Amber Alert issued for pregnant teenager suspected to be with 40-year-old man​

An Amber Alert has been issued for a pregnant teenager who is believed to be with a 40-year-old man.

Sophia Franklin, 16, was last seen Sunday night at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She is three months pregnant.

Authorities believe she is with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, who is the father of Sophia’s unborn child. He was last seen at Sophia’s home Monday morning.

Day and Sophia have a no-contact order.

They are believed to be traveling in a 2014 model black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas license plate BBR 20L.

There were charges against him for paternal interference, or something like that. My guess for no underage sex charges is that age of consent in Arkansas is 16 and possible that she found a way to him instead of him taking her there.

I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. If I read it right 5 months she was not home and was with him..... 5 MONTHS and they didnt file a report? WHY?! I don't want to be judgey either but this is baffling to me as a parent. Granted my daughter is 21 now and my boyfriends son is 19 now..... but even at those ages we always know where the kids are, if they are traveling whatever..... even when they were teens WE KNEW WHERE THEY WERE..... if these parents believed her then it is what it is..... trying not to judge but they really should have at least attempted to file a report that first time around even if it was just to verify where she was.....

on a side note i had to report my own father missing once..... 6 to 7 months i couldnt locate him it was awful

And they thought she was in the same town. Yet they never once saw her in 5 months.

There's a lot to unpack here.

I dunno. Maybe she's a hellion. Even so, she's now the subject of an Amber Alert and a minor in need of care.

And they didn't even really know where she was that entire time.

Seems like they might have just washed their hands of her. I do wonder how much drama she created or if they even tried much at all. Not judging because I've had teens and I don't know their previous situation.

Some teens are super manipulative and some parents don't care what their teens do. We have no idea what they fit into.

There was a remark in one thing that she told LE I believe she'd rather live with him than her parents. She also told them there was no "sex" until they reached AR as they knew it was illegal in WI but not in AR. It would seem at least that she told LE she was willing. Even so, his record is awful and I asked as well why he was not in prison.

I've caught up backwards many times lol.

Was she online schooling? Enrolled in school? Had she dropped out? I mean, gosh.

I never thought of school, yeah how was she schooling?

I'm not sure on the parents either, they sure believed a lot that wasn't true or did they just prefer it that way, then they didn't have to deal with her...

If they thought she was in Beaver Dam, it has a population of 16,000. Not huge, just for reference.

It is between Green Bay and Milwaukee and just below the "finger" of WI or peninsula, or one could say they are at the bottom of it...

That's why I mentioned the population. I didn't look it up but there's a good chance there is only one school district, one Md Donald's, etc. yet they never checked NOR ever ran into her? I believe they knew the "friend's" name she was allegedly staying with..

I'm starting to wonder if the knew and condoned her relationship with him... But didn't want to tell LE they actually went along with it... Look like bad parents or worried there could be charged, etc. against them... Just speculating..

Who knows re "any of the players" in this one. Smh..

yeah, nobody knows their side yet. my ex had a 7 8 year old with major issues and it was terrifying all the time for me and his dad. he ended up in residential care by like age 8 9 it was awful..... so i guess we need to hear what their life was like

I've had a very strong willed teen, I can't say if I would have been relieved if she would have run away or not. The unnecessary drama was maddening.

IF we hear it, those are the kinds of things we at least never do learn about, the family life, the details. It comes out sometimes in charges and paperwork filed but that is usually about it.

She DOES sound like she was a handful. And there is at least a sister who may be better behaved which could indicate the parents are not the problem but hard to say. I don't know the sister is better behaved but she was the one who saw the car, I think parked down the street, it is one of the articles here. She gave the information and/or told her parents, can't recall.

I'm surprised they haven't been found yet. I figured with all the info, the name of the suspect, the description of the vehicle, it wouldn't take long but here we are with them still missing....

Probably changing plates on the car though... Or hold up somewhere... Did he even maybe switch vehicles... Hard to say. It's anyone's guess at this point.

I had one teen that acted out a fair amount too, not like this thank God, but with a few other types of things. I'm not going to judge either at this point until we know more, but I am wondering...
