New Canaan mom Jennifer Dulos is missing: Here’s what we know

Fotis Dulos, 51, is the estranged husband of Jennifer Dulos, 50. She has been missing since May 24, 2019. Fotis Dulos operates a building company, The Fore Group. He has built custom homes in Fairfield and Litchfield counties and the Farmington Valley. In her initial divorce filing, Jennifer Dulos described her husband’s affinity for water skiing, which she characterized as an “obsession.” She said he insisted on their children training to be world-class water skiers, and had them on a strict training regimen that she believed was dangerous and excessive, and sometimes would go on from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

State Police end search of Avon property in Jennifer Dulos case

A property where Jennifer and Fotis Dulos once lived with their children was the focus of an intense search Thursday as a convoy of state police investigators and cadaver dogs looked for evidence in the disappearance of the New Canaan mother.

Police spent about eight hours searching the home and wooded property at 44 Sky View Drive in Avon. A septic company also emptied the property’s large tank and the sludge will be examined for evidence, a source close to the investigation said.

"They left no stone unturned," he said.

An unknown DNA sample was discovered on trash bag Fotis Dulos threw away in Hartford hours after Jennifer Farber Dulos disappeared

One of the trash bags that Fotis Dulos was captured on surveillance video throwing away on Albany Avenue on the same night his estranged wife Jennifer Farber Dulos disappeared had a fourth, unknown DNA sample on it, according to an appellate court filing by Michelle Troconis.

The DNA testing also revealed that despite what state police wrote in their arrest warrants there was no definitive finding that Troconis’ DNA is on any of the trash bags and on one of them Dulos’ was eliminated as a source of the DNA.

The state police forensic laboratory report was included in a 14-page motion by Attorney Jon Schoenhorn, who is seeking an emergency hearing to remove the GPS bracelet that Troconis has been ordered to wear since her first arrest back in June 2019.

In arrest warrants state police said that on one of the recovered trash bags from a bin at the corner of Albany Avenue and Green Street in Hartford they had found DNA from Dulos, Troconis and Jennifer Farber Dulos.

But the lab report submitted as an exhibit by Schoenhorn says that there were four, separate DNA samples found on that trash bag and at least one of them is unknown. In addition Dulos is eliminated as a DNA contributor on that bag and DNA tests for Troconis are inconclusive.

On a second set of trash bags taped together state police said they found Jennifer Farber Dulos’ DNA and Troconis’ DNA on the bag. But the lab report states that Troconis can “not be eliminated” as a DNA source on that bag.

Schoenhorn wrote the warrant “falsely avers that two swabs of the exterior of garbage bags recovered in Hartford showed a DNA match to Michelle Troconis.”

New 'Dateline NBC' Focuses On Day Jennifer Dulos Disappeared

An episode of "Dateline NBC" airing Monday night will focus on the day Jennifer Farber Dulos disappeared, and the show will feature interviews with Connecticut Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo and state police Sgt. Kenneth Ventresca.

In Monday's broadcast, entitled "The Day Jennifer Disappeared," Ventresca, lead investigator for state police, says the case remains active, and he is "confident" authorities will find her.

Colangelo offers similar sentiments, hinting there may be more searches forthcoming in the Farmington and Avon areas.

"You know, I have theories," Colangelo tells Dennis Murphy of NBC News. "I have ideas. There's a lot of property up there that Mr. Dulos owns, you know, in the Farmington, Avon area."

Thanks I just set it up to record.

Watched this show last night. Well done. I've followed this case but it was a good refresher.

Fotis is NOT a bright man. He literally took her car to the park (likely with her body inside) in broad daylight. Investigators admitted that he was extremely lucky to not be seen. THEN he is tracked via his cell phone and seen on several surveillance cameras dumping bloody packages in dumpsters and down storm drains... Come on.

How is he this stupid and she hasn't been found?

He planned everything out beforehand. He likely had a pre-dug grave somewhere. But I think she'll be found in an area they've already looked at and investigated.

I saw a few new headlines on this case today but figured they came from the Dateline show so I did not post them. I am going to watch this, not now but hope to remember to do so later tonight or tomorrow... Thanks for putting the link up. I could never quite decide how stupid Fotis was, he seemed not bright but they had him saying so little other than maybe something to his kids or I loved my wife (ha), I could never quite decide... But he sure did leave a trail of stupidity... And then suicide... Smh.

He struck me as a user and player. Con man. And not a very good one. Control freak. Even going back to how he first connected with Jennifer... Seems like he knew what he was doing. Then he milks, uses, gets money from the inlaws, makes it harder as they have children until his ways and well run dry or someone (probably Jennifer) starts to see his true colors, realizes his games and almost always infideility in such cases,... And/or they start to see how the other parents is with the children... Jmo...

