Philadelphia Police Searching For Missing 2-Year-Old King Hill

Philadelphia police are searching for a missing toddler. Police say 2-year-old King Hill was last seen at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday near 31st and Page Streets in the city’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.

Police say King was reported missing on Tuesday night by his stepfather.

Philadelphia Police Capt. Mark Burgmann says King was in the care of a babysitter, who told the stepfather that she returned King to his biological mother. Burgmann says the mother is disputing that claim.

“The biological mother is claiming that she did not return a child to her,” Burgmann said. “At this point in time, we have no idea where the child is. So we are very aggressively investigating this to find out where the child is.”

Burgmann says police believe King may be in danger.

Yeah, I hate to say it but the with the little we know, it is the stepfather not making sense. If mom was allowed to have him and supposed to get him per the father and the sitter, then I can't think of a single reason for the mom to deny getting him...?

I am certainly not definite, we don't know enough but as you say, why need to or send a text like that to begin with? I haven't tried or looked, I wonder if there is any "chit chat" out there...

Of course there was a mother the other day who denied having her son and she did have him...

I have changed my mind on what I am thinking here. My thoughts are centered on the "sitter" right now... I hate to speculate in case someone is not guilty but I am leaning towards sitter or sitter and stepdad...

I think as in many cases, we hear sitter, but it is likely a "gf". Gf is frustrated that stepdad is watching a kid she feels is not even his for days on end and perhaps she even has to help. She offers or is asked to watch him and lo and behold child is gone, ALLEGEDLY back to mother where she probably thought he belonged and probably resented the mother for not taking care of her own kid and using the stepfather. [I have read the stepfather is not "stepfather" no marriage ever existed, I cannot confirm it though].

I think stepfather went to pick up King after work or check with the sitter and she told him she took him back to the mom. Now stepdad's text to mom makes sense, checking sitter's story with mom and ensuring she has him.... He has no reason to be sure whether to believe sitter or mom... [Think Al Stauch, it happens] Maybe he even knew sitter resented his taking care of child and she had told him to take him back to the mother. STRESS: This is all speculation on my part... Trying to make sense of the facts we have...

Alternatively, it is the stepfather and the sitter and the sitter is helping to cover or both are part of it...

While on the surface, the mother seems guilty of being only too happy to let someone else take care of her child for weeks on end, his being dropped by a sitter with the mother on basically a corner or somewhere makes no sense whatsoever... The mother apparently did not have the boy and had not recently so his disappearance does not seem to lie with her...

Unless this case is like that other recent one where it looked like all were involved to hide a child from being taken by the State, I think the guilt lies with the sitter and/or the stepdad.

And again, I don't believe he is a stepdad, in fact I believe I read they had a relationship of all of four months... [IF true of course]

I have tried hard not to go overboard here or accuse, just my speculation. I don't know the players, nor even their names. All jmo.

yep. I'm starting to get the vibe that "baby sitter" possibly was a bitter gf that resented having to baby sit a kid that her bf has that isn't even his. Again, thinking of the Stauch case, too.

Exactly. Hard to say because our info is always so limited but I guess when one sees it enough, certain things hint at it... Jealousy is also in my opinion is usually a factor, when a man is willing to do that for an "ex" etc. the new woman sees there is still caring or feels there is still a connection and they hate that (some, not all).

I have not ruled out though this "stepfather" could be part of it... He may be one of those guys that would do anything for any child but it still strikes me as just a bit much that he would take this child for that long that easily...

And I could be entirely wrong on all of it.

But yes, I too have Stauch vibes... And other cases as well...

Jmo.

Just for the heck of it, I have been meaning to but looked up the Strawberry Mansion area of Philadelphia. One can find quite a bit, a long time old historic type area. If one looks at housing though it looks like quite a mix from very pricey restored historic places and homes to $30,000 places that look like the type of area that price would make you think of in a big city in this day and age. Don't get me wrong, not being judgey, we have owned a few places but never paid over $60,000 for a one of them (some years ago too) but we live in a very rural area.

I only looked it up for something to do as they say it was where King was last seen.

One thing I do appreciate on forums is when we have people who can give some insight on areas as we all live somewhere different. Like @Guess Who with Olivia yesterday. @Mel70 with George Floyd and riots, etc. @Kimster with the Karissa/Billy case and Oregon law.

If anyone knows more about these areas of Philly, I would like to know. I know it is a very high crime city and that that is nothing new...

This one is a bit different with some different info than I had seen before. Still a bit confusing...

