Girl last seen in Manchester in October 2019; police seek tips from public

Manchester police are seeking tips from the public about the disappearance of a girl not seen in more than two years.

Harmony Montgomery, 7, was last seen in a home in Manchester in October 2019, when she was 5, police said.

Police said they first learned Harmony went missing earlier this week. Chief Allen Aldenberg did not specify who reported the girl missing but said his department has been in touch with multiple family members and will continue to speak with them.

Aldenberg said police are not searching for any adult or vehicle in connection with the case. Investigators are focusing on the whereabouts of Harmony.

"No time is a good time for a child to go missing," Aldenberg said. "I'm begging the community. I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and you think it's irrelevant. Call us."

Aldenberg said at a news conference Friday his detectives are working to confirm where Harmony is from and where she went to school before her disappearance.

Harmony is estimated to be approximately 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. Investigators said she has blonde hair, blue eyes and should be wearing glasses.

"We need help," Aldenberg said. "This remains a very active investigation."

New Hampshire seeks to dismiss claim that DCYF had legal care of Harmony Montgomery

The state of New Hampshire is seeking to dismiss part of a lawsuit filed by Harmony Montgomery's biological mother.

That lawsuit says that the Division of Children, Youth and Families was legally responsible for the girl when she was murdered by her father, Adam Montgomery, but the state says that isn't true.

The attorney general's office is arguing that Adam Montgomery had custody of his daughter when he killed her, and it's claiming that when she died, the state was still in the assessment phase of her case and hadn't yet initiated court proceedings to bring Harmony into its care.

The state argues there was no breach of fiduciary duty, which is another way to say, "legal care."

"Even assuming everything Harmony's mother says is true, it still isn't enough for the judge to find there's been a breach of fiduciary duty by DCYF," O'Neill said.

A judge will review the motion, and O'Neill said Sorey and her attorney will have a chance to respond. He said the motion is just one claim, and the lawsuit will continue to move forward.

So because they drug their feet, it's not their fault? That's what I'm reading here.

My computer is being a b*tch today with loading anything. Anyone else having issues? I've had to restart it like 25 times, then it loads and five minutes later won't again, so I'm having trouble reading links, etc. as they won't load.

From what I read here, this is JUST a part of the overall claim against them/all but I'm unable to read the link to be sure.

Search for Harmony Montgomery presses on a year after father’s conviction

As Sgt. Jack Dunleavy patrols the streets of Manchester, New Hampshire, each night he can’t help but think of Harmony Montgomery.

It’s been more than five years since anyone saw the 5-year-old girl alive, and one year since her father, Adam Montgomery, was convicted of killing her. Harmony’s remains have yet to be found.

“You always have to have hope‚” Dunleavy said.

Driving by the “sites of the crime day in and day out” is a “constant reminder” of not just the horrific nature of the case, but also the quest to deliver justice for Harmony’s family, he said.

Harmony was reported missing to Manchester, New Hampshire, police in December 2021. By then, she hadn’t been seen in two years.

Despite Adam Montgomery’s silence, the search wears on.

Attorneys for Adam Montgomery appeal murder conviction in daughter Harmony's death

Attorneys for Adam Montgomery, who was convicted of murdering his daughter, Harmony, are filing an appeal of his murder conviction.

The appeal takes issues with three of the court's decisions, ultimately asking the New Hampshire Supreme Court to reverse the convictions, according to WMUR, WMTW's sister station in Manchester.

First, it argues that Montgomery should have been tried separately on charges that he assaulted Harmony in July 2019, five months before she was killed. Instead, Montgomery faced a single trial on assault and murder charges.

Montgomery's attorneys also suggest that the court should not have allowed testimony from his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, about Harmony's abuse and neglect.

Kayla Montgomery reached a plea deal with prosecutors to testify against Adam Montgomery. She served prison time for lying to a grand jury about the case.

Lawyers for Adam Montgomery argue that although Kayla Montgomery testified about the prior alleged abuse of Harmony, the necessary factual connection of the evidence was lacking.

Attorneys also take issue with body camera video that was shown to jurors of a 2021 encounter with Adam Montgomery and Manchester police days after it was learned Harmony was missing. The judge ruled before the trial that jurors could not hear the audio from the body camera.

Montgomery's lawyers said that video violated his constitutional right to silence and unfairly prejudiced him against jurors. Attorneys said the jurors could have inferred from the video that Adam Montgomery was not cooperative with police in the search for his daughter.

He won't get out and I hope he's already been knocked a few notches down in prison! One of the most depraved and disgusting people I've seen and I have followed TONS of crime.

This child too was failed by absolutely EVERYONE IN HER LIFE. Most notably her own sperm donor. I will NOT call him a father.

This was and is still a tough one to even think on the details.

DCF there should be SHUT DOWN because they are worthless.
