Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

All good questions! They'd been having "relationship problems" for about a year, but no idea if the roommate-like relationship was continuous for that long. The locked door thing threw me too. I'm also highly suspicious of the husband. Can't rule out her up and leaving, but I think it's a bit lower down on the list based on other circumstances (no contact with her family, the delay in reporting her gone, etc.

I think it was that she wasn't responding in a family group text message. She must have kept in extremely regular contact with her family for them to be worried enough to go over to the house after just a day (perhaps slightly longer) when she didn't respond. Either that or they had their own suspicions about things going on in the home.

It would be really interesting to SEE him speak. Have we seen him give an interview, or has it just been the phone interview? I keep thinking about the Chris Watts interview. His words were fine (at first). But his body language was SCREAMING.
That's a good point. He may sound normal and forthcoming while dancing antsy all over the place on the other end or not make eye contact if in person, etc.

Third search held for missing Chula Vista mother

It has now been over three weeks since anyone has heard from Maya (May) Millete, a Chula Vista mother of three.

On Saturday morning, her family hosted another search party at Mt. San Miguel Park.

Maya Millete's sister, Maricris Drouaillet, says she won't stop until she's reunited with her sister. Drouaillet spent Friday passing out missing person's fliers with Maya's picture on them.

Drouaillet says her family has felt a sense of relief about the search for her sister, but with every passing day, they are growing more worried.

On Wednesday, Drouaillet tells ABC 10News, she met with the Chula Vista Police chief and other detectives. She says they told her they are working around the clock to find Maya. Drouaillet explains feeling a sense of reassurance that the case was still actively being worked on.

Sadly, I can't say I am surprised. I doubt most of us are.

Family of missing Chula Vista mother pleads for answers

The family of a missing Chula Vista mom is pleading for answers nearly one month after she disappeared.

Police say there are still no suspects or persons of interest in Maya Millete’s disappearance. The mother of three was reported missing on Jan. 10 and her family is not giving up hope.

Human bones in East County appear unrelated to missing mom from Chula Vista

Human bones found Wednesday afternoon in Santee do not appear to be connected to the case of a missing mother from Chula Vista. The family of the missing woman, Maya Millete, had heard about the remains found by two hikers in Santee. Because the remains were skeletal, Millete's sister doubted the remains were those of the missing 39-year-old.

“It's bone. The body usually does not deteriorate that fast,” said the sister, Maricris Drouaillet. “It’s been four weeks and we really haven't heard that much.”

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was back on scene in Santee Thursday where the bones were found by two hikers near the 1000 block of Summit Avenue. Sheriff’s investigators confirmed to News 8, there are “no indications” the bones are related to the Millete case.

I wonder who else went missing in that area? Someone’s loved ones are finally getting answers. I hope!

Maya Millete: Chula Vista police, family plead for more help in finding missing mom

Chula Vista police, the city's mayor, and the family of May "Maya" Millete pleaded with the public for any information that leads to the mother of three's safe return.

At a Friday morning news conference at CVPD headquarters, Chief Roxana Kennedy reiterated her department’s efforts in finding Millete, who has been missing since early January.

“We understand the concerns for answers, everyone wants May home … Please do not assume that this is not a priority to our police department … We cannot share all our steps in our investigative process because we cannot compromise this investigation. As we all pray for May to return home safely, we can’t rule anything out,” Kennedy said.

Criminal Investigations Lt. Miriam Foxx added, “Our investigation is continuing and ongoing … We’re not releasing any information or details on the investigation to maintain the integrity of the investigation. Rest assured, we’re in contact with the family on a constant basis. The family is very much a part of this investigation. If it is determined that Maya is a victim of a crime, our investigation becomes even more important.”

'Their relationship was over': Missing mother-of-three was constantly arguing with her husband during family camping trip just days before she vanished, her sister says after he stopped cooperating with police and hired a lawyer

The California mother-of-three who has been missing for a month had been arguing with her husband during a family trip camping in the desert just days before her disappearance, according to the woman's sister and brother-in-law.

Maricris Drouaillet and her husband, Richard, said that Larry and Maya 'May' Millete had been arguing over a Jeep Wrangler that they had brought with them on a family camping trip to the Glamis Sand Dunes in California over the New Year holiday.

'For a year or two, it has been kind of rocky relationship,' she said of her sister's marriage with Larry. 'They even tried marriage counseling.'

'When we do have a get together they would be there arguing... and then another time, they would be close again. Like oh ok, they worked it out. So it had been like that for the last year.'

Richard added: 'They argued a lot and it was a little bit uncomfortable. It was weird because Larry was acting different. He wasn't acting like Larry. He was acting different... They were done. The relationship was done. You could just tell.'

Since retaining a lawyer, Larry has only let Maricris and members of her family see the three children once, this past Monday.

'Larry has not been, again, responding to our text messages or answering our phone calls,' Maricris said. 'So we got worried... Me and my sister-in-law went to go check on the kids Monday and to make sure that they were ok and that was a lot.'

