A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

I don't agree and there is no evidence of it, but I wouldn't put anything past them. Maybe they were afraid he'd implicate them somehow. View attachment 13068
I can see them covering their butts and that of their son but I can't see any point or reason to think they would kill their son. Nothing that he could implicate them with imo would be that serious.

I think such thoughts are nuts. Murder of their son would be a far bigger deal than anything he could implicate them in. Unless you mean they were involved in Gabby's death and I don't believe that.

I do think they had better be confirming any teeth were attached to a jaw bone (IF they were) and get some DNA sent in... Not sure why they can't at least confirm the first part without hurting anything, just to put some thoughts to rest, UNLESS it is not the case.

Good.
So many people are still digging into the "mystery" of this. JMO but it's quite annoying. There are so many other cases that could use this type of energy. So many other families. So many other issues (domestic violence). But no, let's write 17 more articles about what this murderer may have written in his notebook before running away to die.

I agree. Can't speak for him but I think her father is saying, without dissing people who "care" on SM that he is not concerned about the notebook, it won't bring her back. I think he wants people with a brain cell to "get it". In other words, if their family is not protesting in front of the Laundrie home, and they ARE the victim's family, then maybe the protesters and others should "get" it as well... Jmo.

There are definitely questions that remain and need answers but dissecting or trying to see through the "bag" or wondering about the notebook, etc. is getting beyond ridiculous.

I do think LE could put some things to rest if they choose to and maybe they should if they can. Personally, I don't have a whole lot of faith the "notebook" will hold anything. I do wonder if he went out there with the intent of killing himself or not but that will come with time as will the contents of what they found and the list of all that was found. I would hope anyhow.

EVERY case should get this attention. Not all of the attention though has been helpful so there's that.

This site has several short videos they keep putting out fairly steadily. This one I thought was maybe a bit more interesting/significant than the others but not really as to solving anything I guess...

It seems to me the Tik Tok lady may have been lying now that I have watched this or they had the wrong people they thought they saw, hard to say...

What is interesting is that Gabby and Brian skipped out on the bill at Merry Piglets... It may have been unintentional but I almost don't think so because a server followed them, they paid on the street then but then Gabby apparently went back and wanted a refund/her money back??? They refused the way it sounds.

in this case nothing actually makes sense...... and I sure don't buy that BL is dead..... it can be but it also can not be..... as long as I do not see DNA clearly confirming that it is him...
there were and are just too many "coincidences" and there is no such thing as coincidence....

I really wish that Gabby's family would get answer... but that will be difficult.......

I have to say boy do I get it. I am so NOT a believer of too many coincidences in a case or too many things for a possible defendant or someone to have to explain away.

And yet I tell myself some of the theories out there are really out there and nutty and so far fetched and to use logic.

I come back to that I also need DNA. I need to know they did not just do a dental off some unattached teeth and that they have bones or something that a person would need to survive that WILL come back with DNA to match Brian. I think everyone needs this and if there isn't such, then that is pretty darned odd, they can get DNA these days from all sorts of remains, partial or otherwise.

I do not let myself believe that anything could be so corrupt or crooked or inept that his parents like bought bones or remains and planted them as I truly believe that is pretty far fetched... However, I can believe LE wanted to close this case and may have assumed they would be able to provide what they are not finding and they don't have...

Deaths have been faked so I allow for that.

One thought I have that I am honestly wondering is IF Brian mailed a letter to his parents that they would get after he died... Maybe with his whereabouts and plan... And this would explain why they went right to things AND we just may not know that they told the attorney who may have shared this info with LE and this is why they wanted to go out there that day and they all "easily" found all this. Would LE share that until an investigation was over? I don't know why but this has crossed my mind more than once and I feel more feasible than some thoughts... Even back when protesters were there before Brian was allegedly "found" dead I remember the dad getting the mail out of the box and news getting pictures and thinking the protestors leave the mail alone...? It is a federal offense to mess with it and I just thought it a possibility of a way to keep in touch if they were worried about the house being bugged/tapped... Maybe Brian sent his folks a goodbye, apologetic, where to find me letter....

This case has had so many oddities and screw ups that it is hard NOT to think a lot more is up... Or faked.... Or whatever... I think people who don't normally think that way are even wondering...

And this is why they need to share WHAT they have for remains and get DNA confirmation... Imo.

IIRC, They found a fully intact mandible that had all it's teeth. That's how the dental identification was done. I'm sure he's dead.
I think I had heard this at least speculated on some channels, or by other forensic dental experts, etc. but honestly I have never once heard law enforcement say that or confirm it and many others have not heard that either because it is still questioned by many and no one seems to be able to confirm it came from LE.

I'm positive LE confirmed it.

Okay but I'm not. That may work for you but I need to hear it from LE. If you happen to come across where LE said it, please let me know as I'd like to be sure of that...

I still think they need to hope they have enough remains to satisfy everyone AND DNA because there are some real kooks out there with some very off the wall theories... Deaths have been faked before and attempted to be faked so I don't find that on its own too far fetched but some of what they think was done and by who is pretty out there.

I really thought I posted a link. Ill go back through and see.

You don't have to do that but if anyone comes across it or knows where it is, I'd appreciate pointing me where to look. I did see articles I think that said that but I never saw specifically LE quoted, or at least I saw videos. I may well have missed it with all of the circus the case became... I do know MANY people don't think there is an answer as to whether it was a mandible with teeth, etc. for certain... And I do mean attached of course...

Portion of a skull. Match made via dental records. Confirmed via FBI.

The remains found Wednesday were skeletal, according to Brian Entin. Dr. Russell Vega, the chief medical examiner for Florida’s Twelfth District. Law enforcement told NBC that the remains included a portion of a human skull, badly decomposed.

FBI Denver tweeted that "a comparison of dental records confirmed" the remains belong to Brian.
