(CNN)Four Minneapolis police officers have been fired for their involvement in the death of a black man who was held down with a knee as he protested that he couldn't breathe, officials said Tuesday.

The FBI is investigating the incident, which drew widespread condemnation of the officers after a video showing part of the encounter circulated on social media.

Exactly. To me even if they could use it, it just shows officers may treat him differently because they already have an opinion of him and that isn't right to do either but of course the defense would like it seen for obvious reasons.
 
The day ended at 13 jurors. However, the judge said they were going to try to pick two more so they have 14 come March 29th so I don't get that unless his math was off and he was tired or he is worried about losing someone in the meantime. Personally I think only two alternates in this might be light... They lost two after they picked them the other day...
 
Well they are finally at 14, however, which was the original number needed, now they have decided they need 15 so it continues again this afternoon.
 
Has started. Opening statements by prosecution largely focusing on procedure by the Mpls PD, stating a number of things Chauvin did that were against procedure and training. They are going to have many police officers and people about procedure and what they are trained to do, etc. And that they also are required to provide care to someone in their custody. Then of course med experts, etc. as to cause of death.

Personally I think what he is saying pretty much hits home. He makes some great points including there were no split second decisions in this event, etc... I am not going to watch nor cover everything. I can't. So just reminding it is on.

yes. The only thing I heard while passing through was the prosecution stating that this was not about a split second decision. It was about 9 and one half minutes given to make that decision. I thought that was a very powerful opening.

Yes, he is still up and there have been many good points, too many to cover all. I think the length of time definitely is one key factor, as is procedure. Now he is into cause of death and pathology. I just have it on in the background so I can hear it.

To me he is making it very clear cut and it all matches up imo with what we pretty much know or have seen. It will be interesting to see what the defense says I think although there have already been clear hints of where they will go with it.
 
Only pop in and check occasionally and listen to bits. The chats are full of idiots and trolls go figure. They have been all day on the first witness, the original dispatcher with the 911 call. Defense is crossing her now.
 
I caught bits and pieces today and what I did watch... I don't almost even know what to say. The prosecution may not be able to choose their eyewitnesses but they are far from stellar... Both yesterday and today ended weirdly. Yesterday allegedly some grid was overpowered, or wind blew out or feed cut to it all. Today what seemed to be a sudden need for break or sidebar did not go silent as normal and the judge was chastising the last witness. Now, don't get me wrong, she was arguing and ignoring rules, attorneys, the judge. But generally these things go silent and on this the feed and microphone stayed on.

Oh and then a supposed PR rep of two of the young witnesses I believe was caught taking pictures and such in the courthouse against rules and that came on...

The prosecution also put a 9 year old on today!!! There were potential jurors who admitted their fear for selves and family who were adults!

I try to stay away from what is clearly some political agenda both ways in this but it seems to rear its head. Some seem to be seeking fame and attention too while pretending not to be...

I SHALL stop there. And I did not even see it ALL by a long shot.

They probably mean the female firefighter. I have wondered about her even before trial. She was very vocal to the cops and videoed herself the incident as well. She was very teary on the stand over Floyd but could instantly go to a laugh... She became almost antagonistic with the defense and I believe she was the one the day ended over with the judge admonishing her for arguing with the court/judge, etc... I have my opinions of the incident itself but I will just say that I do wonder about some of these bystanders and how they came to be there... I truly did not until hearing several of the bystanders testify now. And I have not even watched it all or every minute by a long shot.
 
To put it more simply which I can sometimes, most would class her as a know it all and right fighter. She knew more than the attorneys, the judge, etc. She is a firefighter/EMT but one would almost think she was well beyond that in status.

I think she should have been up again this morning but I have not watched any of it today.

In one body-camera video, Floyd appears to say he was “just hooping earlier.” Defense counsel Eric Nelson has previously argued that Floyd thereby admitted to using drugs, since “hooping” is slang for ingesting drugs rectally. The Hennepin County medical examiner found potentially lethal doses of fentanyl and meth in Floyd’s blood.

Floyd is not a martyr. It really ticked me off when he was compared to MLK. Not even close. I especially hate living here right now. I can already predict another riot. And the first one really solved things. Idiots.

I watched it here and there during jury selection and the first maybe two days to three of trial I saw most of the witnesses but did not stay glued to it or see all testimony. Over the past several days, I have watched none. I do know that watching it is an entirely different perspective imo because you see the actual testimony that MSM bits that are seeking I guess the more interesting headlines.

While I have shared some parts of jury selection and trial, I have not really given an opinion since it all started. I have my opinion, which depending on facts that come out and testimony, may change--but it basically falls where most I have discussed it with fall, Floyd was no saint, he did resist arrest and not just for a moment either, but Chauvin's hold, the length. of it and more were wrong as well. To me, he is guilty but I am undecided on what charge--it certainly does not fit imo first degree murder which is not on the table anyhow.
