Pregnant San Antonio teen missing after failing to show up at the hospital

A pregnant San Antonio 18-year-old girl has been reported missing after her mother says she was scheduled to be induced and failed to show up on Saturday, December 23. A news report by KENS 5 said she was a week past her due date when she was scheduled to be induced.

Gloria Cordova said that she last heard from her daughter Savanah Nicole Soto on Friday, December 22, and is worried about her safety. Cordova said she could not find her daughter at her apartment prior to the scheduled appointment, and reported her daughter missing to the Leon Valley Police Department at the hospital after she never showed up. She said that "something seemed off."

She told KENS 5 that Soto's phone was dead and police could not get ahold of her boyfriend. Cordova identified Soto's boyfriend as Mathew Guerra to MySA. MySA reached out to police to confirm whether a missing persons report has been filed for Guerra.

“Savanah was so, so happy because she was going to be a mommy, it breaks my heart,” Cordova said.

Cordova said her daughter was ready to be a mom. She had the nursey done and had planned on giving birth with her mother in the delivery room.

However, by Saturday afternoon, Cordova could not reach her daughter. She decided to check on her at her apartment.

“I went by there and knocked and knocked and knocked and she wasn’t answering,” Cordova said.

She said she was not home and her phone appeared dead.

“We got to the hospital, they said she wasn’t there,” Cordova said.

She filed a police report with Leon Valley Police. She said something seemed off and they could not get a hold of her boyfriend, either.

“We don’t even know what happened, they said it could be anything,” Cordova said.

This comes at time when Cordova is still grieving the loss of another child.

“It’s hard, it’s like one after another,” Cordova said.

Last year, she said her 15-year-old son was killed. Now, on Christmas Eve, she has no idea where her 18-year-old daughter is.

“It still hurts because what I tell my kids, I’m not complete, I’m not complete and now I don’t have my daughter,” She said.

She is urging anyone with any information to come forward.

"Please come home, no one's going to judge you, no one is going to say nothing," Cordova said. "I just want you to be home."

Christopher Preciado said that Guerra pointed a gun at him when Preciado “manipulated the weapon,” resulting in Soto being shot, the affidavit said.
Moments later, Guerra once again pointed the gun at Christopher Preciado, who told detectives that he “manipulated the weapon again,” resulting in Guerra being shot, the affidavit said.

BULLS***!!!! Behind the ear like Savana.?! REALLY?! O.K. That defense is so obviously a lie! Idiot!!!!
It is such obvious bullsh*t. He had to wrangle the weapon and accidentally shot one. Then per, him Guerra gets it back and points it at him again. Then he has to wrangle it again and accidentally shoots Guerra. Ridiculous. Entirely.

The behind the ear thing with both I believe comes from family and the internet. The police chief or lead investigator in a presser showed his finger to the side of his temple when asked what they mean about Matthew's being a contact wound/gunshot. Not sure if he was giving an example of a contact wound by gun or the location as well of the shot... You'd think if his was behind the ear he would have placed his finger on his skin there.

Stepmom arrested in Savanah Soto case said she was asleep at the time

Last week's arrest of a third person in the murder case of Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra brought to a close online discussions about a person seen throwing a towel in security footage released by San Antonio police. Myrta Romanos, the stepmom of alleged shooter Christopher Preciado, 19, was arrested on January 10 in connection to the murder case of the young San Antonio couple and their unborn child.

The arrest affidavit for Romanos now reveals that she told police that she was at home the night of the incident and couldn't recall what happened that night. She also told police that she "thought she was asleep" that night of December 21, when the couple went missing. She denied being in the pickup truck that belonged to Ramon Preciado, 53, the alleged shooter's father.

Detectives reviewed the surveillance camera footage from behind the apartments on Danny Kaye Drive where Guerra and Soto were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head. The footage showed someone throwing a towel from the pickup truck to Ramon, who then used it to wipe down Guerra's Gray Kia Optima.

