A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Brian Laundrie’s family attorney cancels press conference after speaking to FBI

The attorney for Brian Laundrie canceled a press conference that was scheduled for Tuesday after speaking with the FBI, Fox News has learned.

Laundrie, 23, is the boyfriend of Gabby Petito, the missing Florida woman whose body may have been discovered Sunday in Wyoming.

A reporter from the New York Post, citing the attorney, tweeted that the press conference was not canceled at the behest of the FBI but rather because he said it is not in his clients’ ‘best interest.’

He has been named a person of interest in the case. His family told police that they have not seen him since last Tuesday.

The autopsy of the remains found in the investigation is set to be completed on Tuesday, which could confirm that the body belonged to Petito.

*(Is the client reference meaning the parents or the son?)

this thought crossed my mind also.... but than again.... it also could be that he went into hiding..... why would the parents pick his car up from a place he allegedly went missing and not calling it in right away...? that just doesn't make sense.... my guess would be that Brian and the parents claim that he went there but I am certain that he would not take off in a car known to be connected to him or the parents,, I wonder if there is any movement on any social media, also I wonder if the bank accounts are being monitored, and not only his but the parents one's also... the question would be were there bigger withdrawals prior him going "missing"..

I think the car is a BS story meant to draw attention in a different direction.

How did the officers that pulled them over not know about the 911 call from an eyewitness?
From this article, I believe they did know.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic problem after a witness said the couple, involved in an altercation at the Arches National Park, drove off in a white van, according to a police report.

When officers located a van and pulled it over for a traffic stop, the couple admitted to arguing and that Petito had slapped Laundrie, according to the report. The couple also stated to police that Laundrie did not hit Petito.

the "couple" stated that or HE stated that?

*(A bit OT .. I cringe when North Port is mentioned in MSM, perhaps that's because Chance Walsh was brutally murdered there in 2015. I hope Gabby's family & friends get the justice they deserve just like Chance did.)

I am hearing rumblings that his mom is LE connected. Now I am really wondering any contact he had with his parents during this time...as in did he have strings pulled somehow?

How did that info not come over the initial call to the responding officers to start with? Or was it and they chose to totally gloss over it?
I haven't heard that one.

The Laundries own Juicer Services, a company started in 2017 that sells and services commercial juicing equipment. The Florida company registry lists Roberta Laundrie as the "registered agent" of the company, and a New York registry from 2018 lists Christopher Laundrie as CEO of the company.

The couple runs the company out of their home, which is a 10,000-square-foot property. The dates would indicate that the Laundries likely moved to Florida in 2017 as part of their business plan for their company.

I read a brief mention of her LE ties early on when the news broke that Gabby was missing. Seems like it said the mom worked for an LE office in the past.

BTW, if Brian is a classic abuser, his mom might be suffering from the same issue at some level. Oftentimes, but not always, the sons mimic the fathers.
