A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Yeah sending flowers to Gabby at the Laundrie house and using bull horns to shout all day I think is ridiculous. I have never seen such work yet to make someone turn themselves in and it won't here either.

I don't understand it. If I had the money to send flowers on behalf of Gabby and decided to do so, would I send them to Gabby's family or the Laundries? Her family of course. People are strange... Imo.

North Port police responded to the Laundrie home 46 times since Sept. 10 — the day before Petito, a Long Island native, was reported missing by her mother, Nichole Schmidt.

Five calls made on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 suggest turbulence at the house even before Petito’s disappearance made national headlines and made the Laundries a target.

North Port cops first responded to the home shortly before 4 p.m. Sept. 10 on a “public service” call, according to the records.

Police returned around 6:30 p.m., with both calls marked as “problem settled.”

I wonder where all these calls have originated from. I see one from Gabby's father.

This is just a short 3.5 minute news video which clearly details Brian's differing stories about ever having a cell phone, etc. I thought I knew all of this but one thing I did not know was that after telling LE on their trip he had no phone he later pulled on out of his pocket. Hmm. Food for thought imo.

I won't get around to finding it tonight and don't want to post long YT videos but there is more footage out of the domestic pull-over by cops with Gabby and Brian. A LOT more footage from a different cop's body cam I think. It is causing a lot of discussion and controversy. Anyhow, if anyone gets a chance... This was a long incident as far as how long the cops were there, etc.

They were so wrong, poor Gabby. I wonder how often such DV situations are treated this way, makes me sick.
This was hard to watch I thought. It can be looked at many different ways but I don't like it. It doesn't sit right with me. At first I defended the cops when I felt they were just trying to cut them both a break and we didn't know all of the details but this additional footage and the way things turned really bothers me. I don't know...

I don’t think they weren’t compassionate, I think they just were not educated in domestic violence. It just shows that the departments need to be taught how it works. It was in the news as what to look for 40 years ago or more, and now it’s just been forgotten. There is a cycle and it hasn’t changed.

Could be. I don't know. This additional footage has people really tearing into it and I am maybe overthinking it. I just don't like how the situation seemed to turn around and I'm sorry but the "key" cop seems a bit too "over"...

Don't get me wrong, Gabby more than likely would have went back to him and in fact seemed to express wanting to stay with him BUT I also think this was both fear of his reaction otherwise AND boy at my age I wouldn't want to stay in a van in an unknown area all night alone and I would REALLY worry at her age. I don't necessarily think a change on this night would have prevented what would eventually happen with someone like Brian...

I just think this was a really strange law enforcement incident. It also bothers me that they do not even seem to be aware this is HER van and he was trying to keep her out of it and had the keys. Isn't running registration COP 101? Then Brian gets so full of it he starts acting like it is his van and he will allow her to stay in it more or less... Sickening. Very hard to see.

The cop's remark of when she grows up to be a full grown man was downright weird. It probably was just a lame attempt at humor that sometimes falls flat, we all do it but it struck me as something different.

Oh well. Nothing will bring her back sadly. This, however, is resulting in conversations and that can only be, I think, a good thing re DV.

NORTH PORT, Fla. (NewsNation Now) — Brian Laundrie’s sister, Cassie Laundrie, may have seen her brother in the days following his return to Florida without Gabby Petito, despite her previous comments.
Cassie Laundrie said last month she had not spoken to her brother since he returned to Florida without Petito on Sept. 1.

“I haven’t been able to talk to him,” Laundrie told ABC News last month. “I wish I could talk to him.”
However, NewsNationNow.com reporter Brian Entin exclusively confirmed that Cassie Laundrie may have been at the Fort De Soto campground at the same time the rest of the family in early September.
“To my knowledge, Cassie went for a day,” Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino confirmed to Entin.
When Bertolino was asked whether Cassie Laundrie was at the campground at the same time as her brother, he responded, “idk” meaning “I don’t know.”

Hmm. If she was there, clearly she tells things in a less than truthful way.

Not sure how "may have been" at the campground means Entin confirmed it, he only confirmed she may have been. Not nitpicking, I just wish it was stated more clearly, does he know she was or was not, it sounds like it isn't confirmed at all.

"Following some of these questions pouring in, Bertolino sent further communications to Entin Friday. They read as follows:

“Cassie saw her brother Brian on September 01 when he stopped by her home and again on September 6 at Fort De Soto Park. Law enforcement agencies are well aware of these dates. Any prior communication by Cassie that does not reflect these dates is simply a difference of relating an answer to a question misinterpreted by Cassie or poorly posed by the inquirer.” "

Maybe she just misunderstood the question......

Lol, seems to be a lot of that going on in this case... Or is it with this family...

I thought maybe she meant she did not have a one on one conversation with him nor a heart to heart (like he confessed to her) but did see him and talk to him while with her folks, over to their house, at the campground, etc. so in her mind that was not a lie... That crossed my mind earlier anyhow... It's still a lie though imo.

Doesn't the sister live in Ohio or some place up there???

She clearly said in the media interview she gave when she said Gabby is like a sister to her that she hadn't talked to Brian. Don't have the link handy.

This is the Anthonys to the extreme!!
