'Baffling': Lina Sardar Khil disappeared without a trace two years ago. She's still missing.

Riaz Sardar Khil watches the news for any hint his 5-year-old daughter may have been found.

Each time there are stories of children rescued from sex trafficking, he sends a screenshot to Pamela Allen, CEO of Eagles Flight Advocacy, asking if Lina was among them.

"It's a valid question," Allen said. "We don't know. We don't know what happened to Lina."

Allen has been helping the Khil family through the tragedy. She said the two years have been a "vicious cycle," with no end in sight, especially for Lina's father.

"It's been a frustrating year," she said. "You can hear it in Riaz's voice, the anger and desperation."

Lina's father and the refugee community have been relentless in their search as well. They sifted through grassy areas that hundreds of people drive past on their way to and from the Medical Center area.

Community members and law enforcement even pulled together $250,000 for a valid tip that led them to Lina.

Still, nothing has been said officially about what may have happened to the brave Afghani girl who survived a suicide bomber as her family fled the turmoil that engulfed her home country.

Everything Riaz has done was to protect his family, he said, including their exodus from Afghanistan. But for refugees, the conflicts don't always stay in their home country.

Riaz was a member of the Afghan military who supported U.S. troops during the occupation of his home country as a bodyguard of sorts. While the U.S. has helped Riaz and many others in return with a new life here, refugees have not forgotten their role back home.

Allen said the family thinks this may have played a role in Lina's disappearance, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

To make matters worse, Khil's family and the people who support them have been under scrutiny by skeptics who have gone as far as to stalk them.

They have since left the apartment where they once lived as they were being harassed by people who blamed them for Lina's disappearance.

But the Khils remain in the area. Allen said the family is hopeful Lina may yet return.

Am I just tired and wiped (always) or is this a bit cryptic or just not clear? This part....

Riaz was a member of the Afghan military who supported U.S. troops during the occupation of his home country as a bodyguard of sorts. While the U.S. has helped Riaz and many others in return with a new life here, refugees have not forgotten their role back home

I fail to follow what they are getting at the way it is written.

The next sentence helps...

"Allen said the family thinks this may have played a role in Lina's disappearance, but there's no way of knowing for sure."
Yeah, I considered that one too but who and what is he talking of... The entire thing is vague. Cryptic. Or I am tired and just not seeing it. He supported us as a bodyguard of "sorts". While the US may have helped him and many others in return for their help, it then says the refugees have not forgotten THEIR role back home". Talking about him, other refugees, etc or what does this short burb mean? Do other refugees from his country hate him for helping the US or does it mean he thinks the US or some of its people hate him for being a sort of a body guard but not quite as he had a role back home and they haven't forgotten maybe he was not entirely trustworthy or they played both sides. I may be all wet but that entire short paragraph is entirely cryptic or BAD news and journalism. How does it relate to Lina and WHO and what "side" does it mean would have had it in for him?

To put it more clearly do they think someone from their own culture did it as they hate he helped the Americans or are they saying someone American did it because he wasn't a loyal bodyguard but just sort of one and "supposedly" helping us but was really not.

I am wiped so maybe I am missing what exactly is meant here and who they think did it or could have because of dad or that paragraph is
entirely unclear as to how they think this relates or WHO they think that indicates or even which country. I definitely am that tired so I could be missing it.
Plus I didn't read the link just the post but I think what they said there is as clear as mud.

It is unclear if he thinks we may be the problem or his former countrymen might be because he helped the Americans. It is a very odd paragraph.

But again i am wiped and tired.

And to go back to your response, the family thinks it may have played a role, well how? And by whom? One of his countrymen or one of ours, etc.? And for what reason?

Even the "sort of" bodyguard... Couldn't look like he was helping the Americans? Or Just kind of sort of... ?

Forgive me if I am missing it all with my tiredness but I don't think I am. Maybe I should have read the link, I will admit I didn't.

