Amber Alert issued for pregnant teenager suspected to be with 40-year-old man​

An Amber Alert has been issued for a pregnant teenager who is believed to be with a 40-year-old man.

Sophia Franklin, 16, was last seen Sunday night at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She is three months pregnant.

Authorities believe she is with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, who is the father of Sophia’s unborn child. He was last seen at Sophia’s home Monday morning.

Day and Sophia have a no-contact order.

They are believed to be traveling in a 2014 model black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas license plate BBR 20L.

Sophie has been gone for a week. We don’t know what to do other than wait and pray. It’s a torment. Her absence is felt every moment.There is so much on the horizon for you, Sophie. Hard things, yes, but GOOD things too. And your family is here for all of it. We aren’t going anywhere- we just need you to come back.

Your value isn’t found in how much money you make, how hard you work, or even the affirmation of others. Sophie, you are a soul made by God and fully known by God and entirely loved by God. You are a gift to us.

For all our family and friends: THANK YOU. Please don’t stop sharing. Sophie needs to be home. Please let law enforcement know if you think of anything that might be significant in getting her back.

"Her absence is felt every moment" sure seems odd coming from parents that didn't even know where their daughter was for 6 months prior to this.

Very hollow with what little we do know already and her being gone for 6 months prior. I can't get passed the not knowing she was even out of state for 6 months, which means, to me, that they did not lay eyes on their underage daughter for that long. Let alone her being with a predator all that time.
 
I had a feeling we'd all have similar thoughts when reading the statement from the family and it appears to be the case.

The alert in Arkansas was added on February 6.
The Missouri one was only added today though.

They may now have had a confirmed sighting of her in Missouri. Many states require that before they'll issue an official Alert from another state.
 
You pretty much have to go through Missouri to get to Arkansas, short of going out of your way, as well as Iowa or Illinois. In his case, based on where Beaver Dam is, I'd say Illinois.

I think it's ridiculous the criteria these days on Amber Alerts. They knew he took her in WI and had taken her to AR before and I think at least about a five state area should have had the Amber Alert. Jmo.

I guess it would alert him what states not to travel in but issuing one in WI would have him probably leaving WI once he knew of it if he hadn't already so what's the difference... Not to mention more people become aware of such and are more apt to sight them.

Still seems like they would mention it more here if they suspected him going back to the area he had her at the first time . They would have traveled for many miles in Missouri to get there unless they took a very lonnnnnnnnng way around. Crossing through the boot heel at the very least. More likely the entire way from st Louis to the boot heel area.

I do think we just should remember we are speculating on the marriage thing. I know I brought it up but I was speculating too. I think there's a chance though it's something they may want to do or try for. On the other hand, there's also just as good of a chance the only goal right now is to not be found.
 
It's so disturbing to me that they are on the run and haven't been caught. Maybe switched cars and holed up in a motel? She needs freaking medical care this is bs

from my own personal opinion she's a pregnant 16 year old, youngings like that are at risk of premature labor so medical attention for that.... the willingness to be with a 40 year old man like this especially his history of child abuse she needs mental health attention too

Her family is also claiming she has had severe morning sickness. That could need attention by itself. Not sure if I actually buy that it's quite the issue the family is selling, but it is possible.

Seems like her entire family could use some intervention. a 15/16 year old and they had no clue where she was or what she was doing for 6 months and now they are acting like they can't do a day without her. Something is off on that, by itself.
 
Does neither have a phone? Must not be using or with them if so. Maybe burner phone/s.

They almost must be holed up but all need things eventually... Did he plan or prepare for this...?

Usually with something like this, it is a week, maybe two, before caught/found.

If he goes out on his own for supplies, it is possible he isn't easily noticed if not a couple. He's either using cash or they know areas they've been in but by the time they get the info, it is too late. Or they are in need of nothing as he prepared for this. That seems unlikely...

WHAT does this man do for money by the way? He drives an older car. Does he work? He can't be now or he'd be caught. I'm serious, how did/does he get by, on what money from where?

What did she take from home? Anything? Like phone, money, ID, etc....
