LIBBY GERMAN & ABBY WILLIAMS: Indiana vs. Richard Allen for 2017 murder of two Delphi girls *GUILTY*

On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, United States, after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders have received significant media coverage because a photo and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls' murderer was found on German's smartphone. Despite the audio and video recordings of the suspect that have been circulated and the more than 26,000 tips that police have received, no arrest in the case has been made.[1][2][3]

Police have not publicly stated nor released details of how the girls were murdered.[6] As early as February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police began circulating a still image of an individual reportedly seen on the Monon High Bridge Trail near where the two friends were slain; the grainy photograph appearing to capture a Caucasian male, with hands in pockets, walking on the rail bridge, head down, toward the girls.[4] A few days later, the person in the photograph was named the prime suspect in the double-homicide.[5]

On February 22, law enforcement released an audio recording where the voice of the assailant,[7] though in some degree muffled, is heard to say, "Down the hill." It was at this news conference that officials credited the source of the audio and imagery to German's smartphone, and, further, regarded her as a hero for having had the uncanny foresight and fortitude to record the exchange in secret. Police indicated that additional evidence from the phone had been secured, but that they did not release it so as not to "compromise any future trial." By this time, the reward offered in the case was set at $41,000.[5]

Has this been done in other cases? Does anyone know the reasoning and what the significant risk and danger could be to the public and other persons? I understand the risk of damage to the investigation, but not the danger aspect.
As I read it, it is for one or another of the reasons detailed, not necessarily all of them.

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – Lawyers for Kegan Kline have requested a change of plea hearing in their client’s child pornography and child exploitation case.

In court documents filed Monday in Miami County, Kline’s counsel asked for his upcoming pretrial conference and jury trial to be lifted and a change of plea hearing scheduled.

Kline faces more than two dozen counts related to child pornography, child exploitation, identity deception and obstruction of justice. Earlier this month, prosecutors released a list of potential witnesses for the upcoming trial.

Kline hasn’t agreed to a plea deal with the state, as outlined in a response filed Monday afternoon by Deputy Prosecutor Courtney Alwine, who said the parties “have not negotiated a proposed resolution.”

“Any guilty plea would be without a plea agreement from the State, and the sentence would be determined entirely at this Court’s discretion,” Alwine wrote in her response to the defense’s motion. Alwine did not object to a change of plea hearing.

Alwine asked the court to convert the scheduled March 30 pretrial conference into a change of plea hearing so that the matter is not further delayed. The state additionally requested the court keep Kline’s jury trial on the schedule until a guilty plea is entered.

Hmmm. In all plea agreements, a defendant I believe is told even with a plea agreement a judge can refuse to accept it and sentence how he sees fit, etc. This tends to make me think there is an understanding that if this and if that, etc. but they won't make it an actual plea agreement for other reasons, maybe because he is an informant in another case...? I could word it better maybe later but something is up imo IF he plans on pleading guilty with "no deal"

On a simple level, we know defendants are often told we can't promise you anything or make a deal but if you do something right or the right thing, it is a good argument for a judge to go lighter on you...

I think we have more than that here but who knows...

And not making a "deal" makes it if he testified in something else where it can't be said he provided testimony in exchange for something for himself, i.e, a lighter sentence/deal.

Am I looking at this right? Thinking right?

What sick people exist in this world. Adults in sex acts with children 3 to 11. SICK as is KLINE who had them and looked at them at minimum.

There is something more to this. And he claims all girls basically he was in contact with sent him sexual pictures.

Did he also bribe or threaten with such I wonder?

One thing I recall is Libby had done a phone reset because of "issues" with her phone and it was allegedly a reason the app that allowed grandma to check on her wasn't there or something on that order.

I feel there is something here that does relate to Delphi.

But this guy is so twisted in his own right and deserves imo a life sentence regardless of how involved he was in Delphi (or not at all)...

He was in contact with Libby, and set a meeting, and that alone is pretty darned significant.

This entire thing for the last how many months and the arrest in the Delphi case and what is simultaneously going on with Kline's case to me says he is an informant or led to the arrest of Allen or some such. They are keeping all close to the vest but things are sealed and I think this is part of it. It just is uncanny all the coincidental timing of everything...

Maybe it’s the guilt.
I don’t think POWs are offered recreational time or tablet calls to their families.

His attorneys said Allen has been sleeping on a pad on a concrete floor in a 6 foot by 10 foot cell “no larger than that of a dog kennel,” according to the emergency motion. He often wears the same clothes for days and has been unable to visit his wife or other family members.

Allen makes calls to family members through a tablet, which is monitored by prison officials. He’s afforded “little, if any, recreation time outside of his cold, concrete and metal quarters,” according to the filing.

Allen’s attorneys described him as isolated and said they have to “travel for hours” to see their client. The conditions are harming Allen’s physical and mental health—and impairing his attorneys’ ability to mount their defense, they argued.

His attorneys argue that Allen is being treated “less favorably” than convicted criminals, many of whom are housed in less secure areas and are afforded services and contact visits with friends and family.

His attorneys believe he’s having trouble communicating and appears to be suffering from memory loss. To demonstrate their perceived decline in Allen’s condition, the motion included a pair of photos—one taken a year or two before his arrest and another taken on April 4, 2023. The April 4 photo showed Allen looking gaunt.

Looks like prison diet of not eating at absolutely any time you want to might be doing him some good???

I can only guess the truth lies somewhere in between. Not putting trust in any of this coming from defense BUT I would hope they aren't abusing or confining him in a way that is unacceptable if found, he isn't convicted BUT they want him safe so what is it they expect...? He isn't at the Ritz for goodness sake. As far as their traveling for hours give me a break. Use a dropbox etc....

So according to this article, it was HIS attorneys that wanted the delay on his bond hearing, but now they want to complain about his being in jail???

Allen’s lawyers filed a motion on Feb. 7 seeking a delay in their client’s bail hearing,

Read between the lines on this.

Twenty miles? Many people commute further than that to work each day. His attorneys can't? It isn't like they are talking a flight or an all day drive. How far do they drive to a courthouse if they handle cases in more than one county? Let's get real here.

Confidential and sensitive information? Isn't that true with any inmate with family and friends but attorney/client is privileged regardless. Does his wife, daughter or he need to tell each other something they know may be overheard? Uhm there's a reason for that...

It says other inmates with more get to live in less secure areas. Do they want him in a less secure area?

Read what it says re the pictures. The picture of "health" wasn't this month or even last month, but long ago. What he looks like now think about it. First of all they have a picture. From who? Does he have a tablet or a cell phone? Do they have access? How if they can't "go" there easily?

Who said how he looks has anything to do with how he is housed? Proof? Is he refusing to eat? Not the first prisoner to ever do so by a long shot. Is he guilt ridden. Sick to death at the fact he was caught? Playing people and doing a CON?

How big are cells in any prison or all in comparison to a dog kennel? You have a cot and a toilet pretty much right?

No he isn't convicted and I do agree on that one but he is there due to enough to charge and arrest and a probable cause and bond hearing where such can be brought up.