Detectives also pulled surveillance footage from the Preciado on Charlie Chan Drive, which showed Romanos leave the home with Ramon, and then return minutes later with Christopher, the alleged shooter.

I'll say this, internet case/crime followers caught on this third person fast and all wondered why no third arrest and they were right on long before LE came out with it and another arrest. Not all are way off base, out there or only doing rumor mill stuff.

‘There is no moving forward’: Savanah Soto’s family fights for justice as pregnant teen is laid to rest

Instead of celebrating a new life, Savanah Soto’s family is honoring two lives lost.

On Sunday night, they held a rosary for the pregnant teen, whose family says she was supposed to be induced right before Christmas.

“She needs to be laid down already,” Rachel Soto, Savanah’s grandmother said. “She suffered too much, and she doesn’t need to suffer anymore.”

Days after family reported Soto missing, San Antonio police found her and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, dead in a car on December 26.

“There is no moving forward,” Rachel Soto said.

An investigation found the couple was killed in a botched drug deal — police credit surveillance video from the night of the shooting for helping them track down the suspects.

Authorities believe 19-year-old Christopher Preciado is the sole killer and accuse his parents, Ramon Preciado and Myrta Romanos, of helping clean up the crime scene.

Court records say Romanos, who police arrested a week after the Preciados, owned the gun used in the murders.

“I hope they give them what they deserve,” said Rachel Soto. “Maybe life in prison for all that they did to her.”

Court records show Christopher Preciado has a pre-hearing set for February 5, and Ramon Preciado’s is set for February 6.

Romanos’ pre-hearing date is set for February 20, according to Bexar County Court Records.

Soto’s funeral mass will be held on January 22 at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, according to her obituary.

And the delays aleady begin and ti's just the outset and these were only prehearings if one looks at the post above this one.

I even read the link and as is so often the case, the public doesn't even get told who requested it, if there was a real good reason or excuse for it or if someone just simply wanted to go on vacation (which they would never share anyhow they'd just claim they had a conflict). I would assume both men have different attorneys? So who needed the change? Why? Both attorneys? The judge? The prosecution?

Just saying this isn't good enough, tell the public the claimed reason, by whom and why approved. That isn't confidential investigation material. Psheesh.

The families better get used to their newest ride they are on of the justice system and defense attorneys. it isn't a fun one and it isn't a short one.

Gloria Cordova, Savanah Soto's mom, arrested on warrant during court hearing

The mother of the pregnant teen found slain with her boyfriend days before Christmas, Gloria Cordova, was arrested Monday during a court hearing connected to her daughter’s death.

Cordova had a warrant out for a charge of failure to stop and give information, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. She was quietly arrested during a hearing Monday to lower the bail for Ramon Preciado, 53, the father of the man accused of killing Cordova’s daughter, Savanah Soto, and Soto’s boyfriend, Matthew Guerra.

No details about the warrant were immediately available.

<snip>

Ramon Preciado is charged with abuse of a corpse and with altering, destroying or concealing a corpse. Romanos is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence with intent to impair an investigation and altering, destroying or concealing a corpse.

Both have been held in the Bexar County Jail since they were arrested in early January, and their attorneys called their bail amounts “oppressive.”

Ramon Preciado’s total bail was reduced to $450,000 from $600,000 at Monday’s hearing. Romanos’ bail was reduced to $600,000 from $1.1 million Friday.

Savanah Soto's mother released after being arrested in courtroom during bond hearing
The mother of Savanah Soto, who was arrested inside a courtroom during a hearing from one of the murder suspects, has been released.

Gloria Cordova was released on Tuesday after her arrest on a warrant for failure to stop and give information.

Public outcry on social media was apparent immediately after the story broke of Cordova's arrest. Not so much of her being arrested but the time and place that if occurred.