He didn’t need to be smart to hide her well; there are a million ways to have disposed of her, and a million places where she could have been taken-the authorities cannot look everywhere, as hard as they have tried. I think Dulos just got lucky-and think he had help. Help that he knew wouldn’t talk.

Fair point. You don't have to be smart to hide someone. I just think with how stupid he was for the 99 other things he did, he got super lucky.

Lawyer: Jennifer Dulos likely ‘dismembered’ and should be declared dead

The attorney handling the estate for Fotis Dulos says Jennifer Dulos was likely “dismembered” and wants a probate judge to declare the New Canaan mother legally dead.

Attorney Christopher Hug, administrator of the estate of Fotis Dulos, needs Judge Evelyn Daly to determine if Jennifer Dulos predeceased her estranged husband so a Fidelity Individual Retirement Account can be used for the estate and creditors, according to documents filed in Farmington Probate Court.

Since Fotis Dulos did not name a beneficiary of the Fidelity account worth $194,000, state law requires the money to go to his wife who has been missing since May, 24, 2019. Police have said Jennifer Dulos is presumed dead based on blood evidence found in her garage.

According to his court filing, Hug “remains active in assisting law enforcement with locating Jennifer's remains, which are now believed to have been in multiple dismembered parts."

Hug does not say what evidence he has that supports she was dismembered and he did not respond to a request for comment.

Chief State's Attorney Richard J. Colangelo Jr., who is prosecuting the case, said he had no knowledge of whether Jennifer Dulos had been dismembered.

If Jennifer Dulos is declared dead, the money from the Fidelity IRA would go to the administration of the estate and any creditors, Weinstein said.

Weinstein said he believes little will be left for the Dulos children once all of the creditors have been satisfied.

New Video Released In Case Of Missing Connecticut Mother Jennifer Dulos

It is the video that Connecticut police say helped them connect Fotis Dulos to the disappearance of his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos.

On Monday, we’re seeing that video for the first time.

CBS2’s Tony Aiello has more on what it shows and why it’s being released.

It was the night of May 24, 2019, just hours after Jennifer Dulos was reported missing.

Fotis Dulos is seen in a black pickup, perhaps unaware he was on a Hartford street loaded with sophisticated surveillance cameras.

The video shows Fotis Dulos stopping to dump bags in the trash, and also leaving what appears to be a car mat on the side of a deli.

When cops traced his phone to the spot and found this video, it was the first big break in the case. It led to charges against Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, who claims she was just along for the ride and not a knowing participant in disposing of evidence.

Wow. It's pretty difficult to believe that she knew nothing imo. We already have someone who was having an affair with him, worked for him and knew or seemed to know of the business "activities" and now she has no clue riding with him what he was disposing of or why he hits people's garbage cans, doesn't use his own or just go to a commercial car vac and garbage?? Was this something they commonly did when cleaning a car out whether she believed coffee or not (I doubt it), they spaced everything to different garbage cans like almost on a road trip and a deli?

"Hunny, where'd you get the red coffee?" :eyeroll:

No kidding right? And if she thought he cared, he kind of left her hanging with it all didn't he?

It isn't' funny but his leaving a note saying she is innocent or whatever, did he really believe that a court or LE just accepts that? Or that he was as well? I mean his lawyer should have told him as much... If he wanted to do something right, he would have told where his children's mother is buried at if he left any remains.

He probably didn't tell anyone because there is probably some evidence that could be traced back to his accomplices.

Not sure why, but he is one I would have never pegged to commit suicide... I almost feel he thought he would be found in time and his note, etc. would have an effect. I wouldn't call him smart with his little garbage trip...

New charges filed against woman in Jennifer Dulos case

Connecticut prosecutors filed new evidence tampering charges Friday against a woman accused in connection with the presumed killing of Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five whose disappearance last year spurred interest nationwide.

Michelle Troconis, a dual American and Venezuelan citizen, appeared in a state courtroom in Stamford for a bail hearing as her lawyer asked a judge to ease her release conditions.

Before the hearing, Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr. filed two new counts of conspiracy to commit evidence tampering in connection with what authorities allege were efforts to cover up the killing of Dulos. Troconis' lawyer, Jon Schoenhorn, has denied the allegations against her.

A judge on Friday relaxed some conditions of her release on bail, but postponed a decision on her request to remove her from GPS monitoring.

Troconis previous pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit murder and other evidence tampering counts.

If someone asks to have their GPS monitoring removed, that in and of itself is enough for me to think that NO she shouldn't be able to take it off.
