Search continues for missing and endangered 5-year-old in Fruitland, Idaho

Michael Vaughn was last seen near SW 9th Street and S. Arizona Ave. in Fruitland on Tuesday evening. Crews and neighbors were out all day looking for the boy.

The search for a missing 5-year-old-year-old boy intensified Wednesday as it entered its second day.

Michael Vaughn was last seen near SW 9th Street and S. Arizona Avenue in Fruitland around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Fruitland Police Department said Michael is considered missing and endangered.

Michael is about three feet, seven-inches tall and weighs 50 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He answers to the nickname "Monkey."

Michael was wearing a light blue shirt with a Minecraft picture on it, dark blue boxer briefs and sandals.

Idaho Mountain Rescue brought in highly-trained and rescue personnel to assist in the search.

Crews from multiple agencies searched the area near Michael's home by ground and air by drone and helicopter. They also went door to door, talking with neighbors.

Right next to the boy's home is a field where crews spent much of the day searching for him.

Neighbors say they learned about his disappearance about an hour after he was reported missing. They say Michael is a happy kid who lives with his parents and grandfather.

Cynthia Walker was walking her dog as the search was happening.

"At five years old, I don't know that he would wander too far without one us seeing him by now," she said. "There are volunteers, many, many volunteers out searching, scanning the fields and we just want to have Michael back, we just want him home safe."

It's true. I'm responsible for what I do. I know my diagnosis' And it's my responsibility to seek treatment. Medications and otherwise to deal with them.
We don't know what her diagnosis is though or at this point (pending presser) if they even found this child's body. It seems awfully harsh to proclaim mentally unstable persons need to be locked up.

I think she's saying being mentally ill isn't an excuse for getting away with murder. That's how I interpreted it.

Well if they are that unstable they do. Either they need to be hospitalized or put in prison. The problem with hospitalization is they can be deemed ready to rejoin society and they are not. I'm not saying alot of early parole hasn't happened with disastrous results. It has countless times.

Press conference announced by Fruitland PD on the Michael Vaughan case
Fruitland Police have announced a press conference for this Thursday, December, 1st, with an update on the Michael Vaughan case.

Ickedmel will have it live too today and Grizzly True Crime I believe as well. Most I think know who these YTers are and have listened to some of their videos. From now on, I am going to call his channel Imel (so as not to confuse him with our @Mel70 ) lol and not have to try to type out his uppercase and lowercase letters of his channel name lol. I'll just call hers Grizzly's. I am really hopeful LE has something as this is somewhat similar to what they did in Quinton's case, found something but waited to tell us. Longer time period in this one though...

Human Remains Detection Dogs - MULTIPLE dogs all alerted to scent of human remains
"Anomalies" detected in back yard
250 yards of dirt removed and sifted - remains NOT found
They still believe Michael was abducted and is deceased, but his remains were later moved

Search of residence was "productive" - Additional evidence recovered and being processed

These people involved in abduction of Michael:
Sarah Wondra - first hand knowledge and was involved in the abduction
Stacey Wondra - first hand knowledge and was involved in the abduction

Brandon Shirtliff(?) - living with Sarah and Stacey at the time - first hand knowledge of abduction - believed to be in ND (*Looks an AWFUL lot like the unidentified male image that has been widely circulated - MY OPINION - Will post picture later)
Adrian Lucian(?) - staying with Sarah and Stacey at the time - first hand knowledge - believed to be in Toledo OH

QUESTIONS:
(Can't really hear some questions)

"It is my believe that she will remain in custody"
What led you to the home - Don't want to get into details but tip was credible and came from one of the occupants of the home
We are currently aware of a lot. Trust us and trust the investigation. We're making tremendous progress and are comfortable with where we're at.
Neighbor's yard? - We'll be deploying ground penetrating radar in the neighbors yard tomorrow. Has not been done yet.
Any other warrants other than the neighbors yard? - Not at this time. No warrant for search tomorrow, it is consensual. We will be searching other locations in the future.
Spellings for other suspects - Shurtliff / Lucienne
If those suspects come forward would they face charges? Not getting into investigation but my belief that charges are forthcoming

So cops have named Shurtliff and the other one as suspects with knowledge but have no warrant nor have arrested them yet? And one has talked on YT? So they are not missing...?

I wonder if one is the informant...

Searching the neighbors yard today in a non-warrant consensual search.

Fruitland Police to search for remains of Michael Vaughan Friday
Fruitland Police will continue looking for the remains of Michael Vaughan on Friday.

They will be using ground-penetrating radar to search a neighboring home to where Sarah and Stacey Wandra have lived- 1102 Redwing Street.

Contact made with men wanted for questioning in Michael Vaughan case, neighbor's yard yields no results

Fruitland Police Department (FPD) used ground penetrating radar and human remains dogs in a neighboring yard to the house that was previously searched in order to find Michael Vaughan's remains.

Additionally, contact has been made with two men wanted for questioning in the disappearance of the now 6-year-old boy.

According to a press release Thursday, no additional evidence was found and there is no indication to police that Vaughan was in any other neighboring yards "other than 1102 Redwing St." The search was voluntary, the release said.

This step was in order to eliminate as many possibilities as police can in their investigation.

“We remain confident that the evidence shows that Michael’s remains had been moved and the investigation continues as we follow all leads,” Fruitland Police Chief JD Huff said in the release.

Brandon Shurtliff, 30, of Kuna, ID and Adrien Lucienne, 32, of Toledo, Ohio, were both named in a previous press conference as possibly knowing what happened to Vaughan and where his remains could be located, along with Sarah Wondra and her partner, Stacey Wondra.

Shurtliff is believed to be residing in North Dakota. He currently has a warrant for a out of Canyon County, but it is non-extraditable, meaning police cannot bring him back from North Dakota on that warrant. Lucienne is believed to be in Ohio.

The release said that contact was made with both Shurtliff and Lucienne, and that police thank those in the community for helping to provide information on their whereabouts. Police can not provide any other additional information at this time on the contact with other agencies from other states.
