New Canaan mom Jennifer Dulos is missing: Here’s what we know

Fotis Dulos, 51, is the estranged husband of Jennifer Dulos, 50. She has been missing since May 24, 2019. Fotis Dulos operates a building company, The Fore Group. He has built custom homes in Fairfield and Litchfield counties and the Farmington Valley. In her initial divorce filing, Jennifer Dulos described her husband’s affinity for water skiing, which she characterized as an “obsession.” She said he insisted on their children training to be world-class water skiers, and had them on a strict training regimen that she believed was dangerous and excessive, and sometimes would go on from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The lifestyle of the privileged. So she can't wear a ski boot and that is her reason in court for wanting a monitor removed. Smh. And what kid of attorney would not tell a client that is a really poor reason to take to a judge? A different world, that's for sure... Poor Michelle.
If you have $$ enough to even have to worry about NEEDING to wear a ski boot, you should have enough $$ to buy a pair that fits over your bling. I know plenty of people that had to wear a monitor, whether it be GPS or alcohol, and they were able to wear work boots to work with theirs on or they wouldn't have been able to keep their jobs if they couldn't have. That is definitely one of those "where there's a will, there's a way" kind of things.

Yeah it would be humorous if it was not so clueless and disgusting. It is not even her skiing but to see her daughter ski. Put a darned whatever over it, it's not a fashion contest. The judge made the remark it has nothing to do with working or earning a living. These people who seem to think these are important life affecting issues... Makes me think of Weinstein, Ghislaine and Lori Loughlin's husband Mossimo who only had a few month sentence and is trying to get release. Whining. What about the victims? Smh.

'I didn't do it': Michelle Troconis proclaims innocence in Jennifer Dulos case in newly released video interview

A visibly upset Michelle Troconis offered to help detectives look for the remains of Jennifer Dulos in a video released by her attorney Wednesday in the latest attempt to have some charges dismissed in the case.

This latest motion came one day after Troconis appeared for a virtual court hearing in which the state confirmed that co-defendant Kent Mawhinney, a longtime friend and lawyer of Jennifer Dulos’ estranged husband, will likely testify if the case goes to trial.

In his most recent effort to have some of the charges dismissed, Troconis’ attorney, Jon Schoenhorn, contends that state police detectives “disregarded” facts in the arrest warrants used to charge his client with tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution.

“In particular, the defendant alleges that the Sept. 2, 2019 arrest warrant affidavit, prepared and submitted by Detective John Kimball of the Connecticut State Police, contained falsehoods, recklessly disregarded the truth, and omitted material facts, that negated probable cause,” Schoenhorn said in the motion filed Wednesday.

Schoenhorn asked Judge John F. Blawie to dismiss the charges, arguing the arrest warrant affidavits were filled with inaccuracies and omissions, citing forensic reports and his client’s statements in three videotaped interviews with state police detectives.

I don't even know what to think in this case any longer sometimes. A visibly upset Michelle? In a latest attempt to get some charges dismissed? Offering to help look? In a video released by her own attorney? Okay, she has my deepest sympathy. NOT.

Just recently I thought she was upset over not being able to wear a ski boot. Was she visibly shaken over that? Is this the same shaken and upset she had over the ankle bracelet? Forgive me if I doubt it.

Hard to comprehend the worlds of some people I guess. Of course everything we get or hear is through media, etc.

To me, this case is a perfect example of when people "collude" together or get in "cahoots" against another but when the pressure gets to be too much or their relationships fall apart they then turn on each other... Who shall win...? Mawhinney or Michelle? They likely both belong in prison for the rest of their lives like Patrick Frazee and Krystal Kenney but Kenney had the connections, the power and I guess the financial backing to get herself a sweet little deal.

Kind of like old Fotis. I guess he died from apparent "suicide". So did Epstein... I guess he left a note or someone did exonerating Michelle Troconis... Like that is proof or evidence of anything? Really? Did he think that? Seriously? That his word would be taken as gold? Or did someone?

It has it all. Money, lust, greed, lies and you name it. No wonder this one was picked up... Sex, lies and videotapes... Only the cameras show a garbage dumping spree with Michelle along for the ride. No skiing that day...

I am having a very cynical "attitudinal" day. Obviously.

How does one offer to help look while simultaneously stating that they are innocent?

'Jennifer's Law' proposed to make coercive control included in description of domestic violence

A newly proposed bill named after Jennifer Dulos would add coercive control to the definition of domestic violence and put child safety as a priority in custody cases by making domestic violence the first factor to consider, a lawmaker says.

The bill is being proposed by State Sen. Alex Kasser, who says coercive control includes psychological abuse, emotional abuse, financial abuse, and legal abuse.

"It expands our legal definition of domestic violence and abuse to recognize that there are many nonphysical forms of abuse. For instance, threatening a woman that you are going to take away her children," Kasser explained.

Attempt by Michelle Troconis' attorney to get GPS ankle monitor removed fails

The latest attempt to remove Michelle Troconis' GPS ankle monitor failed Monday.