Facebook commenter Victoria Cantu said, "They couldn’t wait for another time?? Seriously what is wrong with the system?????? Why are these animals getting bonds reduced how is that even a negotiation after they committed 3 murders?! The mother and father are just as guilty even if they didn’t pull the trigger, they WERE PART OF IT!!!"

And Dianne Leticia Mednez said, "It's absurd that they couldn't have approached the situation differently."

Unless I missed it, it isn't clear what this was over?

i did read it.

is it that she had some unrelated accident some other time and fled the scene and didn't stop to give info to the other driver or LE?

Or was it in relation to this case with all the stuff we heard of or hints of we don't know, like when they arrived at or found the car before LE, were at the home and went in, etc before LE and so on?

I agree arresting her at a court hearing seems unnecessarily nasty but could they find her easily otherwise and does it or does it not relate to the case?

I don't have an opinion, I'd need to know more.

Christopher Preciado indicted in Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra murders; also charged with killing unborn baby

The man accused of killing a pregnant teen and her boyfriend found shot dead in December was indicted by a Bexar County grand jury Wednesday. His father and stepmother were also indicted on separate charges.

Christopher Preciado, 19, is charged with capital murder after allegedly killing Soto, baby Fabian and Matthew Guerra. His indictment also includes charges of abuse of a corpse and altering, destroying or concealing a corpse.

The Bexar County district attorney also presented the grand jury with cases against Preciado's father and stepmother, who are accused of helping him to get rid of the bodies. Ramon Preciado was indicted on charges of abuse of a corpse and altering, destroying or concealing a corpse. Myrta Romanos, Christopher's stepmom, was indicted on those same charges, in addition to a tampering with evidence charge.

this crime is still senseless to me. there had to be bigger drug, turf or whatever problems than known and beyond my comprehension. a very different world I guess where son kills and parents jump in to help get rid of over what? and why a pregnant mom was there or doing so to begin with. all of it. i'm not naive, i'm sure a need for a drug or money can cause a lot but there's more here and it sure ain't just pot or someone didn't want to pay for such.

we know who and what happened mostly but not all imo as to the why or possible history or intent. could be wrong of course.

Wow that's quick. We'll see if they go off on time I guess...

Motion to reduce bond denied for second suspect in Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra shooting deaths

A motion to reduce the bond for a man charged in connection with the shooting deaths of Savanah Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, was denied on Monday.

Ramon Preciado, 54, was arrested on Jan. 3 on charges of abuse of a corpse and altering destroying, or concealing a human corpse.

Originally, the charges came with bonds of $100,000 and $500,000 respectively. In February, his bond for the charge of altering destroying, or concealing a human corpse was reduced to $350,000.

During the bond hearing on Monday in Judge Miguel Najera’s 290th District Court, Ramon Preciado’s attorney, John Kuntz, put him on the stand to discuss his health and financial troubles.

Ramon Preciado said he was taken to the hospital about a month ago and was told he had a low potassium level. He said he was given the wrong medication and was overmedicated.

He was released from the hospital on May 5, and about a week ago, he suffered an injury on his right arm that he suspects was a spider bite.

That injury turned into a cyst and then a staph infection, and he was given antibiotics. He said he suffered a similar injury to his left leg.

He was he was “very concerned” about his health, and he had preexisting health diagnoses before his arrest, like high blood pressure.

“They keep throwing me different medications,” he said. He said his health has gotten “a lot worse.”

Kuntz said the Preciado family cannot afford to pay his high bond, and the heightened attention to the case has prevented them from selling their house.

“Clearly the amounts are excessive and oppressive because it’s intended to keep him in jail... he’s going to clearly deteriorate,” Kuntz said.

The state asked the judge to consider his criminal history.

Kuntz asked for the bond amounts to be dropped significantly to a total of $35,000, but the judge denied the request.

