Pregnant San Antonio teen missing after failing to show up at the hospital

A pregnant San Antonio 18-year-old girl has been reported missing after her mother says she was scheduled to be induced and failed to show up on Saturday, December 23. A news report by KENS 5 said she was a week past her due date when she was scheduled to be induced.

Gloria Cordova said that she last heard from her daughter Savanah Nicole Soto on Friday, December 22, and is worried about her safety. Cordova said she could not find her daughter at her apartment prior to the scheduled appointment, and reported her daughter missing to the Leon Valley Police Department at the hospital after she never showed up. She said that "something seemed off."

She told KENS 5 that Soto's phone was dead and police could not get ahold of her boyfriend. Cordova identified Soto's boyfriend as Mathew Guerra to MySA. MySA reached out to police to confirm whether a missing persons report has been filed for Guerra.

“Savanah was so, so happy because she was going to be a mommy, it breaks my heart,” Cordova said.

Cordova said her daughter was ready to be a mom. She had the nursey done and had planned on giving birth with her mother in the delivery room.

However, by Saturday afternoon, Cordova could not reach her daughter. She decided to check on her at her apartment.

“I went by there and knocked and knocked and knocked and she wasn’t answering,” Cordova said.

She said she was not home and her phone appeared dead.

“We got to the hospital, they said she wasn’t there,” Cordova said.

She filed a police report with Leon Valley Police. She said something seemed off and they could not get a hold of her boyfriend, either.

“We don’t even know what happened, they said it could be anything,” Cordova said.

This comes at time when Cordova is still grieving the loss of another child.

“It’s hard, it’s like one after another,” Cordova said.

Last year, she said her 15-year-old son was killed. Now, on Christmas Eve, she has no idea where her 18-year-old daughter is.

“It still hurts because what I tell my kids, I’m not complete, I’m not complete and now I don’t have my daughter,” She said.

She is urging anyone with any information to come forward.

"Please come home, no one's going to judge you, no one is going to say nothing," Cordova said. "I just want you to be home."

The guy who gets out of that truck is noticeably overweight.

Most are talking that it is clear there are three people not two.

Even though it is getting a ton of interest, the families and those knowing them need to stop with the SM in my opinion and the GoFundMes well I'd suggest the same.

It seems to me from the start that one family and those claiming to know or be associated are trying to direct things or point in directions or away from directions...

I don't know. Grief and murder can cause a lot of need to lash out, find a vent, a target, a direction but they need to control that imo if they want justice.

I doubt it is a convoluted mess for LE but it is for the public with all the crazy sh*t they have thrown out there AND LE is dealing with the constant calls about the stuff put out as to perps there seems to be no real basis for and just people that should care about the victims milking for attention.

This is tragic and they are victims but it seems clear that lifestyle choices and activities may well relate to what happened. We have posts with a stack/stacks of cash, pics of hard core drugs. Bling. We have domestic assault and a young girl going back to it and having his baby. We have his dad making excuses for that abuse or minimizing it and the drug dealing. We have someone who found the car other than LE and called family before LE and more. This whole thing is f'ing nuts and it is just feeding the vultures out thee. Although one can see why the vultures are going the route they are.

We have his cousin in a bathrobe on Tik Tok trying to appear tearful and upset while going on about his waist down nude body and how they were both shot behind the ear. NOT true about the shots per LE.

We have a MOSTLY silent LE wihle family seems to know all.

Crazy pants.

And despite a lot of attempts to point to people responsible and in certain directions, we don't know who is responsible. Lay your children and grandchild to rest with some dignity. It does not have to be a $20K full blown funeral with public attending, why would you even want that? I fail to understand. It is tragic. They were young adult kids making not the best choices, and they were murdered. This isn't some celebrity or head of state where even though unnecessary too there is a need for the full blown public attention thing and again why would you want that?

His family is worse than hers from what I've seen and wisely quieter as to details but not at first they weren't but still, STOP. I know full well the urge to go tell the world what happened and blame the right person/people but that isn't what is going on here.

WE don't know who did this, I am guessing LE does or has a pretty good idea and maybe family does, who knows. BUT one family at least is trying to cover things, they are infighting, and pointing imo or people connected to them are.

So his dad had an insurance policy on his adult son.... So he said at first. But now it is not enough for a funeral will take a week or two and stepmom does a GFM and also claims urgency of need to lay him to rest. Okayyy.... His bio mom also has a GFM and stepmom claims they raised him, she hardly was involved and they will bury him, pay for it and then later said provide all receipts to donators and io mom is only getting money for self. And then I think there is also a brother doing a separate one. Anyhow there are like five in total. I think only one from Savannah's side. And her side is well on their way to the $20K for baby and her funerals. Little has been donated to his side's multiple ones and I can see more than a few reasons for that, no time to say the obvious.