Maricris shared that the pair mostly chatted with Larry's father and with the children, who acted 'distant.'

'It was awkward and it was weird,' she said. 'The kids they were very distant. They used to be excited to see us. Especially the young one, her four year old. He would be excited and give me a hug and come running to me to give me a hug. We were calling each other our bff.

'But this time they just kind of looked and didn't give me a hug.'

Missing California mother's family sends new message to husband: 'Come and help us find your wife'

"People are reaching out from all over the world who knew her, worked with her in the past, went to college with her," Richard Drouaille, Maya's brother-in-law, told Fox News Saturday. "She touched so many people and it's been shown through the support that we've gotten. It's been a blessing."

Maya's husband, Larry Millete, has not shown up at any of the recent rallies.

"We wish he was out here helping us. Come and help us find your wife," Drouaille said. "Unfortunately that's not happening."

Stark contrast to an old Disappeared episode that I was watching last night where the husband was still putting up flyers for his missing wife years after she went missing.

Family’s search for missing South Bay mom shifts miles away from San Diego

Six weeks after a Chula Vista mom went missing, her family’s search is shifting to the Glamis Sand Dunes, about 150 miles east of San Diego.

“We might have been given a little hint that she might have been out there the day she went missing on the seventh,” explained Richard Drouaillet, Maya Millete’s brother-in-law.

The last time Maya’s sister and brother-in-law saw her was at the Glamis San Dunes on New Year’s Eve, a week before her disappearance. They think it’s possible she’s there now.

“If she’s out there camping … we’ve been devastated and heartbroken,” said Maricris, Maya’s sister. “If she’s out there camping, I don’t know what I’ll do to her — but obviously we’ll give her a hug.”

But as time drags on, the family says they are preparing for the worse-case scenario. Big crowds are expected out at the sand dunes for President’s Day weekend and they’re hopeful some of those people may be curious and lend a hand in the search. They say they plan to search the area near the Sand Highway.

“It’s just a very secluded area,” Drouaillet said. “I hate to say it, but if you’re trying to hide evidence or whatever, it would probably be one of the better spots to hide something.”

I've been camping in Glamis before! They should be able to find her. It's very desolate and you can see for miles, except for the dips of the dunes. There was a canal out there when I was there, too. I got the worst sunburn of my life there and never went back!

I truly do not believe this mother has gone off for a "break" without saying anything to anyone. Even if she wanted away from her hubby I don't think she would want her children, sister and the rest of her family to worry. The time frame doesn't support that scenario either IMO, a break wouldn't be this long.
I'm pretty sure most people are thinking the same way that I am, the way I don't want to be thinking but that makes the most sense. Of course I'm just going by the information in the media and have no idea what evidence LE has.
This case is one of those I get caught up in and think about all the time. I hope and pray she is found soon.

I agree entirely. I feel her family knows it and LE knows it. Proof is probably another thing.

I pray they find her and get the person responsible. I too do not think she just left for this on her own.

Imperial County Sand Dunes Search yields no answers in missing mom case

It was another disappointing weekend of searching for the family of the missing mom of three from Chula Vista.

The family of Maya Millette spent the weekend searching the sand dunes in Glamis in Imperial County. They searched by helicopter and ATV but did not come up with any leads.

"It just felt like a little grain in the sand, the sand is huge, and you know, I felt like helpless," said Maya's sister, Maricris Drouaillet.

Hope fades for family of former Hawaii woman now missing for six weeks

Hope is fading for the family of a former Hawaii woman who has been missing in California for six weeks. The sister of May “Maya” Millete says each day gets harder with no trace of her.

Millete has three young children. Her sister said, what makes her disappearance even more heartbreaking is that she has not been able to contact and comfort the children because of Maya’s husband.

“He didn’t really want us to talk to the kids. He didn’t really want us to ask questions or anything like that,” said Maricris Drouiallet, Maya’s sister.

She was last seen at her home in Chula Vista on Thursday, Jan. 7. KHON2’s sister station there reports that Larry had been cooperating with police but has since hired a lawyer and stopped providing information.

“It kind of hurt us in a way because now he’s not cooperating at all and we felt that he’s not wanting to help us in the search of his wife,” said Maricris.

They have been getting a lot of help from volunteers who have organized search parties. A business also hired a private helicopter, but no clues were found.

There is some optimism that they find answers soon while their hopes fade of finding her alive — they say the FBI is now involved.

KHON2 tried to reach out to Maya’s husband but was unsuccessful.

I sure hope the FBI involvement results in answers. Guessing they think it is foul play if they are involved...

Hmmmmmm, gee I wonder why. Ha ha

I suspected he had something to do with this from the beginning. If you are totally innocent you would be doing absolutely everything in your power to find your wife and the mother of your children.
Lots of red flags and oddities. I agree with you, this is one that "smelled" from the start. I sure hope the children are safe.
