Intense search underway for missing toddler last seen 2 weeks ago

An intense police search is underway for a missing 18-month-old who was last seen two weeks ago, when she was dropped off to her father.

Police identified the child as Kytana Ancog.

“Help me look for my baby. She means the world to me. I love her so much,” said Kytana’s mother Ashley Ancog.

Kytana was dropped off Jan. 31 to her father, Travis Rodrigues, at his Kaulainahee Place address in Aiea.

“She dropped the baby off with him and never got her back,” said Lisa Mora, Kytana’s grandmother. “I just want the public treat it as if it were their child or their grandchild.”

“Maybe you don’t necessarily know where they are today, but let’s say you saw them a couple days ago, maybe even a week ago, where was the last time you saw them and what time? Give us any kind of information. That would be very beneficial to the investigation,” said Sgt. Chris Kim, Honolulu CrimeStoppers Coordinator.

Rodrigues is a convicted felon with a long criminal history.

I am entirely confused. None of this makes any sense to me. So this child was already bruised when the mother took the child and dropped her off with her father? It also says the child was with other friends while the mother was in the hospital, then this friend noticed the child was bruised it sounds like.
and what was the mom in the hospital for?

something tells me these people have drug issues. Not a brain among anybody this poor wee one was around. :sigh:

So, this is absolutely sickening and confusing!

Katana was not taken to a hospital by her Mom when she had such horrific sounding injuries? And who caused these injuries?

Why in the %$#@ world would it take the mother TEN days to report her child missing?? If this was a first visit with this creep, ooops I mean her dad the court probably wouldn't have given a long visit. I cant imagine it would be more than 2 days at most but no missing persons report for this precious baby for 10 days?
I feel the same way and something is missing here. It sounds like the mom was in the hospital too while baby was elsewhere. I wonder why. I have thoughts but I hate to speculate too wildly and that's all it would be.

This case makes no sense at all. I can only wonder if she also was in an abusive relationship whether with him or someone else. Is this why she was with her mother, put the daughter first with friends and then with him the way it sounds? Or some such? The way this story is all going, she could have bruised the child, the friends she left her with could have, etc. Yet the father and I guess his friend they believe murdered her. Smh.

I wonder that too. I imagine the mother is young so even though it's possible, she was probably not in for health. To have another baby? Because of drugs? Or could she have been injured when her daughter was? Just thoughts and just speculation...

I remember reading one article early on that said she dropped off Kytana with him because "she was sick". With the hospitalization, possible COVID? But could really be anything...

This precious little girl has been on my mind all morning. She looks so happy in those pictures. What in the world happened these last few weeks? Who was "taking care of her" (but clearly not) while mom was in the hospital? Why would mom not immediately turn around and take her back to the hospital if she was really in that state?

So many questions, I agree. One thought I had is she could not take her to the hospital if she was worried about perhaps CPS involvement or if she would be looked at as neglectful or questioned? I guess Covid is possible but she is likely young and it is Hawaii but only a few things explain a hospitalization for any length of time so it sure could be--nowadays they kick you right back out after a day or two to heal or recover from just about anything at home in most places.

Reading between the lines, unless she was involved in some type of lifestyle herself, it appears she may have been limited on places to stay or live and people to help take care of the child. It mentions her moving back with her mother, two different friends or sets of friends she or she and the child were with, the hospital and then the dad taking the baby.

She does look like such a a beautiful, healthy happy child.

Father of missing toddler told police he shook girl until she was ‘lifeless,’ arranged to dispose of body

Newly-released court documents allege that the father of a toddler who has been missing for two weeks was high on methamphetamine while he brutally beat her and shook her until she appeared lifeless, then arranged to dispose of her body.

According to the court documents released Tuesday, a witness reported seeing the father, 40-year-old Travis Rodrigues, slapping, kicking and swearing at the toddler, 18-month-old Kytana Ancog.

The attack left the child bruised and bleeding, but Rodrigues allegedly told the witness that the blood was chocolate and that she had fallen in the shower.

Rodrigues told investigators that on Feb. 4, he hit and squeezed the girl until she was “appeared lifeless.” He believed she was dead but did not call police, the documents say.

Instead, he admitted to wrapping the child’s body in a bed sheet and placing it in a duffel.

He then met with another acquaintance, 48-year-old Scott M. Carter, who agreed to give Rodrigues a ride to an acquaintance’s house with the girl’s body still in the car, police said.

Rodrigues remained at the house, while Carter then drove off and said, “don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it.”

#%#$^$$%*(& Poor child placed in the hands of a monster and it sounds like suffered brutally. I don't have words for how enraged I am!

Also, why did this damn "witness" not call 911? Probably also using drugs. Ugh.

On February 13, a witness who was at Rodrigues’ home told investigators that she walked to Rodrigues’ bedroom and saw him slapping his daughter and cursing at her.

“Shut the f*** up! Get out here!” Rodrigues allegedly yelled at the toddler.

The witness said that Kytana appeared petrified and ran to her for help. The witness then asked Rodrigues what was going on but the suspect allegedly kicked the baby, causing her to fall to the ground.

“F*** that baby,” Rodrigues allegedly said, adding that he had her for “three f******* days already.”

The witness said Rodrigues then tried to give Kytana meth, claiming that she liked it.

The witness said she left the home but returned shortly after and noticed blood on the floor. Rodrigues said it was spilled chocolate, according to court documents. However, the witness said she saw Kytana with bruises and marks on her mouth and all over her body.

When investigators questioned Rodriques, he reportedly admitted that he hit, slapped, and cursed at the child while under the influence of meth. He added that he began “squeezing her against his chest,” until she became lifeless.

Rodrigues also admitted that he wasn’t sure if Kytana was deceased, but he wrapped her in a blanket and put her in a duffle bag. He never called 911.

These details are really hard to read. Both of these men deserve the key thrown away at MINIMUM. In addition, maybe she was under no obligation but the woman who saw the child slapped, kicked, etc. who the poor baby ran to for help terrified should have taken her WITH HER when she left and straight to the PD or something. It says a lot about whoever that is although at least because of her partly, they have a case. I don't know what the mother knew or whether she knew anything or had a choice but I would hope that is being looked at as well.

And WHY if they admitted to most everything, has it not been shared where this poor baby's body is? Let me guess, saving one bargaining chip. Disgusting pieces of excrement.

And fresh hickies on his neck. Ugh!

An awful lot of adults failed this child. :(
This is up there with one of the worst I have seen. Not that the murder of any child can be said to be better or worse as all are tragically unfair and horrid, words fail me, but it seems brutal and yes, as if many failed her and someone could have stopped this, more than one someone most likely.

and by this, I mean that somebody had the nerve to be close to him after the horror this child went through. :vomit:
Never noticed the hickeys and not sure I want to go back and look. Like this man needs to get amorous and create another child he will treat like this. I am so disgusted with this one. The part about her running to the woman for help at her young age just haunts me...