His family talked something of a vigil and some reason they couldn't as he side did. On top of all else, it seems like a defense and a competition or something , its all so WEIRD. First his side could pay for his funeral, dad had insurance on him. Savannah's GFM from her family goes up for $20Kand then they do one for SAME amount and claim ins. wont' cover or pay right away, etc.

I could sidestrack on EVERY single point in here with other points but have to work and soon will be behind schedule to get ready.

This is heartbreaking and I feel for the families but I fail to understand what they are doing. If bio mom is bad and they can't work with her or come together, well then why are you doing what she is with a GFM of your own and saying you aren't in it for the money for self but she is. Just step back and let her look tacky. Instead you are talking of it and arguing it for all the world to see as to how bad she is and how you aren't. My God. And you can afford to carry life ins. on an ADULT son but can't finance a funeral.

I don't like talking this way of victims or their families but there are lifestyles here and choices, and we all make wrong ones, that may well play in.

And I know both families are truly grieving BUT IF they want justice, uhm they need to get it together and shut cousins and others up around them too. This is a convoluted rumor filled nut fest and I think the priorities are wrong at minimum.

I wouldn't think this but for all the behavior and misdirect and possibly cover up but it all makes me more suspicious. You now the apple sometimes does fall far from the tree but far more often it does not...

Did I mention her family members are in prison (or a least one brother is) for attacking the perp in the courtroom who killed their other brother?

I don't know what my overall point is other than I know how hard it is but they aren't even TRYING to do as i am sure advised or wise for justice. They have fueled a rumor mill and spread false supposed "facts".

Only had time to catch a few minutes and won't get more until later but here's one for anyone interested.

I will go down for the count before I can look at this much most likely but on first glance the sole killer was 19 year old with no former criminal history?? And dad helped take care of the bodies, Dad had some prior criminal history, etc...Drug deal gone wrong apparently. No real surprise there.

Anyhow letting others know as there is breaking news on it on many channels but I am past bedtime. Maybe others if up can add more.

I managed before totally falling asleep to read a few articles last night and watch part of a live and then this morning caught a live on it.

A lot of the info came from her phone which they did recover.

Son has no record and father doesn't have much of one so wow.

Who knows maybe son has a juvenile record but even so he would have never been arrested through the age of 18 to 19. So what, he just plans to meet someone for drugs and plans and intends to kill them point blank and steal from them? Why then call dad to help cover up if it was intentional and planned? Pretty point blank execution style for someone never in any trouble before.

It's just strange and still a bit hard to wrap my mind around. I mean I do believe they have the perps but how did one overpower two in the drug game with a history of it who I'd think would be packing and wary when meeting a 'client" as well and watching out for their own backs? And someone who apparently has never been in trouble before pulled this off...

I'm sure they do likely have the right guys, I am just wondering if he was on his own during the commission of the murders... Cops say they expect no further arrests. Why? There was another person in the truck. And how are they sure dad or no one else was not part of the actual murders. So this "kid" controlled two who have been in the trade for awhile and one would think would be prepared and ready for danger...

Glad the perps are caught though. Tragic all the way around. Still uncanny this was just before she was to deliver. Also who would have expected her phone to yield the clues. I wonder if ever before there were any connections here or previous buys.

They are victims without a doubt. I don't think though anything should be minimized as to choice of lifestyle and hopefully some seeing this story will decide not to go that route if they are thinking about it. I think we all (our country) are getting enured and even numb to drugs and murder as well. What they were doing though was a very bad choice. And they were selling drugs, not just pot, and spreading it in communities and on our streets. The poor innocent baby would have been in the same dangerous lifestyle. Punching into a routine grind of a job may not be glamorous or bring bling but neither is dealing drugs and plastering the fact and piles of cash on SM glamorous but sad they apparently thought so. Not sure how you even rent an apartment with no credit history and nothing but cash from dealing drugs. And for all the baby showers, bling, piles of cash, he drove a car as old as mine. I guess though you can't get a vehicle loan though either. I'm just saying it is a dangerous lifestyle and not all they tried to portray it as. Every one of them under 30 including the perp and the perp and Savanah especially young, Matthew was older and yet neither got out of it with a baby on the way.

I only say those things for anyone who would ever read who might be in or considering such a lifestyle. Don't do it.

There is still something odd here imo. I wouldn't have expected her to be the contact person or did her phone just provide locations, etc.? The perp has no record and ye decided to do a drug heist and his likely first execution of two people? The way the bodies were, the car seat if it was one seems personal. I don't know.