A judge previously ruled that Troconis would keep her GPS monitor while out on bond, but said he would allow her to switch to a wrist bracelet if the technology were to be available. Troconis' attorney, Jon Schoenhorn, went through the appellate court in this bid for removal.

Judge denies defense's change-of-venue request in Jennifer Dulos case

A Superior Court judge has denied Michelle Troconis’ request for a change of venue and ruled the three sets of charges against her can proceed in a single trial.

Troconis has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in the May 2019 death and disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.

In his ruling Friday, Judge John Blawie said he saw “no valid basis, either in law or in fact, to order the transfer of these prosecutions to the Hartford Judicial district over the state’s objections.”

Judge will not declare Jennifer Dulos dead

A Farmington probate judge ruled that the individual retirement account owned by Fotis Dulos belongs to his estate, avoiding the need to declare Jennifer Dulos dead.

Attorneys representing his missing estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, and their children argued before Farmington Probate Judge Evelyn Daly in early April that the individual retirement account, which is worth $194,000, belongs to the estate of Fotis Dulos.

Daly agreed in a brief order issued Thursday.

Attorney Christopher Hug, the administrator of the estate of Fotis Dulos, couldn’t access the retirement account unless it was determined that Jennifer Dulos had predeceased her estranged husband since no beneficiary was named.

Hug had asked Daly to declare Jennifer Dulos dead based on arrest warrants served on Fotis Dulos, but the judge declined, instead seeking more concrete evidence including police testimony. Rather than hold a second hearing, Hug and attorneys representing Gloria Farber, the mother of Jennifer Dulos, the interests of Jennifer Dulos, and the Dulos children, brokered a stipulation giving the estate the right to the funds, court filings show.

“Further considering the unfortunate publicity and stress that would be imposed on her children if the court requires extensive evidence to be given to determine if Jennifer Farber Dulos did in fact predecease her late husband, the undersigned on behalf of Jennifer Farber Dulos and acting in her best interests, irrevocably waives any interest in the IRA,” Alter said in court papers.

I'm unsure what that means.

One thing it should do is prevent him from getting rid of combined assets.
He's dead too so he won't be doing anything.

From what I can gather...(I'm a bit confused too TBH)

Fotis had a retirement account. He didn't name a beneficiary to the account, so when he died, the money would technically go to his wife Jennifer. However, Jennifer is missing. So the court could declare her deceased and determine she died prior to him, and then the money would belong to his estate. But the judge did not rule this way, he wants more evidence that she is deceased. Attorneys representing Jennifer's mom, Jennifer's interests, and her children basically said that they believe she's dead, but they don't want to go through the evidence and publicity of proving it, but they don't think they have a right to the money. So it was ruled that the money in that account belongs to Fotis' estate.

His estate doesn't have much. There's a lot of hands grabbing for what's there, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on. I think since Jennifer's mom sued Fotis she may get money from his estate anyway. Her attorney has said that all money that she receives will go to the kids.

I wouldn't doubt it is the attorneys who will get this money. If I recall correctly, it was this account that he needed the court to allow access to since a divorce was in the works to be able to pay his criminal defense or divorce attorney when he was alive. Now there is an estate/probate attorney. Like you said, there are tons of places it could end up and it sounds as if her mother does not want to fight it. They certainly have been in a long hard fight and in the public eye, hard on the children who now have neither parent, I don't blame her. The money is a drop in the bucket compared to what he cost them and compared to what her mother has for assets.

Woman who paid deposit for Fotis Dulos' $6M bond wants money back

A woman described in paperwork as Fotis Dulos’ “best friend” is suing to get a $148,000 deposit back from the bond company that covered Dulos’ $6 million bail issued when he was charged last year with kidnapping and killing his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in February, Anna Curry, a North Carolina resident who was living with Fotis Dulos when he was arrested, alleges that she is owed the $148,000 deposit she gave 24/7 Bail Bonds, an agent of Palmetto Surety Company, since the company moved to withdraw the $6 million bond on Jan. 28, 2020.

Curry was prepared to pay the rest of the $420,000 deposit in installments over several months, filings show, but Fotis Dulos attempted suicide the morning of Jan. 28, 2020. At the time, Palmetto Surety Company, based in South Carolina, was about to revoke the $6 million on the grounds it exceeded the limitations of risk outlined in Connecticut state law, filings show.

“We moved to dismiss the claim because she doesn’t have one,” McGuigan said Wednesday. “The bond was never declared bad. Based on the facts and circumstances agreed upon, she doesn’t have a claim for relief.”

Confusing. It says the company "moved" to withdraw the bond on the date of his attempted suicide but then says it was "about to" revoke the bond. So I guess bond was never revoked nor declared bad. Does this mean the surety company gets it back from the court upon a suicide or not (probably a different issue and not what is relevant, no idea)? I mean in a way, he failed to show up for court by his own choice so I imagine the court would be allowed to keep the bond and it would be forfeited for failure to appear, all of it...?

Maybe it is his estate she should be suing... Not that she would get anything. In my mind, he is the one who failed her by failing to appear after she helped him out.