Tough sh*t. Don't do the crime and you wouldn't be in this predicament. Seriously to $35K they requested?!! Why waste the Court's time. Oh and your home won't sell, I'm sure it would if low enough but guessing the value is sh*t now and so their only asset probably that could get him out isn't going to do it. Three in one family DID this and are incarcerated and just what did they expect?

Bond reduction denied for woman accused of hiding evidence in Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra murders

A motion to reduce the bond for a woman who was charged with concealing evidence in the December 2023 murders of Matthew Guerra and Savanah Soto was denied Friday morning.

Myrta Romanos, 47, appeared via Zoom before Judge Andrew Carruthers in Magistrate Court, asking for her bond to be reduced from $600,000 to $250,000.

She testified that she hadn’t been able to get any money because they sold a truck, and the money went toward the payments of their home, which is on the market but hasn’t sold.

Romanos' defense team added that the bond amount of her charges was too high, and given that she has no prior criminal history, they believed they should be reduced.

However, after some discussion, the state of Texas declared the amount was right given the details of the crime, adding that she was a flight risk.

Romanos faces charges of abuse of a corpse, alter/destroy/conceal a human corpse and tampering with evidence.

Unraveling the mystery: How tech led investigators to suspects in Soto-Guerra murder
Newly obtained court documents revealed it was a combination of cellphone data and Google Maps Street View that ultimately led police to the home of Christopher Preciado, 20, the man suspected of killing expectant parents Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerra, hours before Soto was set to give birth last December.

Preciado, investigators allege, fatally shot Soto and Guerra on December 21, 2023, in what was supposed to be a drug deal for marijuana. A dayslong search for the couple ended one day after Christmas when the pair were found in Guerra's silver Kia Optima, which had been abandoned in an apartment parking lot on Danny Kaye Drive. The day after their bodies were discovered, San Antonio Police released surveillance video of persons of interest in their investigation showing an individual exiting a gray Chevy Silverado talking with the driver of Guerra's Kia Optima - who did not match descriptions of the victims - before wiping down the outside of Guerra's car door with a towel.

As investigators publicized the video for any leads in their investigation, records show they had requested historical cellphone data and social media information from Soto and Guerra's cellphone providers, and social media companies. Additionally, authorities forensically downloaded one of the victims' phones and found they had recently searched for "Charlie Chan Dr.," a location not far from the apartment complex where they were found. A search warrant revealed location data from the Kia Optima they were in also indicated the car had been near Cary Grant Drive and Charlie Chan Drive. A detective noted that a Street View image showed a truck identical to the one in the surveillance video.

'I should have a little 1-year-old grandson running around' | One year later, Matthew Guerra's family reflects

Saturday will mark one year since the deaths of Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto and Baby Fabian.

It's a story that shocked many in San Antonio and Friday afternoon, the Guerra family once again opened their hearts to share what they are feeling one year after that tragic day.

While the holiday season is supposed to be a joyous time for families, for the Guerra's it's a time to grieve and remember Matthew, Savanah and Baby Fabian.

“It consumes you and changes everything about you, from the moment you wake up, from the time you go to sleep,” said Gabriel Guerra, Matthew's father.

“I should have a little one year old grandson running around, and see Matt as a first time dad,” said Guerra.

This was a horrid one but let's not forget apparently they were dealing drugs. Not saying that excuses a single thing but it's a very dangerous lifestyle and I'd only hope others avoid such. Says so in the link. Just don't want it glamorized.

I'm sorry for EVERY victim and their families, even the CEO one where some aren't. It doesn't mean their choices or lifestyle might not contribute, Like escorts, etc, in LISK.

Murder is always wrong short of protecting self or loved ones imo.

But I'm also not going to say it is safe to go do drug deals... And that's what LE says.

I DO FEEL for the families. AND the victims. Doesn't matter who you are, it's awful.

But darned if I am going to sit silent and not say that's a dangerous lifestyle. Looking for the easy $$$$ or the drugs, etc.

The baby certainly was a total innocent.

And the perps deserve to rot.