I do believe they have the right people but what about the third? And what really was this... Maybe like many cases, it just won't make sense to me ever but I have questions still. May the two and their baby RIP. And may the perp explain it all.

I don't know if they have proof dad was only involved after the fact but I still find it a bit hard to believe this 19 year old took two drug dealers out with no fight all on his own in a planned and cold manner and then panicked and called daddy for help. Something just doesn't gel there for me.

This case has a warrant of arrest that is out there that I of course saw read on a YT video. I tried to find it by googling newsprint sources and no luck. It says what both perps said on arrest or after, etc. I wanted to link it here for everyone rather than a YT video with a minute mark of where they talk of it but am probably going to have to but if anyone has the actual doc or has seen it or is good at finding such, that would be better. Actual legal docs are better in print imo. The YT video I watched has the actual one on screen and read to all but it isn't the same as having the simple doc on its own posted here.

READ AFFIDAVIT: Details emerge of how father-son duo allegedly killed, hid bodies of Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra

A father and son were arrested Wednesday in connection with the deaths of Savanah Soto and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, late last month, according to San Antonio police. Authorities said they are the sole suspects in the case.

Christopher Preciado, 19, has been charged with capital murder. His father, Ramon Preciado, 53, was charged with abuse of a corpse in the case.

San Antonio police said they collected a cellphone as a critical piece of evidence when they discovered Soto and Guerra’s bodies in a Northwest Side apartment complex parking lot on Dec. 26.

Christopher Preciado, 19, has been charged with capital murder, abuse of corpse and alter/destroy/conceal human corpse. His father, Ramon Preciado, 53, was charged with abuse of a corpse and alter/destroy/conceal human corpse.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Guerra had gone to Preciado’s home to sell him marijuana on the night of Dec. 21.

Christopher Preciado said that Guerra pointed a gun at him when Preciado “manipulated the weapon,” resulting in Soto being shot, the affidavit said.

Moments later, Guerra once again pointed the gun at Christopher Preciado, who told detectives that he “manipulated the weapon again,” resulting in Guerra being shot, the affidavit said.

The medical examiner had previously reported that Guerra died from a “contact gunshot wound to the head.”

Christopher Preciado is the alleged sole killer in the case, according to police. SAPD said his father helped hide the bodies.

According to the affidavit, Christopher Preciado drove Guerra’s vehicle to the apartment complex down the street on Danny Kaye Drive, where the bodies were discovered five days later.

Ramon Preciado admitted to detectives that he drove the pickup to the apartment complex to meet his son, which was seen on surveillance footage released by police.

Ramon Preciado also identified himself on surveillance video as the person getting out of the pickup and “knowingly treated the human corpse(s).”

San Antonio police said the critical piece of evidence that led them to the suspects was one of the victim’s cell phones in the vehicle when they discovered Soto and Guerra’s bodies

The phone had recently searched the suspect’s address on Google Maps, where investigators spotted the Chevrolet pickup truck seen in a surveillance video police had shared on Dec. 28.

Officers conducted surveillance at a home on Charlie Chan Drive, where they believed the suspect vehicle was located. The home was located about two blocks away from where the bodies were discovered, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. The drive is less than a mile away, according to Google maps,

Police knocked on the door and Ramon Preciado answered and said he knew why police were there, according to SAPD.

The father and son were then taken into custody and questioned downtown at police headquarters.

SAPD said a judge signed a warrant for the arrests based on the information provided during questioning.

According to the affidavit, the families of the victims told police that Guerra sold drugs on his cell phone and social media. Guerra posted pictures of money and narcotics on Instagram. The affidavit stated that “people wanted to rob (Guerra)” and that “he had been shot at before.”

SAPD said the department would be working with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office to determine any further charges since Soto was pregnant and about to give birth at the time of her death.

The unborn child was named Fabian, according to the affidavit.

Police say Christopher Preciado has no previous criminal history, and his father had some criminal history.

Ramon Preciado’s bond is set at $600,000, while Christopher Preciado’s bond has been set at $2 million.

Thanks, The affidavit gives detail.

There was also another presser yesterday regarding having the murder weapon, confirmation that both victims were involved in the selling of drugs, LE questioned about why the third person in the truck was not a suspect or being looked at, a question of whether the suspect's mother was questioned, and more. As always, I have to go to one source to see discussion and coverage of press conferences and documents all in one spot for the sake of time, and so I don't have just the press conference alone and no time to look, I am headed out to work. But the presser is in this YT video otherwise.

Oh and it was also about more charges having been filed, charges to come, the DP and more.

