A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

From the article above...

Laundrie is thought to be somewhere in the “vast Carlton Reserve,” police said on Twitter, referring to the nearly 25,000-acre park near Laundrie’s parents’ home in North Port. He is not charged with a crime, although police are calling him a “person of interest” in the case.

Josh Taylor, a spokesman for the North Port police, told reporters Saturday that about 50 police officers were searching through the wildlife preserve on foot and by car, with the help of dogs, through terrain that is wet and muddy. He said Laundrie’s life could be in danger, but he did not specify why or how.
Speculating... I wonder if they are just saying his life is in danger so that they have a reason to do a mass search for him being that hes not been charged with a crime 🤔 Or perhaps they believe he is suicidal 🤔

I don't have babies yet.. so I am only speculating.. the majority here seems to agree. So I hope his parents do as well 🙏 The moral obligation outweighs the desire to protect one's child from their own actions.. afterall what kind of lessons are we teaching them otherwise?
you
I'm all for accountability, my conscious would not allow me to do that either... especially when it's another's life we are talking about..
DS3's 16yo GF ran away from home last spring. LE came to our house several times. DS was in touch with her, but didn't know where she was. Her brother, also. She didn't have a phone. Her parents are beyond weird and I understand why she ran away. But I kept telling DS her parents are worried and you need to tell them whatever you know. And, he did. He kept telling her she needed to go home. Meanwhile, LE is telling us that he could be arrested for harboring a runaway which I knew was BS. Her parents never contacted me (they had my #), just sent LE to our house. TLike I said, they are really weird.

She was gone for 1 1/2 months and one day her grandmother came to our house. I spoke with her and she had written a nice note with her phone# about the GF and just wanted to find her. Told DS,next time you communicate with her you need to tell her to call her grandmother. She called her grandmother within minutes of him telling her that. Grandmother picked her up and GF went to go live with her.

All of my sons are following this case, maybe cuz it's in FL. They keep asking why his parents aren't saying anything, they need to tell what they know! I say member when I told you to tell LE everything you knew about GF? Makes me proud that they actually learned this lesson to be honest :)