New search going on in this one. Based on tip. Saw a presser on guy answering questions re it but of course I saw it on YT but sure it is out there in some news somewhere. YT I watched showed the news feed so I know there is coverage. Just an FYI.

Praying they get answers in this one.

Tipster prompts search of area near where 3-year-old Lina Kihl went missing in 2021
A search underway Thursday morning in connection with the disappearance of 3-year-old Lina Kihl, who went missing in December 2021.
Police are out at the Villas Del Cabo apartment complex off Bluemel Road and Fredericksburg Road, where the 3-year-old went missing Dec. 20, 2021 from the complex's playground.

Officials said they received a tip early Thursday morning in connection with Lina's disappearance. That prompted investigators, K9 and CSI search teams to comb the area behind the apartment, which is close to where Lina disappeared.

No other information is available on the nature of the tip.

Investigators search wooded area in connection with missing girl Lina Khil, SAPD says

an Antonio police and FBI are investigating a scene related to the disappearance of Lina Khil on the Northwest Side.

Officer Ricardo Guzman, a public information officer with SAPD, told KSAT they received a tip early Thursday that said there could be evidence related to the girl’s disappearance behind an apartment complex.

Investigators were seen with shovels and dogs about a mile away from where Khil was seen more than two years ago.

Guzman said officers and FBI agents will remain at the scene for the next few hours “until we’re confident so that we realize this is a legitimate tip or not.”

“This tip that we received, we treat serious, just like any other tip. As we have over the last two years, we do our due diligence and follow up on every tip,” Guzman said.

He added that it’s possible officers are searching for a body but did not disclose any details about the tip they received.

Crime scene investigators were searching a wooded area near apartment complexes at Wurzbach and Bluemel roads. This particular area has been searched before, Guzman said, but it’s “possibly a new lead that we could follow up on.”

Several SAPD units as well as a mobile crime unit were also at the scene.

They didn't search this area when she first went missing?

So sorry lol. I read his and then saw yours that you pointed out the same that was the last paragraph of the post above he must have missed.

ANYHOW, new activity in it whether searched before or not, and new activity is good rather than none imo.

Homeless live out there and more responses were given in the interivew or presser or whatever it was in the Q and A with someone from LE. I saw it in a YT thing while Harmony's case was on break for lunch I think.

If they searched it before you'd think they would have found something. Don't regular search dogs follow a scent?

I don't know. The point was they searched it before, you asked, and that was what was said clearly they had. And I have no time to keep up. Psheesh dodo. i also dropped the news on the search.

Lina Sardar Khil case: Tip 'not credible' as police end search of wooded area on northwest side

San Antonio Police and the FBI have ended their latest two-day search for Lina Sardar Khil, who went missing more than two years ago, after concluding a newly received tip "was not credible."

The search was conducted in a well-known wooded area near a northwest-side apartment complex less than a mile from the Fredericksburg Road area where Lina went missing, bringing investigators, FBI agents, detection equipment and heavy machinery to the scene.

Police said they were acting on a new tip from someone in the community. The tip led them to the 4000 block of Gardendale Road.

Early Friday morning, some special equipment arrived that officials said was capable of detecting objects underground. Shovels also were brought to the scene.

Lina’s family and friends were at the location as well, anxiously waiting for any updates on progress from investigators. the young girl's father met with law enforcement a couple of days ago to address concerns about receiving regular communication regarding his daughter’s disappearance.

Pam Allen of Eagles Flight Advocacy & Outreach, who’s been advocating on behalf of Lina’s family over the past two years, still has many questions about the investigators' actions and communication throughout the case.

"All of a sudden there’s a tip, and all of a sudden we’re going to go search an area that they even said that they’ve been there themselves, myself and Lina’s father had been there, so it’s just curious as to why it’s this area again," she said.

Lina's family was informed the search was going to end and nothing was found.

This doesn't surprise me.