Savanah Soto update: New charges for father, son suspects

A Texas father and son arrested in the killings of an 18-year-old pregnant woman and her boyfriend are facing new evidence tampering charges, authorities said Friday as they announced that investigators have recovered the gun used to shoot the couple who disappeared before Christmas.

The new charges in the killings of Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, were announced two days after the father and son were interviewed by detectives and "made enough statements to implicate them in the murder," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said at a news conference. He’d earlier described the scene where the couple were found dead in a car as "very, very perplexing."

Christopher Preciado, 19, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of capital murder and his 53-year-old father, Ramon Preciado, was accused of helping to move the bodies and charged with abuse of a corpse. On Thursday, police added charges of altering, destroying or concealing evidence against both men and also charged the younger Preciado with abuse of a corpse.

McManus did not provide details on what led to the new charges, citing a concern with hindering the ongoing investigation. He said detectives searched the Preciados’ home and found a gun "believed to be the murder weapon."

Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said during the news conference that his office will consider what punishments to pursue after the investigation is completed and they bring the cases to a grand jury for indictments. As to whether they’ll seek capital punishment, he said, it’s "too early to tell."

Concealing or tampering could involve just about anything or a lot of things and I think is an easily provable charge. Hiding the gun, moving the car, moving his body. His body had drag marks or injuries. Also the camera video released seems to show Ramon wiping the door, etc. prints off the car which would be tampering with evidence also I'd think. The gun is debated to be that of the victim Guerra as he was said to always carry one and one was not found in the car.

I listened last night to a neighbor who called into a show and where the Presciados live is a nice area and not a crime area. He is an immediate neighbor and one couldn't help but like him and this was not expected or the norm for their area when LE showed up.

Just some random comments.

The "perp walk" in Texas was interesting. Ramon called the reporters fake news. I listened to "seasoned retired homicide detectives" who couldn't believe in TX they allowed reportes so close even putting their microphones around cops and to Ramon for instance and leaving the doors open to the police vehicle for how long as reporters got pictures and shot questions to him. I gather this would never happen and has never happened in NY or would be allowed. They were like flabbergasted. I don't know if I've ever used that word lol but it fits who amazed they were.

I don't know what it is about this one, it would appear to be just a drug thing but I feel like there is a component missing. The adult "kid" has no record (he may have a juvenile one but it really sounds like from LE he had no record) and dad has some but sounds like not much. They lived in a nice neighborhood. Or fairly nice. Victims splashed pics of drugs, cash and bling and weapons online and maybe it was just some attempted theft or drug deal gone wrong but it just doesn't seem to totally fit. I don't mean these two didn't do it, I am sure they did as charged but I just wonder the reason, especially with the younger one who killed them, coldly killed a pregnant woman, etc. but had no criminal history at all.

I guess I am waiting for it to make more sense and some never do. I guess I expect more reason or former interactions or deals or a turf war or personal vendetta or relationship or something.

It has become pretty clear not just he but she as well were active in the selling of drugs and both families were aware of it. All young. Her and the shooter in their teens. Guerra young but older in his mid 20s if I recall.

Tragic. Sad.

There was a press conference which I don't have at the moment but am watching it on a YT show and on that show a reporter covering the press conference says that the stepmom when questioned (previously I am guessing) said she was sleeping the night this happened and that the gun Christopher used was HERS.

That kind of doesn't help with his claims that Guerra pointed a tun at him and he had to manipulate it away from him not once but twice when it accidentally shot the each of the victims in each instance. A totally unbelievable claim even before hearing this was a gun from HIS family's home.

So in the presser it was said by the female LE officer they developed video that showed her leaving their home in the black truck and coming back to their home with her stepson and hubby or common law hub or whatever the case may be. If I have it right, her gun IS the murder weapon. She was NOT cooperative with them today. They showed the TX perp walkas they did with the first two. Also confirmed in the presser that these three lived at the residence together, dad, son and supposed stepmom.

SAN ANTONIO — Family members of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby who were killed just before Christmas say they will be laid to rest this week after some weather delays.
Savanah Soto, 18, was set to give birth to her first child when she went missing. Soto's body was found alongside her boyfriend, 22-year-old Matthew Guerra, the day after Christmas. According to police, they were both shot to death. The murder and subsequent arrests have garnered worldwide attention, with tens of thousands of people following developments online.

Matthew Guerra was laid to rest last week in visitation and funeral services.

A funeral for Savanah was delayed due to weather. San Antonio has experienced multiple days of below-freezing temperatures since Sunday.

Her obituary states a visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, at 5 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral will be held on Monday, January 22, at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A committal service will be held later that day at 12:30 p.m. at Wild Flower Cemetery, 10392 Kriewald Road, San Antonio.
