I missed this part until I just read it again... Same link I posted last...

"Police also reviewed neighboring surveillance video from the apartment complex but found no footage showing Maliyah leaving the complex, authorities said."

Same link. Just picking some relevant points...

Acevedo expressed doubt on whether the child could have fallen into the bayou near her home and floated to where the waterway leads into the Gulfgate neighborhood from Third Ward.

“That’s not going to be probable,” the chief continued.

Boyfriend had to be held back as ME went by with the body inside. Boyfriend said "we don't even live over here".. Not sure what he means by that. Where she was found I guess...

“We don’t even live over here,” Thompson cried, as Maliyah’s mother comforted him.

Thompson’s friend, Jamarcus Davis, said he believes someone took Maliyah and dumped her in the bayou.

“Someone had to bring her out here,” said Davis, who held Thompson back as a medical examiner vehicle drove by with the child’s body inside.

Community boiling with anger over fate of 2-year-old Maliyah Bass; Family meets with Houston activist Quanell X

A small, makeshift memorial of balloons, flowers and candles could be seen Monday outside the southwest Houston apartment where 2-year-old Maliyah Bass lived.

Anger boiled over at the Sunset Crossing Apartments off Beechnut Monday. Neighbors who live there were not happy to see Maliyah’s mother and boyfriend return to the property with Houston activist Quanell X. The crowd gathered outside of the apartment to express their frustration.

“That hurts me so bad because I feel like they were emotionless,” said Myocya Barnes, who helped search for Maliyah on Saturday. “They were emotionless while people out here and in this neighborhood are crying tears for to you — blood sweat and tears for you in the rain.”

Many of the neighbors said they went door-to-door Saturday morning looking for the missing 2-year-old who police say was left on the playground while her mother was inside the apartment cooking.

Quanell X met with Maliyah’s mother and boyfriend inside their apartment and said the couple’s story left him with a lot of questions.

“Who kidnapped the child? Was she ever kidnapped? We don’t know yet but it doesn’t pass the smell test,” he said. “No responsible parent would leave their child on the playground like that for 5 minutes knowing it’s a high crime area and shut the door behind them.”

Quanell X said he was concerned with the living conditions he saw inside. He said it was very rough conditions for a child. He said while he won’t represent the family, he plans to get to the truth. In 2019, Quanell X helped to bring 4-year-old Maleah Davis’ body from Arkansas back to Houston.

I don't want to jump the gun here but I do also think it's interesting they're not asking people to be safe with their children, keep an eye out for anyone suspicious, etc.

The video footage "not showing her leaving". The asking for camera footage "even before 9:30 am". The boyfriend who broke the little girl's toybox so she was carrying her toys around in a pillow case (where is the pillow case btw). From the very first moment they said they "haven't ruled out foul play and are interviewing the mother and father" when usually they say that they're exploring all options and the family is being cooperative. And now the "rough conditions" inside the home. :sigh:

"When I went over there, saw the apartment, talked with neighbors, learned a few things. I also learned that the day the baby went missing, they were here at this store, late late night and the baby was at home by herself," Quannell said.

After speaking with Maliyah Bass’s mom, Sahara Ervin and her boyfriend, Travion Thompson, Quannell X says he was shocked to learn the truth unravel about the 2-year-old girl.

"That’s a serious issue that the baby was not here with them late that night, before they made the 911 call that the baby had been abducted. More responsible parenting could have easily prevented this," Quannell said.

Stella said she and several other neighbors spent all Saturday helping search for Maliyah’s whereabouts. Stella says she's skeptical of Sahara's story.

"From 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., this girl sat here on these stairs saying my baby is gone, my baby is dead. And we’re out here looking for the baby.

"Too fishy because they keep switching stories. Come correct, tell us what you did to this little girl because you know what this sounds like, Maleah Davis. Last year, y’all remember," Stella continued.

This one is so deja vu almost. The other Maleah was Texas, Quannell got involved as did Equusearch, same here.

Both also started with the thing that the man was the father or at least stepdad... In neither case are they...

It strikes me odd that the step-grandma (which she is not) and the stepdad (which he is not) are the ones who have cried and spoken out but unless I missed it, the bio mom has not given any interview....

I get so mad at these child cases. Admittedly.

Can't believe this poor baby hasn't been identified yet.
Kind of getting Thaddeus Sran vibes here. LE just biding their time, waiting for the right moment, gathering evidence.

It rings those kind of bells doesn't it? There is still a case similar a month or so ago that still doesn't sit right with me because no answers really came but I don't want to accuse if not deserved. Another drowning and autistic... And a child...

ID seems to take longer these days for some reason...? This child was found pretty quickly too. his case though, they have said a lot more than normal. Seem sure of foul play and other injuries and have said that...

The body of Maliyah Bass was formally identified Sunday, a week after she went missing from a playground at her parents' apartment complex.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed what her family already knew, but a cause of death hasn't been determined.

"She loved baby shark. She loved pink. She loved Minnie Mouse," Rosalie Jimerson said. "She was just my everything. I hate that she's gone but I want justice for Maliyah."

Many Houstonian's hoped the body found would not be Maliyah's, however her grandmother, and now the medical examiner have confirmed it to be true.

I am glad I read this twice because I thought it said her mother at first, but I see it is her grandmother again commenting, so the mother still has not. Both short clips in the article are interesting as well. It does not sound as if people at the complex are buying the story and some are upset, if not all. They would likely know more than we do about the couple and the child. I could not catch what the woman said about a board and a door, etc., it sounded almost as if she could not see Maliyah being in the park or something because of some boarded door? The camera man did not really pan to where she pointed and I couldn't catch the words perfectly. If someone else, can get the gist, I'd appreciate knowing.

As far as confirmation, I guess we expected it to be her. I don't know that I've seen many cases like this where the Chief comes right out and says after her body was found that it is likely her and that it was foul play before official confirmation.

RIP Milaya. May justice be served.

Just guessing, but I think that Le has alot more Info than we do. Like gbear said, coming out so soon saying 'foul play ' means something . Waiting for an arrest now . Each of those cases is so heartbreaking, why don't let them be adopted? I know that's also not a guarantee, but at least the children's chance of survival would be better...those tragedies seem to happen so often 😥