The tip from what I heard came from an inmate. Also LE and dad etc. had a sitdown where LE who it was said tells them little to nothing cleared the air/lack of communicationa nd so on. It is on news and from the woman and so forth that helps or advocates from them or some such. I saw it. I watch recaps, sorry, from YTers who bring all news aritlcles or shows into one program so I can keep up.

They brought in major resources, ground penetrating radar, digging equipment and spent a fair amount of time, If I have it correct (may not) two days.

Not sure what is true but I do guess a "member of the community" could be a jailed or prison inmate.

This is one case where I honestly do not know what I think happened. A lot of that is lack of info and the info that is known is not confirmed by LE.

I do know it is way too quiet of a case considering what happened or appeared to have happened.

And that I don't know, too much trust was put in to a child being safe in a place that has awful reviews (read them way back when started) and an area searched another time that has transients and more.

Again though i have no opinion. There is so little info. I have a few very unsolid thoughts. And I find the case unusually hushed.

Not going to go further than to say I don't know why they'd trust the area or place to lave a child alone for very long and that someone knew this or was aware of such. And it's rare for me but yes I am thinking not the parents. However, I haven't excepted that either. I'd like to know that mom was truly a bio mom. She likely is but I have seen so many cases where we find out later whether a dad or mom, is not the bio parent, but instead a gf, bf or second spouse. That's where my thoughts lie but I am not sold or even half sure of either.

Back when I read reviews on this apartment complex, in the beginning, there was one (man I would guess) that was really irate about children not being watched and allowed to run screaming and loud in the halllways and so on with no supervision. That review and anger sticks with me to this day and I believe it was not an old comment at the time either, a month maybe before tops. Don't recall, but not years before.

I could remark on what I see in my apt. complex but won't more than this bit. I would think you would worry more about your kids if in a country not well known to you. I mean no non PC thing by that and in fact so many here have reallly adapted and are friendly as am I and always have been but I see 2 year olds sent down hallways with garbage alone and I am not making that up. They can't even reach the chute and drop it on the floor. I have an inability to leave for work when I see it until I see them get back to where I am guessing their apt. is out of concern. And yes there are some born and raised here who would be naive, or do the same.

BUT to be in a foreign country with this place's reviews and homeless or transients camped out back and so on? Hard to understand leaving the child for a moment. Again, not accusing but difficult to understand. Young and naive or native and trusting your area and people where maybe your family and generations have lived forever is one thing, but based on all, I don't understand it here as that is not the case, I would think you'd be more worrried and more protective.

HOWEVER, I am not accusing and rarely think this but think it may well have been someone not family. Not sure but definitely think possible. I do think however that it wasn't random as in someone driving by and opportunistic. I think it was someone if so that knew full well kids weren't watched or had an eye on her or something on that order or lived in the complex or near it. Even homeless. out back/nearby. Or someone like the guy that wrote the review of the place going on about people not watching their kids.

Again I don't mean she wasn't watched or this was not a momentary need to go insiide without her and trusting all thought it would be fine. That though too is not clear to me in this case that that was truly the case.

Anyhow, supposedly the tip came from an inmate.

Father of missing girl Lina Khil demands new investigator, more transparency in search efforts

The family of missing Lina Khil remains frustrated after a two-day search in a greenway near her home turned up empty for San Antonio police and the FBI.

The search area was in the woods near Bluemel and Fredericksburg roads. Lina was last seen on the playground of her apartment complex on Dec. 20, 2021.

“We want to find her, but not this way,” said Riaz Khil, Lina’s father, through interpreter Banaras Asimi.

On Wednesday morning, Khil and a family advocate met with investigators to ask for more communication about how the case was going. They also requested that new investigators be put in charge of the case.

“SAPD and FBI — they’re just covering their back. They’re not working. They’re just wasting their time, and they’re just acting like they’re doing something. They’re not doing anything,” Khil said through Asimi.

The family says they were told that changing the investigators was not an option. KSAT emailed the FBI and SAPD specifically about this request.

