Fake cop played role in missing 6-year-old boy's disappearance from SW Houston, grandmother says

Samuel was in the care of a relative of his father's fiancée when his mother, who doesn't have custody, appeared with someone claiming to be a police officer and demanded to take the boy, Tanya Olson said.

"We found out the police officer wasn't real," Olson told ABC13.

Olson turned 6-years-old today, his grandmother said.

Samuel Olson was last seen around 7:30 a.m. Thursday leaving the 8800 block of McAvoy Drive with an “unknown male,” according to Texas EquuSearch, which is working with HPD to find Samuel.

Monday’s search was in a field behind Gateway at Ellington Apartment Complex, at the intersection of Dixie Farm Road and Gulf Breeze Drive.

Investigators did not say specify the location’s significance in the investigation, but detectives from HPD were seen on the property of the apartment complex handing out bulletins to residents in hopes of generating clues.

"I've worked many, many of these cases. I don't have a good feeling," said Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller. "Nobody can find out anybody that's credible that can tell us the last time he was seen and where."

It's definitely not a good sign that EquuSearch has been involved from the get-go and no AMBER Alert was issued.
Dad says mom showed up with a "fake cop" to take him from his (dad's) fiancé. Mom says she has no idea where her son is. Now EquuSearch says nobody can pinpoint when he was last seen? And police will not confirm that he was taken by an unknown male. This almost sounds like Amari's case in Vegas.
They don't typically search fields in a family abduction case...

Houston police detectives and members of the forensic crime scene unit are executing a search warrant at an apartment where 6-year-old Samuel Olson was staying for some period of time over the last few weeks. They are looking for any clues that would lead them to the whereabouts of the missing child.

At the same time, detectives are now saying that little Samuel may have been missing as far back as April 30, which is more than a month ago. Police said that the last verifiable place Samuel was seen was at his elementary school on April 30.

Olson’s father, Dalton Olson, and his girlfriend, Theresa Balboa, claimed the boy was last seen last Thursday in southwest Houston. That’s when Balboa says Samuel’s mother and a man dressed like a police officer came to her apartment and took the child.

Dalton Olson, Samuel’s father, visited the search site Monday with his girlfriend. She was the last person to see the boy, he said.

“I feel like I’m having a bad dream that I can’t wake up from,” Olson said. “We stuck to our routine. I mean. It’s just very overwhelming and it’s hard.”

Within walking distance from that area, Houston police were searching the Gateway at Ellington apartment complex after they said they received reports that it was the last known location Samuel was seen.

The apartment complex is being rented by an acquaintance of Samuel's dad's girlfriend.

So it's possible no one saw him since April and yet the mother just happened to know her son was at the house of a relative of his father's fiance? And showed up at 7:30 with a "cop"...? And the child was dressed... I would think if false this could be probably pretty easily disproved with an alibi, video surveillance, etc.

I don't see why a relative of the fiance would join in any lie or harm the child but who knows... Parents or others have often covered up for their own.

Then again, I guess the mother could have taken him along with the fake cop but he was in the father's care (but with someone else allegedly) when he disappeared and one of them would have had to call it in...

It does sound like Amari's case...

Father's girlfriend was watching him when she 'claims' the child's Mother showed up but can't describe the officer or details of that interaction. Interesting that there is a final court date for the child's parents divorce June 26th per public court records.

I have a very bad feeling too. I'm very curious how he targeted this boy.

This just keeps getting worse and worse. :( Certainly school didn't end as early as April 30? And if he's been gone that long, certainly this is not all on the father's girlfriend/fiance. He would have to know more.

That's suspicious obviously. She definitely is suspect. That would make much more sense.

No. Even in the south where school ends earlier because they have an earlier start it's middle to the end of May.

I'm not surprised. Even without knowing about the divorce or the lack of description of the "officer" one can see this leaning that direction.

Smh, the same dumb stories are tried by one after another. Yet another one that it appears was reported missing long after he went "missing". Blaming the other parent/side of the family, we see that a lot.

Police said Samuel's parents have joint custody, and at this time, they have no idea if they're dealing with a child custody issue or if they're getting accurate information from people who have a connection to Samuel.
But no one seems to know where he is and where he could be.
"We are trying to move with as much urgency as we can," Larry Saddlewhite, with HPD, said. "We're still not where we need to be in terms of locating him."
