A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

Still no indication they found the gun and I agree that is not going to sit at all well with people if they don't have it... It is Bertolino again who spoke so we can hope LE found the gun and just aren't sharing the fact but I wouldn't count on it. All they need is more questionable things in this case...

I can't say as I blame them. Even if some things are hard to understand here, and their behavior or decisions, who knows and why wouldn't they? If not under any conditions and I don't think they are or why would they be, I think I'd leave the country for awhile. I also would buy a place with a long driveway and plenty of privacy but honestly, I think I'd wait on that and not do anything permanent so the kooks that think they are building bunkers under raised gardens, etc. or hiding their son don't follow. Just take the $$ from the house if any and take some time off somewhere else, be able to grieve and get a breather. He may well be the perp but they lost a son too and have little sympathy from most. No winners in this one.

And I do allow for they may know more and may not be saints. This case though and what occurred was beyond beyond. I still have a lot of questions but I don't know how they went through what they have without losing it.

Jmho though.

Brian Laundrie's parents seen hiking in Myakkahatchee Creek park following son's death

Deceased fugitive Brian Laundrie's parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie, on Tuesday, were seen walking in the park where their son's remains were recovered in October.

Chris and Roberta Laundrie spent about three hours hiking in the North Port, Florida, park where, just a month earlier, they helped law enforcement discover their son's remains and belongings after a significant amount of water had drained in the swampy area.

"They go [there] to hike and mourn their son," Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino said.

Neighbor Charlene Guthrie told Fox News that the Laundries are away from home for hours most days since media left their neighborhood after the autopsy results were revealed. A for-sale sign that was likely a hoax briefly appeared on their lawn but was taken down.

While I think the Laundrie's made many mistakes, I still have sympathy for them (I think). One of my best friends and neighbor died via suicide by gun 9 years ago. Totally different circumstances, but it's the same not knowing why they killed themself. I have a pit in my stomach writing this, remembering that horrible day.

Yep. Also, when we will learn more about Brian's journal reportedly left at the site he killed himself?
Exactly. And detail of everything they found of his and so forth and when they figured he went there, if this was a plan and anything else that can be gleaned from the car, the dates, his belongings, etc. I also believe they took tech even prior to finding him from the van and Laundrie home, etc. Did they find anything related to the last days with Gabby out west, or after, etc.

There's a lot here yet we haven't heard. Imo.
