hope they find out who he is and cause of death. Maybe they are waiting for autopsy results to say more. I also noticed in the article I posted the man commenting lived "Nearby". And he obviously didn't hear anything. It also says a few years ago someone hung themselves from the same tree they dumped this coffin by, But I couldn't find any information.

Someone hung themselves in the very same tree near a remote rural cemetery and now a casket was under such a tree....??? I'm not saying the two are related but what are the odds of two such strange things occurring at this small cemetery and why there?
