Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

Maya Millete search party targets trails near Spring Valley Swap Meet

Dozens of volunteers searched swampy trails near the Spring Valley Swap Meet Sunday for any sign of missing mom of three Maya Millete.

May “Maya” Millete has been missing for nearly seven weeks and the community is still pulling together to find her with new faces showing up at searches each weekend.

“We’re not going to leave any stone unturned,” Millete’s brother-in-law Richard Drouaillet said. “If there’s a possibility that she might be out here, let’s do it.”

Millete’s husband Larry has yet to attend any of the searches, mostly staying at home with their three kids. He hired an attorney earlier this month.

In a text to FOX 5 on Sunday, Larry said in-part he was, “just praying and still hoping for the best.”

I guess acting in ways one does not understand does not make one guilty. However, perhaps he and Barry Morphew should like compare notes... A key to your wife's room. You "heard" her in the house. Wow. Sounds so normal... [eyeroll] I pray these children are safe.

Is he hoping for Maya's best, or his own? Asking for a friend.

Private investigator takes on Maya Millete missing person case

He’s one of the most recognized names in private investigating, and he’s working for free to help find missing Chula Vista mom Maya Millete.

“I started getting involved when people started asking me why I wasn’t involved,” said Bill Garcia, a California-licensed private investigator who currently lives in Tahoe.

I said too in the West case he was a known PI, well known and I had heard of him and was happy to hear more help was going to be involved. Then once he was involved, something happened and I am a bit torn on what to believe... Or which side to believe, etc. That case had gone wild and not to necessarily the case's best interest imo with some and then he got involved and something happened.

Since I don't know what to think, I will just say what I do know that I saw for myself. I don't see why he had a need to publish publicly who he was going to talk to, where, etc. and some tip that he said (or the tipster claimed) was ignored on his sites/pages, etc. other than it gets him attention in a case that already HAD much attention publicly online. It seems kind of opposite of what a PI would be doing which is quite often not wanting it known who they are talking to, etc. or what they are looking at...

I am not saying I am correct, just that since there are two (and more) sides to what happened, it is the only thing I can go by and I am undecided about him...

Remains found during missing mom search determined to be animal bones

A search for missing Chula Vista mom May “Maya” Millete seemed hopeful Sunday as family found what they thought could be a new clue to her disappearance.

Maya’s sister, Maricris Drouaillet, found bones off a hiking trail near the Dehesa School District and the Sycuan Reservation during a search with the Armadillos Search and Rescue. The volunteer group usually focuses on finding migrants in rural parts of the county near the border. They’ve stepped up to help Millete’s family in their search.

San Diego County Sheriff’s homicide detectives quickly came out to investigate Drouaillet’s find. They confirmed the remains were animal bones.

The Search Continues for Chula Vista Mother Maya Millete

Chula Vista police say Millete's husband Larry is not a suspect, but that he is now refusing to help in either the investigation or the search.

California missing mother's family no longer has P.I. because police don't want case ‘jeopardized’

The family of Maya Millete, a Southern California woman who has been missing since early January, told Fox News on Tuesday they no longer have a private investigator because the city’s police department did not want the case jeopardized.

"We had (a P.I.) but it didn’t really work out because there was really no information that he could have brought forward because the Chula Vista Police Department was keeping everything hush-hush. For now, they don’t want to jeopardize anything," Richard Drouaillet, Millete’s brother-in-law, told Fox News.

"The police haven’t really told us anything. They haven’t really given us any details on anything that they found from the search warrant. Everything’s still under investigation and, unfortunately, they don’t want to leak anything out," Drouaillet said. "They don’t want to sabotage or risk anything."

Drouaillet said his family had hired a private investigator to get answers, but police felt that he would "jeopardize the investigation."

"He wanted to interview some of the neighbors but (the) police asked him not to. Which is really unfortunate. It would’ve helped a lot," Drouaillet said of the P.I.

The Chula Vista Police Department told Fox News there are no new updates in Millete's disappearance and that it is still being classified as a "missing persons" case.

A very tough spot for a family to be in. On one hand you want to not hinder an investigation but it is hard to trust when nothing can be shared with you by investigators either nor can they often share any progress. You feel time is of the essence and want movement and feel the more help the better but again are advised that is not always a good idea and just to trust and wait. So much has to be taken just at someone's word, investigators you probably never knew or met until such a thing happened in your life. Jmo. I feel for them is all.

Yeah... Many families and PI's have, on other cases, kind of done a "screw you, I'm doing what I want". Very big of the family to put their feelings aside for the time being and let LE do their work. I do have to say though, if it was my family, they'd have to do some pretty heavy work to convince me to hold off.

Exactly, so true. And I can honestly say on top of all that, all family members don't always agree. Some may trust the process and want to or do as advised and others will say and want to turn every stone over whether it takes volunteers, a PI, etc. and whether LE advises for or against it. As you know, a different kind of case but I can say it was one of the hardest parts and a very difficult thing to do and go through for us. You also can't rail, yell, etc. or vent except to each other when the stress builds and no answers come, because advised (not ordered but advised) to try to stay silent, etc. Families love each other but again don't always agree in such a tough situation. You worry if you do something or alternatively do nothing and just trust in LE and the process, that you are making the wrong choice and what if, what if, what if...

