Haleigh's photo is shown age-progressed to 15 years. She was last known to be sleeping in her home, in the area of Hermit's Cove in Satsuma, Florida, on the evening of February 9, 2009. Haleigh was discovered missing during the early morning hours of February 10, 2009. She may still be in the local area. Haleigh's ears are pierced.

Haleigh was last known to be sleeping in her family's trailer in the 200 block of Green Lane in the area of Hermit's Cove in Satsuma, Florida, late in the evening on February 9, 2009. She went to bed at 8:00 p.m. Her father's live-in girlfriend of five months, Misty Janette Croslin (sometimes identified in the media by her later married name, Misty Cummings), went to sleep in the same room at 10:00 p.m. Haleigh's three-year-old brother was also sleeping in that room.

Haleigh's father, Ronald Lemyles Cummings, finished working second shift and arrived home sometime after 3:00 a.m. on February 10. Misty told him she'd just discovered Haleigh was missing from her bed. The rear door to the trailer was several inches ajar and the screen door had been propped open with a cinder block. Ronald and Misty called 911 at 3:37 a.m. to report Haleigh's disappearance.

The police found no sign of forced entry to the trailer, but they are uncertain whether the back door was locked. Ronald and Misty have insisted that it was, and Ronald maintains the trailer was broken into.

Haleigh's younger brother told investigators that a man dressed in black had come to their home that night and taken his sister. Authorities aren't sure how much credence to give to his story, given his age. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of Haleigh. Her father stated she wouldn't have left home by herself at night, as she is afraid of the dark.

In October 2009, six months into the marriage, Ronald filed for divorce. He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason, mainly the stress caused by Haleigh's disappearance and the subsequent police investigation and media attention. The divorce became final within days; since Ronald and Misty had only been married a short time and they didn't share any property or have any children together, there was little to discuss.

Police repeatedly questioned Misty about Haleigh's disappearance and looked into the possibility that she wasn't in fact at home when the child disappeared. Misty describes herself as a devoted caregiver to Haleigh and her brother and said she had been home the entire night and hadn't left the children alone.

Investigators have been publicly skeptical of Misty's story, stating she failed four polygraphs and one voice stress test, and changed her story multiple times; they described her accounts as "consistently inconsistent."

Another example of how Merchant's mind works is when he said "A stranger comes inside the house and picks up a little girl and leaves the little boy there? It makes no sense."
That one boggles my mind; I think that one takes the cake.
I have to disagree . Especially if it would have been a sexual offender. They usually prefer one sex over another. Plus, her little brother was much younger.

Well, by that hour of the morn, who wouldn't need to go? lol

You know, issue was taken that Misty didn't use the master bathroom but for me, there's no issue being that she said she saw a light on in the kitchen.
I mean, I believe I can say with certainty that if I woke up and saw a light on that shouldn't be on, I'd check it out first before using the bathroom.
In Misty's situation, she said she thought Ronald was home.
Agreed. I’ve always wondered why they went on about the two bathroom deal. I don’t think that’s a clue.

Plus, then you would have to try to quietly wrangle TWO very young kids. If she knew who was there, she very well might have gotten up and went to them willingly and he stayed asleep. Easy peasy.

Exactly. Just now I remembered Elizabeth Smart! The perp took her and left her sister behind. In that case, her sister woke up, too.

I seem to always miss some posts I only see later because I see someone responding to one I had not seen yet I'd swear I always start at or try to where I last left off in reading posts. I'll figure that out someday.

Yeah, the need to pee is the foremost reason for waking up. Imo. But I resist and resist because I want to sleep until I have no choice. If I then got up and saw a light and figured it was my hb or bf in this case, I would need to pee so bad at that point I'd pee first as I figure it's him and I'd pee in the closest bathroom and then go check it out if I had no reason to think it anything too odd.

I'm being serious, that's what I'd do.

All we can really do, all of us is go by our own experiences and ways and speculate.

The 3 br+, 2ba double wide I talked of had a bathroom right off the bedroom, the other was across the "trailer" and I always headed for the one nearest which was RIGHT there.

Lol these posts are getting a little whatever, not sure of the word, down to needs to pee, etc., what one would do first, etc.

Why would she worry about the light right away if she simply thought he was home, I definitely would pee first lol.

Anyhow it makes me wonder something I'm not sure I've ever thought about. Were there nightlights or any small light left on as a routine? Not sure we know or do you know? I mean H was 5 and might awake and need to pee, usually most leave something on for everyone just to navigate to do such.

Because the actual first thing I'd do if I had kids at home and in my room is look to see they were both there.

This is an actual fact, in the wee hours this morning, it sounded like something fell in my kitchen. I'd been in that stage of kind of in and out but nowhere near waking up yet. However no one should be here. The first thing I did was look and saw both cats, were on the bed, so then it was like WTH. AND THAT GOT ME UP because what or who caused something to fall and sound like that? There's still no answer, I didn't find anything on the floor it would have been, etc. Point is I looked for the cats first as if one had been missing, I may have well told myself he knocked something over and went back to sleep but it couldn't have been them because both were present.

And yeah, we are all getting into these little details of whether one would pee first, use this bathroom or that one, what one would hear. Etc.

All I'm saying is we all are and it's all just speculation, and it's not any proof certainly and it shows how subjective it would be to jury members as we all differ on what we'd do.

