A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Gabby Petito investigation: 911 call reveals Brian Laundrie seen hitting, 'slapping' her before disappearance

Police report on Petito, Laundrie apparently contradicted by 911 call

FIRST ON FOX: The 911 caller who reported a "domestic dispute" between Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito in Moab, Utah, on Aug. 12 was heard telling a dispatcher that "the gentleman was slapping the girl" and hitting her, Fox News has confirmed Monday after exclusively obtaining the audio of the call.

"He was slapping her?" the dispatcher was heard asking.

"Yes, and then we stopped. They ran up and down the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her, hopped in the car and they drove off," the caller added.

In the warrant, police were given authority to search “any and all external storage device(s), commercial software and hardware, computer disks, disk drives, tape drives, disk application programs, data disks, system disk operating systems, electronic mail, system storage devices, tape systems and hard drive and other computer-related operation equipment, in addition to computer photographs, graphic interchange formats and/or photographs, or other visual depictions.”

Additionally, the warrant gives police access to any digital documents, notes, passwords, encryptions or data security devices which might keep them from accessing the hardware, software, or data on the devices, as well as all data and files associated with the external device.

This includes data files, password-protected files, images, texts, files that show emails, text messages, and internet browsing history as well as computer files showing who owned, possessed or used the computers, and storage devices to include but not limited to email associated files.

The warrant said that there was probable cause for issuance as a result of the item potentially containing evidence that a felony had been committed. In the affidavit submitted by North Port detectives, a timeline of Petito and Laundrie’s trip and the video journey they had taken together across social media platforms were detailed.

hopefully they are looking into communication between him and his parents prior to him leaving out west...as in they aided/advised him from the beginning.

Her dad is on Sr Phil right now.
He said Brian was always respectful.
They always seemed happy.
He’s never seen them fight.
They had taken a cross country trip together before, just not in a van

It appears this was prerecorded so I’m assuming it was from last week prior to finding Gabby.

I just find it hard to believe they would go pick up the car on Thursday and not alert LE immediately.

I think he may have left the country
Haven't seen you in awhile, hope you are doing well! Yeah, they remind me of the Anthony's. Gabby fricking lived with them at their house!!

I don't know if he has left the country, we don't even know if he has a passport. Though they live on the West Coast of FL and could probably get someone to take him on a boat to anywhere, if he had the means to do so. It's a small community, so IMO not very likely, but who knows. I am more inclined to think he is hiding out somewhere in a park or other area. Or, he has already committed suicide.

IMO

i saw a glimpse of a news cast where a neighbor is stating that the Mustang has not moved all week, that it was there Tuesday and Wednesday, putting a hole in the story that they picked it up, but the family is saying that a note from police was found on it at the park

i can't find the neighbor speaking but i did find this one. Notice that it is the family that is claiming a note was found on it

If the family found a "note" from the police, it seems the officer that left said "note" could verify this. Eh?

Am I the only one who doesn't think Brian Laundrie is alive? We've seen so many of these cases where the perp goes missing and ends up harming himself.

this thought crossed my mind also.... but than again.... it also could be that he went into hiding..... why would the parents pick his car up from a place he allegedly went missing and not calling it in right away...? that just doesn't make sense.... my guess would be that Brian and the parents claim that he went there but I am certain that he would not take off in a car known to be connected to him or the parents,, I wonder if there is any movement on any social media, also I wonder if the bank accounts are being monitored, and not only his but the parents one's also... the question would be were there bigger withdrawals prior him going "missing"..
