A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

This guy has all of the legal documents on this page. I did not know they took a hard drive or computer or something from the van belonging probably to Gabby the way it looks. There are some other things as well including witness statement on the disorderly conduct, etc.

ETA: There is also the letter from the Petitos to the Laundries begging them for help (heartbreaking) and other things. All documents in one place, this guy did a nice job.

Praying this is the day they find him.
Yes, it is time already. All seem to sure be focusing on Florida and I only hope they know something we don't. I just don't feel he is that close to home, but I certainly could be wrong. Then again it is a good way to throw Brian off, showing searches here while ready to descend on where he really is...

Gabby's family needs him found and under lock and key as do we. I wonder what will come first, finding him or a murder indictment handed down. I think he would be wise to turn himself in before that happens as at that point he will be a seriously wanted fugitive (not that he isn't already).

Did anyone know Gabby had lived in North Carolina prior to moving to Florida?

A couple of years ago, Petito lived in Carolina Beach. She worked in Wilmington and even though she didn’t end up going, she applied to Cape Fear Community College.

Witschen said Gabby worked at the restaurant from September 2017 to January 2019 in the kitchen and as a hostess before moving to Florida.

I didn't. I did know or think both she and Brian and families are from NY prior to Florida. Also know she has worked I think pretty steadily unlike Brian.

There is what I think is some bogus news being reported right now. There may be a grain of truth in it but I am not buying the "news" report from the alleged "reporter". Maybe I will end up wrong but it was a pretty questionable news report from Skyline News.

This is a nice story, sounds like she was well liked. It is clear the life of a bright spirit was taken. Man I wish they'd get him in custody. I feel so bad for her family, I can hardly stand he is at large, so they must be feeling it tenfold.

Missing Houston man's body found in Wyoming after tips came in during Gabby Petito search

Investigators say news coverage of Petito that mentioned the search for 46-year-old Robert "Bob" Lowery prompted new tips about the missing hiker.

JACKSON, Wyo. — Searchers in western Wyoming say news coverage of the Gabby Petito case helped lead searchers to the body of a Houston hiker reported missing in an unrelated case.
Teton County Search & Rescue officials say the body found Tuesday in the Teton Pass area matches the description of 46-year-old Robert "Bob" Lowery, who went missing Aug. 20.

The remains were recovered in the same national forest where the body of 22-year-old Gabby Petito was found Sept. 11. She'd gone missing on a road trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, who remains the target of a massive manhunt in Florida.

Robert "Bob" Lowery

Investigators say news coverage of Petito that mentioned the search for Robert Lowery prompted new tips about his case over the weekend.
They learned he was last seen on Aug. 20, rather than Aug. 19 as originally reported by the local sheriff, according to CBS News. TCSAR said Tuesday at least two people contacted authorities with information placing Lowery on Black Canyon Trail, a popular area for hikers and mountain bikers. The tipsters also mentioned that Lowery was carrying a duffel bag.
CBS News says searchers split into teams and searched along the rugged trail for several hours Tuesday. A search dog found the body that matched Lowery's description and a duffel bag in a camping area, TCSAR said.

Father of two remembered fondly

The family released a statement Wednesday and said Lowery was the father of a 15-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
Lowery's sister told the Jackson Hole News & Guide he was “a sweet, sweet kid.
"Bob has been a wonderful father, son, brother and friend. Our family wants to thank the news media and others involved in the search for our privacy at this difficult time," the statement said.
Family members plan to go to Jackson Hole this week to personally thank the searchers.

Brian Laundrie may have been spotted in selfie days before Gabby Petito was reported missing: report

A Florida couple claims they camped next to Brian Laundrie and his family just days before his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, was reported missing — and may have unwittingly captured him in a selfie.

“Apparently, they were at the campground when we were there, and they were right next to us,” Marci Newsom, of Fort Myers, told WBBH Wednesday.

Newsom said she and her husband, Kenny, camped next to now-missing Brian Laundrie, 23, and his parents after checking into Fort De Soto Park on Labor Day.

Pinellas County documents cited by the station show Laundrie’s mother, Roberta, checked out two days later — and three days before Petito, 22, was reported missing by her family on Sept 11.

Petito’s remains were found in a remote section of a Wyoming national forest on Sept. 19 — two days after Laundrie’s parents also reported him missing.

But a photo taken at Fort De Soto Park during the couple’s stay over the Labor Day holiday also may have shown Laundrie, who has not been charged in Petito’s death but has been named a person of interest.

“In the background, there’s a guy walking across the field,” Marci Newsom said.

It’s unclear if the photo showed Laundrie, but Newsom said the three campers she saw “kept to themselves” during their stay.

“They were there, and then they weren’t,” Marci Newsom told the station.

Brian Laundrie’s attorney, Steven Bertolino, confirmed Tuesday that Brian went on a camping trip with his parents after Petito’s disappearance, but insisted that all three later returned home.

However, Pinellas County records obtained by WBBH show that Roberta Laundrie checked out by herself on Sept. 8 as Petito’s parents were trying to reach the family.

“It’s very strange,” Kenny Newsom told the station. “If somebody I knew was missing, I wouldn’t be going camping.”

Attempts to reach the Newsoms were unsuccessful early Wednesday.

I didn't really see a cause in the article. Was this an accident does anyone know? It does sound like he was found on a steep wooded slope.

if that was the case, why aren’t they out looking for him? Or talking to the media so he could be found?
As was said above, that statement is nothing but "word craft". It pretty much says they did not help him after the warrant was issued and honestly, they did not need to most likely as they already had most likely. As for not knowing where he is well, that's pretty gray too, they may have known where he was and think he is still there but they can't be sure.

I am pretty sure my daughter is at her house right now but I can't tell you that for a fact, I mean she could have gotten up early and headed for Walmart.

And yes, they are not seeking him nor asking for help to find him and haven't since day one. I honestly think they hoped as did he they would deduce he was dead somewhere in the Carlton reserve and cease looking for him. Jmo though.

And whether they know or not, they have shown not one ounce of sympathy for Gabby's family. If my son left his gf without her vehicle in another state, I would be contacting her family, making him do so and seeing to it they had support to ensure she was found and brought home safe and THIS IS IF HE JUST left her there alive... Which we know is not the case (allegedly/most likely)...

Jmo though.

I believe the lawyer knows he did not leave her there alive because in his statement about the arrest warrant he says "It is my understanding that the arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie is related to activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise." I could be wrong but I don't think there has been an actual and fixed time of death released to the public so just how would he know the debit card used on the 30th was after her death if someone who knew didn't tell him.