However, this post you say you'd check out the light before peeing but then say she thought it was Ronald. Why would you check it out then if not worried instead of peeing first?

I don't think I've seen so many posts about having to pee on here until now LMAO. Me included guilty of it.

Back to I made sure both my cats were there and fine and I mean while still in bed, glancing for them. I'd do the same with children. If any light source at all so you can navigate yourself, first thing as heading for the bathroom would be to ensure my children were still in bed. Imo. Just as I did with my cats today.

I don't buy any of the scenario anyhow so to me these are all likely false facts, a made up story. But of course will debate it happily, lol.

Our floor didn't creak or anything either, I was hearing him and feeling the movement even more so. I mean you aren't telling me if Nancy had had heels on that she couldn't hear them on a bare floor are you? Not saying any perp wore heels but am just giving an example. And my hub was trying to be quiet as he knew it always woke me.
Ronald's mother was there with a producer.
If you'd like to see the episode, it's on page 19, post 378.

Yeah, but not because I was "worried" but because I'd have no idea of why it was on and my curiosity would be greater than my need to go (lol).
In Misty's situation, she already had an idea as to why the light was on.

No, I've never heard anything about nightlights.

I wouldn't expect her to have checked to see whether Haleigh was there and I'm not surprised that she didn't notice that she wasn't.

My theory is that Misty and some of the people who are suspects were partying with drugs. Hayleigh overdosed when someone wasn't watching and died. She came up with the kidnapping story and told that to Ron before finally admitting, at some point, what really happened.

That was what came out of the rumor mill from the locals in the area. I used to be in contact with one of them and she heard that theory many times. Also that Misty and her brother threw her body in the river. LE must think that could be plausible too, since they have taken Misty out there on at least one occasion.

Thank you for that. I probably won't right now as living a bad nightmare of a day but I can refer back to watch it with you giving page and post. . And as any of us, I take my personal experiences and what is known and I think I'd have woken up.

Man, I just had my third call from work today. To talk about that would belong in the thread going on about insurance and such things. So I'll leave it. With the recent healthcare CEO shooting. If anyone can freshly bitc* about such, boy can I right now, and the system.

I am in a total game and nastiness of a system right now, and boy...

And hello. Always good to "see" you.

That's versus me who doesn't get up to pee, tries to resist until one absolutely has to. And since she already thought it was Ron, what would be the worry about not hitting the bathroom first.

Again, all we can all do with this is look at for one how we think we'd be ourselves. What we'd hear, do, etc.

And if I saw a light on I was curious about, I'd certainly glance towards my children first. Are they here or is one up and about...? I mean Haileigh was old enough to turn a light on. In a lot of cases, it is what people don't say... Imo she's lying. And always has been. I mean I wouldn't walk to their rooms and check first but that wasn't the situation here, they were not in other rooms allegedly.

But again, none of us can know for sure. And we are just basing some off our own experiences and thoughts of course based on what we know and have lived.

Thank you for that.

And hello. Always good to "see" you.
You're welcome and yes, always good to see you, too.

I believe her LE recorded interviews would clear up a lot of inaccurate perceptions.
Btw, I think it's very, very wrong that LE will make public accusations while withhold that from the public.
(I'm sure of what they'd say is the reason but I don't think it's right.)

Because they are allowed to lie to suspects and the public and they will. I get not giving the public all of the info, but do not understand how they can be allowed to flat out lie to the public and to suspects. I would rather people be convicted on the truth rather than lies.

Hey, at least you interact lol even if we don't always agree, and let me know if you feel I don't respect your position because you never take offense.

I am always glad to see you. You discuss at least.

LE imo has very few things they can do these days and I don't agree with taking such away from them. Not that I think they should have total carte blanche. Sometimes it is to spur something, see what happens, etc.

I TRY, to always take my opinion from what we do know and see. Not saying I always never let other play in but I try to keep it that way. I have never believed this story from day one.

I also definitely do not agree with all laws, rules and ways. What should be allowed and what shouldn't but that also swings both ways for me.

We already know we aren't going to agree on this one but I can definitely agree with some things and I love that you interact. Never take offense, and discuss. Vice versa by the way, I never take offense either. I love to discuss, debate, when there is time.

There are a couple here I believe who think Haileigh got into drugs one or the other had. I can't discount that theory at all. It isn't where I lean but I would lean there before thinking Misty or dad was innocent. Mostly her, and for various reasons.

I don't know. I know this, what I say on a site like this versus if I was a juror is different, Definitely we have not seen enough to convict. WEll they know stuff we don't so maybe, but based on what we've seen.

They sure were not dad of the year, and she was not gf of the year, mom to the kids.

That is fact imo. None of us probably are and anyone who claims such is full of sh*t but they were both convicted of other things, Doesn't make them guilty of this but I just have never bought the story.

Anyhow, aside from all of this, happy to see you and I just do not buy it, and most i think don't. I probably could not convict her unless they told us more than we know though, that they may know.

I can go both ways on this. Much has been stripped away as to what they can do. I am dealing with something more minor but like this right now. I am having words twisted, put in my mouth, etc. NOTHING will make me not say NO, that's not what I said. Or question what the other person says. It's not murder but some similarties and not crime related.

So I really go both ways on it.

And I don't know what the answer is.

But I do know what is going on as to why.

I was not born yesterday but it still does shock me.

It is one helluva world,

All being run by idiots.