It probably depends on the case. If the law-enforcement knows that there’s foul play involved, having a private investigator isn’t going to help long down the road during a court case. The defense could twist the private investigator’s work into all kinds of things to help their client. However, if it’s a search and recover effort, I’m sure having a private investigator doesn’t matter.

News Now: Sunday marks 2 months since Chula Vista mom disappeared

Friends, family and community members plan to come together Sunday for a “March for May.” The prayer vigil is being held exactly two months after Chula Vista mom Maya Millete was last seen.

‘We can’t give up on her:’ Technology helps in search for missing Chula Vista mom

The search for missing Chula Vista mom May “Maya” Millete ramped up Sunday as more volunteers came out with technology that could help find answers about her disappearance.

Sunday’s search for Millete drew up to 150 volunteers who scoured Lower Otay Lakes on foot and by air and water.

“They’ve been scanning the lake since 6 in the morning today,” search organizer Liliana Burke said.

The search is the latest of many since Millete disappeared from her Chula Vista home without a trace more than two months ago. As her story spreads, more volunteers are stepping up. They put drones in the air Sunday to cover more ground. Boats equipped with technology scanned below the water.

“We also have the kayakers. They have underwater scanners and they also have magnetic instruments. So if there’s anything there, they will be able to pull about 400 pounds. It’s pretty amazing,” Burke said.

Volunteers continue to support the family’s mission to keep searching until Millete is found.

“Nothing is being left unturned,” Burke said.

“We probably talk throughout like 18 hours of the whole waking day,” Burke said. “It’s a nonstop thing. I mean, we all have our own lives, but at the same time, this is our life as well.”

The group of five calls themselves “Maya Millete’s Search Warriors.” They plan and organize search parties to take some weight off the family’s shoulders.

“It’s just been like this little nucleus of a tight bond of helping each other and helping the family,” Burke said.

Search for missing Chula Vista mother now nearing three months

Maya Millete, a Chula Vista mother of three, has now been missing for 11 weeks. Her family continues searching for answers.

Thursday was Millete's mother's birthday, something her family says she'd never miss. It marked the 11th week since anyone has heard from her.

The Chula Vista police confirmed they are still investigating the case but had no new updates Thursday afternoon. Previously, the department has said they have no leads or any signs of foul play.

Maya Millete Update: Missing mom-of-3 scheduled appointment with divorce lawyer the day she disappeared, sister says

The family of a missing California mother is desperate for answers as the four-month mark of her disappearance nears.

Fox 5 reports that Maya’s sister, Maricris Drouaillet, said that Maya had scheduled an appointment to meet with a divorce attorney on the same day she disappeared.

“The date, the scheduled date to meet with the divorce lawyer, that was done Thursday afternoon,” Maricris said. “According to the divorce lawyer, she wanted to have the birthday celebration first, her daughter’s birthday celebration was on Sunday, so she wanted to wait.”

Frustration mounts over lack of answers in Chula Vista mom’s disappearance

Maya “May” Millete’s family members say they’re frustrated about the lack of answers about her disappearance nearly three months after the mom of three was last seen.

The community continues to search for Maya while they desperately await information from the Chula Vista Police Department.

“It doesn’t add up. They have camera surveillance from all the neighbors,” Richard Drouaillet said. “They said they have over 100 hours to review, and three months later, you’re still looking at those 100 hours — reviewing those videos. Something’s got to give.”

Maricris and Richard Drouaillet, Maya’s sister and brother-in-law, have been at nearly every search since Maya disappeared in January. Maya’s husband Larry has not.

Maricris told FOX 5 that Maya made an appointment with a lawyer to begin the divorce process the same day she went missing, and that Maya asked her for $10,000 that same week.

“I immediately noticed the windows all open, the fans on full blast. It was chilly in the house,” Little said. “I was mostly, at that point, seeing if I could smell anything, smell any bleach, or smell the smell of a dead body. And, of course, there was absolutely no smell.”

The mother of three reportedly had argued with her husband on Thursday, January 7. She spoke with friends in a video call around 5:30 p.m. and that was the last time anyone has heard from her.
“When I went to the bedroom, I immediately noticed a hole – probably 10 inches long by about 6 to 8 inches tall – rectangular shaped; that had been freshly repaired. It was right by the handle. There was a lock on the inside of the door,” recalled Little.

“Let’s say the door is locked and you wanted to break in the door or get through the door. You could punch through that hole, reach through the other side, and unlock the door from the other side,” he said.

Inside the garage, Little said he discovered a freezer was missing.

A member of Maya's family, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Fox News exclusively about a disturbing statement she dropped on her loved ones during that vacation, warning, "If anything happened to me, it would be Larry."