This case is bothering me, he has been missing for some days already...

'We're leaving no stone unturned': Search continues for missing 2-year-old boy last seen in Philadelphia

Philadelphia police continue the search for a missing 2-year-old boy who was last seen on July 7.

During a news conference on Monday afternoon, Capt. Mark Burgmann said the police department is working tirelessly to bring the child home.

"We've put a tremendous amount of resources to this, probably more resources than we've ever devoted to any other investigation I've had here in the past over 40 years," he said.

Burgmann said authorities are determined to figure out what happened to King.

"We're leaving no stone unturned here. We're not going to stop until the child returns," he said.

Burgmann said that they've been able to talk to everyone involved, including the parents and the babysitter. Everyone was cooperative, police say, but they still have no new leads.

"Anybody who maybe had prior contact, please contact us. No matter how insignificant it is, so we can follow up on it," he said.

I wonder why this babysitter's name hasn't hit MSM yet?

“I’m enraged that this community isn’t enraged that a 2-year-old’s been missing since Tuesday. I do what I do because I believe in the community, and I’m a community person,” said search organizer Rick Ford.

On Monday afternoon, Ford organized a search for the toddler. The group searched for King in a trail near Strawberry Mansion but there is still no sign of the child.

“Anybody that hears my voice and knows where that little kid is, or anything, please contact the police department so we can find out where 2-year-old King Hill is,” Ford said.

SVU says they’ve allocated several resources to this case and continue to work around the clock.

No one is in custody at this point.

They did mention a witness reported seeing King on July 4 — a claim they are currently vetting.

But they have not located the 2-year-old to this point and are appealing to the public for any additional information.

“It has been a while now. It’s been almost a week since the child has been reported missing, it’s been more than that since the child has been seen so certainly I’m concerned,” said Capt. Burgmann. “We remain very hopeful, but as I said, we’re not going to stop looking until we find this child.”

Officials say missing children continue to be the No. 1 priority for the department, and they’ll continue looking for King.

Though there is no reward being offered at this time, police say they are looking into it. The FBI and state police are now involved in the investigation.

Do they even know when this child was last truly seen? I think of Amiah in Indy. I think of Evelyn Boswell... Evelyn has been found but no murder charges still and she was never reported missing at the time she went missing. Neither was Amiah. Was King?

They do say though in this case he has been missing since last Tuesday.... Is that a fact with sighting? Whether it is or not, we know ONE thing. No 2 year old went and started themselves a whole new life and are taking care of themself/himself.... He is WITH someone or he is DEAD. Brutal but true. After a week? Minimum?

Testy tonight. Get the people to TELL THE TRUTH! He is two years old for goodness sakes!!! He did not take off and build his own place! And if he is safe and this is some charade then that needs to be addressed too!

Over and out. I am a bit strong tonight :(

It’s been nearly a week since King was reported missing. His mother says King went to spend time with the father of her older daughter weeks ago which she says was routine. However, the mom says last week he asked if she picked up King from a babysitter. The mother says she didn't. Police say the babysitter says she did.

The mother of 2-year-old King Hill has another child with the man police call “the stepfather,” and the toddler was with him for the last few weeks, when he said he had a babysitter watch the toddler.

Captain of the Special Victims Unit Mark Burgmann said the babysitter told detectives she dropped off Hill to his mother on July 7.

“I believe that the stepfather reached out to her and asked her how the child was doing because he was going to drop something off at the house. That’s what alerted to her, he’s not here, and that’s when it all came to light,” Burgmann explained.

King Hill’s Mother Pleads For 2-Year-Old’s Safe Return As Weeklong Search Continues

It’s been a week since 2-year-old King Hill was reported missing, and Philadelphia police are “leaving no stone unturned” in their investigation to find him.

“I can’t sleep because my son’s out there,” said Amber Hill, King’s mother. “Every day that goes past, it’s just horrible for me. I can’t be by myself.”

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit have interviewed everyone involved in the boy’s care, including a babysitter who claims she dropped the child off with his mother near 31st and Diamond Streets. King’s mother says that handoff never happened.

“The babysitter, she’s lying on her end, completely. I just know she is,” Hill said. “You never dropped my son off, you never did none of that. You’re lying, you’re a liar.”

Hill tearfully pleaded for her son’s safe return.

“Everyone is just messed up right now but we’re not going to stop looking for him. I’m not going to stop looking for him,” she said.

It's unfair because there is probably one key liar in this case but even so I am going to say it--HOW DO YOU LOSE A TWO YEAR OLD??!!