Here’s what the FBI responded through a spokesperson:

“The FBI remains committed to working with our partners and doing everything we can to find Lina and bring justice to anyone who may have been involved in her disappearance. While we can’t discuss details of this case or our efforts publicly, our hearts are filled with compassion and sincere understanding toward Lina’s family as they have suffered unimaginable pain during the last two years.”

SAPD sent KSAT the following statement:

“After two days of following up on a potential lead received, SAPD and our partners have exhausted all resources and have determined that the tip was not credible. There are no further updates on this active missing person’s case. SAPD will continue to follow up thoroughly on every tip received, as we continue the search for Lina Khil.

“SAPD still encourages anyone with any information that might lead us to finding Lina Khil, to come forward and contact our Special Victim’s Unit at 210-207-2313.”

Family of Lina Sardar Khil observing another birthday as search for her continues

The family of Lina Sardar Khil is observing another birthday without her. She has now been missing for over two years.

The little girl vanished as a toddler back in 2021, and turns 6 years old on Tuesday. Lina’s birthday comes days after police launched a renewed search in her case. However, that tip proved to not be any good, and the search was halted.

Typically, the family holds an observance for her birthday at the complex where went missing from. However, a family spokesperson tells us they are not emotionally equipped for it this year.

So we are to believe neither SAPD nor the FBI are doing anything. Of course they may not be sharing anything even with the parents depending on who if anyone they've cleared or not cleared.

Most know we dealt with our own child tragedy (hate those words) but all of us can only imagine a child missing and we didn't have that. No one here has to my knowledge. And not found. And no answers. it has to be TERRIBLE. People from our own country rail who wouldn't, when time is of the essence and you expect all resources avaiilable until found and continuing 24/7 and we have seen that frustration even with parents of adults like Dylan Rounds and far many more. It's when you realize that the world isn't how some of us were brought up, that LE and agencies are not superheroes and they may have to go home when dark after several days of searching.

I imagine though and I'd be the same, to you, it is ALL that matters. And you want all efforts, all resources and it neverending and this was not their native country and it is hard for a parent in one of our own to deal with it and the grief and we've seen it time and again. I can only imagine I am sure I'd be the same. Every MOMENT counts until they are found.

There is though the possibility not much is shared when they are doing a lot due to they can't clear the parents or maybe someone the parents know and they are unsure of i the person parents know and what parents knew.

I certainly am not saying it is the case AND it could be these two agencies are doing nothing and have done nothing but I wouldn't count on that. There is a very real possibility no one has been cleared including the parents or one. Or not. Hard to say.

There is also in fairness a real possibility it is cold and tips and leads are and it is a dead end AND they are not proactively working it and who could handle that? I would not be able to. I know that much.

I never had a missing child, none of us did, but can only imagine the urgency and grief, but I don't think it means neither agency is working on it necessarily. Now could it be possible and the aren't trying proactively and care less? Yes it certainly is.

I guess I'm just saying it may be either here. But can undersand the dad's frustration.

We never hear from mom. Which is okay. Different culture and media and all.

I am going to say one thing that may not be agreed with or popular but we are thought elsewhere as such an evil and crime filled country. I am unsure why you'd be here in an apt. complex like that and trust that your child is okay left alone and I think still debatable if with any other children or watching by anyone. Can we all be naive and young and full of it to say that, we would never, sure, but you aren't in an area you grew up in, or even the same country, which is how most of us have trust to let our kids right their bike down the block, etc. and back or walk to grandma's two houses away or such.

In the event I am misunderstood, I am not accusing but am saying maybe LE cannot clear everyone close is another possibility.

However one of my leanings is someone in the complex knowing she was not watche dwell due to reviews I read on this complex. So I want to make it clear I am not leaning towards the parents.

It still remains odd as well that her age wasn't even known at the time this happened or was questioned to e correct.

I pray for her. And this well could be a random stranger, or someone close, or someone in the complex which I wouldn't call a total stranger, maybe unknown to family but knew the habits. Those are my thoughts.

Not much hope in this one but I do pray she is found and answers come.
