Deputies searching for pregnant Pierce County woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances

A Pierce County family is desperate for answers in the search of a missing pregnant woman who seemingly vanished Tuesday morning.

Loved ones say it was the ultimate red flag when Kassanndra Cantrell, 33, failed to show up to her first ultrasound this week, something she’d so been looking forward, something they say she wouldn’t willingly miss.

“This is not normal, she wouldn’t just vanish…I just need her back," said Marie Smith, Cantrell's mother.

It’s been an agonizing four days since Smith last saw her daughter. It was early Tuesday morning when Smith was heading out to work.

"She just said 'have a good day at work' I said 'thank you'. She said 'love you' and I said 'love you'. And that was the last time," said Smith about her last conversation with her daughter.

About an hour later, at 8:45 a.m. a security camera caught her driving away in her 2014 white Mazda sedan from her and mother’s Parkland home. The only plan her mom knew she had that day was at some point to go to the grocery store.

“I don't think that's where she was going when she left. Everything seemed to indicate she was going to see somebody because if she was going to the grocery store she would’ve just put her hair in a ponytail and put on some jeans and headed out, but it was clear she’d taken a shower and gotten dressed. She had taken some extra time, she doesn’t do that just to go grocery shopping," said Smith.

When she didn’t return home later that day or answer any calls, the fear started to sink in. even more so when they discovered her phone was turned off. “She never turns her phone off, and she wouldn’t stop all her social interactions. It doesn’t make any sense, something has happened.”

The nightmare deepened when Cantrell didn’t show up for her very first ultrasound appointment on Wednesday afternoon.

“She wouldn’t have missed it for the world, it doesn’t make any sense for her to be gone at all," said Smith.

Smith said her daughter was about three months pregnant. The father is a friend, and though unexpected, for Cantrell it was the most welcomed surprise.

“When she found out she was thrilled because she wasn’t sure that she'd have a chance to have a baby and so she was really excited, she already picked out names," said Smith.

@Miccistella Good chance you have already seen this but I am going to link it as he does a good short coverage of the facts and there were a few I had not read previously or they just did not sink in I guess. Others may want to watch it also. For instance, I never picked up on that he parked his truck and took a bike out, that he had her as Velma in his phone, etc. He shows this was clearly premeditated as I think has been pretty obvious but the facts truly show it was. It also leads me to believe the "wife" did not know due to a few of the nuggets in here...

He parked his truck at the garage THAT MORNING?! BEFORE she arrived. And turned off the security cams.
This wasn't a heat-of-the-moment thing. SOB planned it all. Poor Kassanndra. Thinking everything was fine between them only to be ambushed.

He got rid of her vehicle and phone VERY quickly. But he did not dump HER until 6:00 am the following day. Was she in the basement all that time? Had he already cleaned up and loaded her into his truck prior to his "girlfriend" returning home? Multiple trash bags. Ugh.

Yes, I have not watched this one of Linda's yet but the other one too covered much of the same, I don't recall the 6 a.m. part, where WAS the "wife"? It did have though enough with the truck, bike, cameras, to show it was clearly premeditated and planned! Evil creeper...

Not sure if this has the same info as the video above because I haven't watched either one yet, but I know a lot of you like Linda.

I just finished watching Linda. Worthwhile as it always is and not too long. She mainly went through the court docs but still her comments are always on target as well. Thanks for sharing this link.

Family of murdered Parkland woman upset over alleged killer selling house

The family of a Parkland woman says the house where she was murdered nearly two years ago is now for sale.

The owner of the house is the suspect in the case, the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

There aren’t any signs to indicate the house is for sale.

But the family found this listing online after they received a tip from some realtor friends.

Now they worry that the house where they believe someone they loved was murdered could be used to help the suspect flee.

Less than a month later, Dudley was arrested and charged with murder, his bail set at $2 million. Now his house is for sale for $470,000.

“It’s not about whether you want to buy the house or not,” said Marie Smith, her voice breaking. “It’s about who you’re helping right now.”

Cantrell’s mother is concerned that if he uses the proceeds from the sale toward his bail, others might be in danger, too.

“What does that mean for the family as far as like, are we safe?” Smith said. “And then, is he trying to leave?”

Karen Lindholdt, Dudley’s Spokane-based attorney, said by telephone he has no plans to try to make bail, period.

Kassanndra’s family isn’t buying that.

Dudley’s trial is set for early October.

He killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, dumped her body in UP. He’s now been sentenced
A Tacoma man pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced for murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend in 2020 and dumping her body off a hillside in University Place.

Colin Patrick Dudley, 40, was sentenced in Pierce County Superior Court to 26 years, 8 months in prison for first-degree murder in the domestic violence killing of 33-year-old Kassandra Cantrell. That sentence is the high end of the standard sentencing range for similar cases.

Several of the victim’s relatives spoke during the defendant’s sentencing hearing, including her twin brother, Robert Cantrell. KIRO 7 reported that the brother said he felt like Dudley was being allowed to make up his own punishment.

Outside the courtroom, the victim’s mother, Marie Smith, told the television station that she didn’t feel she had closure over her daughter’s murder. “People say that when it gets to this point, you feel closure,” Smith said. “I don’t. Closure would have been her coming home. That’s never going to happen.”

Another joke of a sentence. Kills a 33 or so year old woman and he will be out in his 60s IF he serves the max.

It is amazing to me how all these sentencing guidelines seem to have been changed somewhere in the past many years WITHOUT the public's knowledge.

If I had more time I would research when this all came about and why.

So where are the details in this case? Did his wife know? When and how did he do this? What is the evidence?

It was a plea deal. The prosecutors may have been insecure about getting first degree murder with the evidence they had. He was probably worried about getting first degree murder with the evidence they had. I agree with @SheWhoMustNotBeNamed it seems longer than normal. However, not enough in my opinion. If the theory I have is true, then maybe it's the best they could do.
