New Canaan mom Jennifer Dulos is missing: Here’s what we know

Fotis Dulos, 51, is the estranged husband of Jennifer Dulos, 50. She has been missing since May 24, 2019. Fotis Dulos operates a building company, The Fore Group. He has built custom homes in Fairfield and Litchfield counties and the Farmington Valley. In her initial divorce filing, Jennifer Dulos described her husband’s affinity for water skiing, which she characterized as an “obsession.” She said he insisted on their children training to be world-class water skiers, and had them on a strict training regimen that she believed was dangerous and excessive, and sometimes would go on from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dulos friend pleads not guilty in missing mother case

A Connecticut attorney charged in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of a mother of five has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.

Kent Mawhinney will continue to be held on $2 million bond after a brief court appearance Thursday. His attorney did not comment while leaving the courthouse.

Fotis Dulos was charged with her murder but died last month.

I'm trying to catch up here. Did dulos leave a suicide note that we can see? Or are they keeping that under wraps.
Hi fellow CW's! I am a new poster here (hi!); apologies in advance if I am doing anything wrong - feel free to advise! Not a newbie to the case, however - I have been following the case very closely. I'm from the area and know it well, but do not know any of the parties involved.

Some very interesting things about the suicide note are:
  • LE has not confirmed its existence. AFAIK
  • The only one yapping about it is Fotis Dulos's former atty, Norm Pattis (NP)
  • NP CLAIMS to have heard 'the last wishes' of FD - as if there was more than just the suicide note
So - if NP knew FD's last wishes that we haven't heard he heard, did he have any hint that Fd was going to commit suicide?

What we DO know:
NP left Fd on his own that morning, despite the fact that he had to have known he was very stressed, had to be in court, and - shockingly - was driving on his own. What if he had to go to jail - what about his car, etc.? So odd, all around.

Admittedly, they might not have suspected that he'd commit suicide, okay. But If he couldn't cover bail, which they DID know was a possibility (hence, the bail hearing!) wouldn't they have been concerned that he'd jump bail by going off on his own -- knowing he'd likely end up in jail that day, and knowing how he did NOT want to go to jail?

Not sure if this makes sense, let me know if not! ;)

It makes sense all of the way around. And I wouldn't put anything past FD or NP.

I have read where people believe the suicide note is a fact, but I too have never seen a verification of that of any kind.

Was his body flown back to Greece for burial or what happened there?

I haven't kept up much recently.

:welcome:@Veritas ! Great post; sounds like you have a lot to contribute to this thread (and others, too)! I can't wait to hear more from you.

Hi Grandma! Thanks for the warm welcome! :grouphug:

It would be nice to know for certain from LE before the press takes things as a fact, as they have in this case. Many things that were said by Norm Pattis (NP - Fotis's lawyer) to his best buddy at the Hartford Courant Dave Altamari (sp?) - have proven to be lies. This one would probably be way too big a lie, though, so - for that reason - I believe it. Perhaps foolishly.

His body was, interestingly, cremated by his sister Rena. Why is that interesting? Because the family claimed to be ultra-religious Greek Orthodox, and they don't believe in cremation. His mother, who was run over by his Greek nanny (another VERY interesting story - don't get me going, haha!), was cremated immediately after her death without any investigation. All so odd!

Hmm. That was allowed with a person charged who apparently committed suicide because of such charges? Cremation? I know this is a serious case but sometimes it seems like a made for TV movie. Or a murder mystery fiction novel, unfortunately, because there are real people involved, and children.

I know a bit about the nanny and the mother dying because of her.

I am sure it was a cost savings for both, not to mention the Greek nation is running out of room to bury their dead and this may be a reason for the lax in the Greek Orthodox church.

Great to have you with us! I was at a conference last week so I missed your post until now.

The temporary administrator of the accused wife-killer’s estate found he had only a total of $272 in two bank accounts — and that his home building company, Fore Group, had a balance of zero, according to the Hartford Courant.

The details emerged after Gloria Farber, the mother of Dulos’ estranged wife, Jennifer Farber Dulos, sought $4,400 a month in child support for the children. She now has custody of her grandchildren because their father is dead and their mother is presumed dead.

A Connecticut judge dropped murder charges against Dulos last week even as his attorneys claimed some unknown person who is still at large left his wife’s bloody clothes on his doorstep. Attorney Norm Pattis said the only reason he was caught throwing away the bloody items is because someone else had left the evidence on his porch.

That's a new one! Someone left their bloody clothes at their doorstep? And we're supposed to believe this because.....?

Cool, I don't have Netflix and don't know a whole lot about this.

"MY NAME IS MICHELLE TROCONIS. FOR THE PAST YEAR, PEOPLE HAVE SAID MANY THINGS ABOUT ME – SOME KIND; SOME CRUEL. I WAS ADVISED BY MY LAWYERS TO REMAIN QUIET AND RELY ON THE JUSTICE SYSTEM, WHICH IS VERY FRUSTRATING FOR ME BECAUSE THERE IS A LOT I WOULD WISH TO SAY. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A YEAR SINCE I FIRST HEARD ABOUT THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JENNIFER DULOS. AS A MOTHER, I AM SADDENED FOR THE LOSS THAT THESE FIVE CHILDREN HAVE SUFFERED, BEING LEFT WITHOUT BOTH PARENTS IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

"BUT DESPITE THE WAY I HAVE BEEN TREATED BY THE POLICE, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT JENNIFER DULOS' WHEREABOUTS OR WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO HER. I KNOW THAT UNDER AMERICAN LAW, I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE MY INNOCENCE, BUT ACTUALLY TO ME IT FEELS THAT WAY, DURING ALL THIS TIME WHILE UNDER PUBLIC SCRUTINY.

"TO THOSE WHO ARE QUICK TO JUDGE PEOPLE THEY DO NOT KNOW, LET ME SAY THIS: IT IS POSSIBLE TO MISJUDGE OTHERS. WHETHER OR NOT FOTIS DULOS WAS CAPABLE OF DOING THE THINGS THE POLICE AND PROSECUTORS ACCUSED HIM OF DOING, I DO NOT KNOW. BUT BASED ON WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IN THE LAST YEAR, I THINK IT WAS A MISTAKE TO HAVE TRUSTED HIM."

Grim milestone: Questions remain 1 year after disappearance of Jennifer Dulos

Sunday marks exactly one year since Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five from Connecticut, vanished.

Her disappearance gained national attention and set off an investigation that led to arrests, accusations and suicide.

Fast forward 12 months and Luft is speaking out again -- but this time she released a statement that read in part, "We miss Jennifer beyond words. The ache of her absence doesn't go away. Countless questions remain unanswered."

As for Jennifer, her mother has custody of her five children -- children that the family say are "taller, stronger, wiser and more like their mom every day."
